Wanda (Sellecca) is a con-woman whom the NYPD arrested and convinced to help them nail a criminal. What she didn't expect was that she would have to testify at his trial, and even more was that his trial wouldn't take place for a few more years. So, they send her to Palm Springs, where she would be placed in the employ of a Security Agency, PSI, Palm Security Inc. Accompanying and protecting and watching her to make sure she doesn't runaway is Joey (Evigan), a New York cop. They pretend to be a married couple Cody and Dani Powell. Upon arriving Dani suspects that one of the town's leading citizens kidnapped or killed a girl who's having an affair with her husband and at the same time is searching for a multi-million dollar winning lottery ticket.

P.S.I. investigates a suspicious death involving the use of a high tech weapon. When Durning tries to investigate, some men claiming to be military intelligence tells him to back off. When he doesn't they activate their "sleeper" - a man who doesn't know that he is an assassin, to kill Durning. At the same time the man's wife, suspicious that her husband is leaving the house at unusual hours, hires P.S.I. to find out what he's doing.

Dani loses her memory in an accident involving a hitman trying to obtain a stolen microchip and now believes she is a dutiful housewife.

Dani and. Cody babysit two children sought by drug dealers out to retrieve the cash taken by the kids.

A couple who accidentally killed a woman are being stalked by her lover, a dangerous man. They turn to P.S.I. for help. But the wife who is bored convinces Dani to go with her.

A wealthy woman who is Durning's partner at P.S.I. announces she intends to leave her money to her daughter who is a humanitarian. This doesn't make her other children happy. Later someone kills her and a new will surfaces that leaves her estate to her dog with Dani as the trustee. It turns out she's the majority partner at P.S.I. so Dani steps in and takes over. Durning and Cody try to find out if the will is real and if not who's behind it.

Cody and Dani are told they have to host some girls who are taking part in a beauty contest that's being held in Palm Springs. One of the girls is a mentally deranged woman who killed the actual contestant and took her place. And she sets her sights on Cody.
