Set in the late 1950s, a pair of 1980s British Telecom phone booths are visible immediately after the opening sequence as Tony Aaron steps out of his car.
Towards the end of the movie, when Frank and Tony are discussing the guilt or otherwise of Angeline, the derelict West Pier in Brighton can be seen in the background. The movie is set in 1959-1961, yet the West Pier at Brighton was fully functional until 1975.
UHF television aerials are visible on the rooftops over several houses. Television had not started transmitting on UHF in 1959.
Story is set in 60's but, in the scene with Liam and Laura and the paintings; there is an image of the sculpture "Hammering Man" on the mantle. The sculpture was created in 1990.
When Frank and Tony are looking for Roscoe's suicide note, Tony's shoes are clearly visible. They are black Dr Marten's, the1461 model. So numbered because they were first available from 1st April 1961. But this scene is taking place in the very first minutes of 1st January 1960. Thus the anachronism is very precise, exactly 15 months too soon to be wearing these shoes.
When Liam's character is climbing along the sea wall edge near the water, the shadow of the camera can be seen on the wall because of the bright light illuminating the scene.
For some reason the Producers used a big house at Portmeirion, with shots of the sea there that are manifestly not Brighton.
Several scenes are shot on an undercliff walk, using the white cliffs of Peacehaven as a backdrop. This walking area was not created until the 1970-'80s.
