While filming in Hawaii, the show received technical support and many extras from members of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
The first season end credit black and white photos are by David Hume Kennerly, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography during the Vietnam War.
Helicopter scenes with Lieutenant John McKay (Dan Gauthier) were filmed on the ground with the rotors of the helicopter turning.
Of the three seasons the show was on, seasons 1 and 3 have an opening blurb of facts or tidbits related to the Vietnam War.
