¡Átame! aka Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! is based on a script by Spanish screenwriters Yuyi Beringola and Pedro Almodóvar (who also directed this film).

Most viewers think that she was merely overwhelmed and happy to have found someone to love her for who she is.

EDIT: The final scene has Marina driving, with Lola beside her and Ricky crowding in from the back seat. Lola and Ricky are singing along to a song about a man vowing never to give up, no matter what obstacles he faces. Marina looks fearful, especially when Ricky sings, because the song seems also to describe how he will never let Marina go, no matter what. Lola sees the look on Marina's face and tries to reassure her everything will be fine. Marina then smiles and puts on a brave face. But as Ricky puts his arm around Marina's neck to snuggle with her it looks as much like a chokehold as a hug. Lola then turns away and drops her smile. She, too, fears a bad ending for Marina.
