At the beginning of the film when the two guys in the car are shooting signs, two holes appear in the Mesquite/Dallas sign but only one shot is fired from the single-barreled gun.
At the beginning of the film when the two guys are driving and shooting at road signs, there is a side view mirror on the passenger side of the car which appears and disappears many times from scene to scene.
At various times throughout the movie, the characters say the events in the first film took place either 12, 13, or 14 years ago.
(at around 13 mins) We see a truck with a prefabricated home on the back of it, which immediately disappears in the next shot.
As Chop-Top scratches his head with the coat hanger, it switches position from his hair to out in front of him a couple of times when the angle switches.
The date on the newspaper article about Lefty is identified as a Friday when it should have been a Monday.
The opening scene shows the boys driving and shooting signs in broad daylight while the clock in the radio station reads 7:28 p.m. Later it is shown that this happened sometime during the third week of October, when sunset in Dallas was at about 6:45 CDT. By 7:28, it should have been near dark.
When Leatherface bursts out of the music library, his chainsaw goes from completely silent to fully revved up in one flick of a light switch. This is impossible; a silent chainsaw is not on, and needs to be cranked before it can be revved.
No way could Stretch be reporting live from Dallas using the portable box slung on L.G.'s shoulder. Burkburnett is 150 miles from Dallas, far beyond the range of such a small transmitter. Even if the box was a radio-telephone, the long distance and special charges would be prohibitive for a small-town station to cover breaking news from a chili competition (even in Texas). However, "reporting live" simply means that the reporter was on the scene of the report as opposed to reporting from a broadcast desk or as voiceover for b-roll footage. It doesn't mean the report is going out live over the air as it happens.
Obvious stunt double for Lefty when he uses the chainsaw to slice the big log.
At the beginning of the film, the two guys in the car shoot a wooden support; the already weakened point in the support can be seen before they do so.
Lefty claims that one of the boys at the beginning of the film "sawed his own head off going 90 miles per hour." They clearly weren't driving nearly that fast.
When Stretch is first seen on the air playing music and talking, the volume meters on the board and equipment tower do not move at all like they do in later scenes, showing that the equipment was not really working. Similarly, when she signs off just before the attack, the meter is dead.
When Leatherface bursts out the record vault, sparks fly out of Chop-Top's plate before he touches it with the blade. Also, he wasn't in his way, so the way he was running, he wouldn't strike him.
In daylight, the bridge where the two drunk boys encountered Chop-Top and Leatherface is portrayed as being on a fairly busy road in the vicinity of Dallas. The time of the incident the night before was about 8:12 p.m., yet there were no other vehicles on the road. That seems strange for a route in a big, busy city. In actuality, the bridge used for the night scene was of a completely different construction than the one shown in the day scene. The filmmakers probably couldn't arrange to close down that bridge for the night scene.
After Lefty starts up the big chainsaw at the store, he lifts up the saw and swings it around. As he does this, the film crew is visible in the reflection of his dark sunglasses.
When Stretch is being chased by Lefty in his car, in one shot right before she runs to safety in the metal structure, a camera man's shadow can be seen following her.
(at around 13 mins) Lighting equipment is reflected on the side of Lefty's car.
When Leatherface and Chop-Top are leaving the radio station, Stretch walks out the room saying "They can't get away..." the shadow of the boom mic is visible on the wall to the right of her.
When Stretch is telling L.G. to cut the phone line, he says to her "Dammit, I'm trying, darling," and the boom mic is visibly reflected in the glass screen between them.
At the very beginning of the movie, the narrator is telling the story of what happened in the original movie. He states that the group was driving a Volkswagon van when they encountered the killers. That is not true; they were driving a Ford Econoline Van.
