The show has a similar concept to Sharky & George (1990), a cult French cartoon about two eponymous fish who work as private detectives, investigating crimes, mysteries, and gangsters in their underwater city.
John Ritter and Edward Asner also co-starred on the sitcom Hearts Afire (1992), which also premiered in 1992, the same year as this series.
