Even though he has starred in multiple critically acclaimed roles over the years, Vincent D’Onofrio’s one performance that still reigns supreme among most fans (if not all) is that of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin in the Marvel Universe. If anything, his being brought on board for the respective role was one casting decision that faced pretty much zero disapproval from the Marvel fandom.

In fact, in what turned out to be a memorable turn of events, even the one who first suggested him for the role didn’t need to think twice when he thought of D’Onofrio as Fisk. But as perfect as this fantasy casting was, it almost fell through before even progressing past the imaginary casting stage, all because of the actor’s stint in the iconic drama series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Last season, NBC aired 15 scripted series and, for one reason or another, only nine of them are expected to return this season -- and five of them are produced by Dick Wolf. How many NBC shows will be cancelled or renewed by the end of the 2024-25 TV season? Stay tuned.
NBC shows this season (so far): Brilliant Minds, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago Pd, Dateline NBC, Found, Happy's Place, The Irrational, Law & Order, Law & Order: Svu, Lopez vs Lopez, Night Court, St. Denis Medical and The Voice.
There's lots of data that NBC execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here's how the network's 2023-24 TV shows are doing.

Michael Moriarty remembered his exit from NBC’s Law & Order very differently from other accounts of Dick Wolf and other crew members. According to Moriarty, he rage-quit the series over then-Attorney General Janet Reno’s comments on the show’s violent content. However, Wolf later revealed that his firing did not have anything to do with Reno.

Moriarty claimed that NBC and Wolf tried to defame him by announcing that he was fired for misbehavior. He played Ben Stone for four seasons and 88 episodes before he quit the series in 1994. Moriarty since left the United States and moved to Canada, where he acted in a few projects before his retirement.

Law and Order was messier then fans expected during its fall finale. There's typically a twist as to who the real culprit of a given case is, but "Bad Apple" looked inward, and looked at narcotics officers who decided to take the law into their own hands. To make things even more complicated, Law and Order stalwart Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney) used to run with their unit.
The whole investigation came about after a cop was shot and killed in the line of duty. It was then determined another cop, one who has a history of corrupt behavior, was responsible, and peers have known about his behavior for years. Yes, unfortunately, Brady was one of these peers.

Law and Order: Svu aired its fall finale on Thursday. There was plenty that went down in the episode, and most of it revolved around Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino). The Assistant District Attorney and spouse of Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddick) was pulled into a harrowing situation involving hostages.
Spoilers Ahead: A chance visit to a deli leads Carisi to be taken at gunpoint by robbers. He's forced to stand by as one civilian gets assaulted and another killed. He eventually concocted a scheme that forced the two robbers to question their loyalty and take each other out.

Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 8 Offered a Heart-Pounding Fall Finale, But It Wasn’t An Svu Case
Violent, armed robbers. Unnecessary deaths. Carisi in danger.
Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 8 offered an adrenaline-pounding story meant to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Benson’s been held hostage twice, and a stalker kidnapped Rollins from her therapist’s office once, so it’s not like this type of story is anything new, but it gets points for the thrill factor anyway.
(NBC/Peter Kramer) The Aftermath Will Be Better Than Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 8
Every police procedural does the cop-in-danger trope at least once, but lately, it seems like most of them do it once a season.
It’s easy to become desensitized to it when you know your favorite character will not leave the show and will not be killed off, no matter what.

NBC has announced when the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society will premiere, but does it have the right time slot?
NBC is wrapping up its 2024 slate by announcing when shows will be returning in winter 2025. That includes the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society. While he began his career telling jokes about frozen garbage pastries, Jim Gaffigan has since become a solid dramatic actor. Recently, he starred in the surreal indie dramedy Linoleum, and before that, he appeared in not one, not two, but three different Law & Order series, for five episodes total.
The TV procedural empire has frequently given comedians opportunities to take on more series roles, including Kathy Griffin, Martin Short and Gilbert Gottfried, who popped up in two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, playing an NYPD technical wiz opposite fellow guest star Adam Driver.

Law and Order and Law and Order: Svu have been NBC staples for over two decades. It's difficult to imagine the network without these two shows, even though another spinoff, Organized Crime, was recently demoted to streaming.
Both Law and Order and Svu will be airing its fall finales on Thursday, November 21. There will undoubtedly be unresolved storylines, and cliffhangers guaranteed to drive fans up the wall in the best possible way, but the question on everybody's mind going into a mid-season break is when the shows in question are slated to return.

Mariska Hargitay has been the lead of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for the past twenty-five years. Playing the series’ lead Olivia Benson, Hargitay has embodied the character to the extent that fans have reportedly shared their own traumas on s*xual crimes with her, leading her to be a fierce advocate against the crimes.
The show was created by Dick Wolf, who reportedly mentored Hargitay for the past two-and-a-half decades. Despite some clashes between the duo, Hargitay credited Wolf with teaching her everything about show business and even mentioned that his tough-love style of mentoring worked well for her.

