In the recurring sketches on Saturday Night Live (1975), Dana Carvey played Pat's equally androgynous partner, Chris. Carvey was asked to reprise the role in the movie adaptation, but turned it down.
Julia Sweeney was so disenchanted by the movie that she never wanted to play the Pat character again. However, she had previously agreed for Pat to be honored as "mayor for the day" in West Hollywood on Halloween. Sweeney appeared onstage as Pat for one more time on October 31, 1994, but describes her performance as halfhearted and pathetic.
The film did so badly that it was pulled from theaters after one week.
In addition to It's Pat: The Movie (1994), Julia Sweeney, Kathy Griffin, and Phil LaMarr also appeared in Pulp Fiction (1994), which premiered in theaters seven weeks later. Some critics have noted that the three performers acted in one of the best movies of 1994, and one of the worst movies of 1994.