Brilliant Minds has excelled at exploring living life on a patient’s terms when they need to adapt to new circumstances.

In the realm of TV longevity, NCIS and Law & Order are in a league of their own.
These shows aren’t just popular — they’re institutions.
They’ve survived industry changes, the rise of streaming, and even audiences’ fickle tastes, proving that some formulas really are built to last.

Hollywood’s Sweetheart, Julia Roberts, has been one of the industry’s most beloved icons for decades. The actress rose to stardom with her unforgettable role in Pretty Woman and has ever since reigned both in romantic comedies and dramatic roles like Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Steel Magnolias, and Erin Brokovich.
Ever since Roberts skyrocketed to fame in the ‘80s, her dating life has been a bit like a rom-com plot itself. Fans followed her romances with some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Roberts has been married twice, although her first marriage was short-lived, her second marriage with Danny Moder has been the real love story for over two decades now. Together, they share three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and a son, Henry.

Three Wise Men and a Baby was one of the highlights of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas in 2023, and it’s wonder.
If you put Tyler Hynes, Paul Campbell, and Andrew Walker in a room, magic happens — especially when they talk about Hallmark’s upcoming holiday sequel, Three Wiser Men and a Boy.
Between the laughs and playful banter, it’s clear the bromance is still alive and well, and so is their knack for delivering holiday joy.

We had to ask Andrew the big question: Are the Brenner brothers actually wiser this time around? His answer was classic Andrew.
“We’re smarter at being dumber,” he joked before getting a little real about life as a parent. “You lose track of yourself… your mental health, your partnership with your wife.”

Plot: Based on Charles Yu’s award-winning book of the same name, the show follows the story of Willis Wu, a background character trapped in a police procedural called Black & White. Relegated to the background, Willis goes through the motions of his on-screen job, waiting tables, dreaming about a world beyond Chinatown and aspiring to be the lead of his own story. When Willis inadvertently becomes a witness to a crime, he begins to unravel a criminal web in Chinatown, while discovering his own family’s buried history and what it feels like to be in the spotlight.
Review: Interior Chinatown is an interesting approach to telling a meta-fictional story. Rather than breaking the fourth wall or setting a story within a story, this series takes the approach of interconnecting characters often relegated to the background and showing how they can break free of their stereotypical and cliche constraints to...

In difficult times, young adults need shows about them more than ever.
Adolescence and early adulthood are challenging no matter what’s going on in a young person’s life, and doubly so when they’re growing up in a high-stress, polarized environment.
TV gets a lot of things right about young people, though it still misses the mark sometimes.
(CBC/Screenshot) American Shows Need To Take Some Lessons from Degrassi High (and Degrassi: Next Class)
Degrassi HIgh feels like it’s been around forever. I remember it being on PBS when I was a kid, not that I ever watched it then.
But if you want to know what writing young adults properly looks like, you’ve got to check out Degrassi: Next Class.

In the fall of 2004, Fox didn’t have a trusty procedural like NBC’s Law & Order and CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. So the network took a chance on House, a medical drama with episodic storylines driven by conditions, not crimes, and a British actor little known to stateside audiences playing a diagnostician with zero bedside manner. House became a commercial and critical hit, and it all started with the pilot episode, which aired on Fox on November 16, 2004. In that first episode, Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) is shirking his duty at the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital’s walk-in clinic, and he also brushes off the case of a kindergarten teacher named Rebecca Adler (Robin Tunney), who’s experiencing speech problems and seizures. When boss Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) revokes House’s diagnostic authorizations, he relents and takes a shift at the clinic — and while treating an asthmatic boy, he...

It’s been a long, bumpy ride, but there is some hope for Days of Our Lives’ future.
Lead actresses Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) and Deidre Hall (Marlena) recently confirmed in an interview that the ridiculous Body & Soul storyline will end by the time the new writers take over, if not before.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 11-18-24 suggest that we’re at the beginning of the end of this stupid story, but sadly, we’re not done yet.

This silly meta storyline has been sickening the audience for weeks, and now it’s the actors’ and crew members’ turn.
In all seriousness, this sounds like a replay of the poisoned biscuit nonsense.

A strange irony lies at the heart of Hulu’s Interior Chinatown. Its protagonist is Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang), an unassuming waiter who’s always dreamt of being the hero but despairs of forever being relegated to, as he sighs, “a background character in someone else’s story.” Ostensibly, this very show represents his chance to change that — to take control of his own narrative, to seize his own destiny, to carve out his own role in a world all too eager to shove him into a series of stereotypical boxes.
But the only way that Interior Chinatown can apparently think to achieve that is by shoving him into yet another box, this time as an avatar for someone else’s cultural analysis. It’s a bigger box, to be sure, with more room for experimentation and cheeky self-awareness. But it’s a box all the same, prioritizing the...
