- The original Japanese version has the song "Reincarnation" played over the ending credits. This song was replaced with "One Minute Warning" by Passengers (a collaboration between U2 and Brian Eno) for the English version.
- The UK theatrical release and subsequent US releases has the opening Japanese text and end credits completely translated to English. Also, the Dolby Stereo logo is replaced with the Dolby Stereo Digital SR logo to match the audio remix for the English dub.
- Batou is referred to as Bateau in the English dubbed version.
- The movie was released in Germany on VHS by Manga Video. The version was uncut, though it was rated 16. There was a second release by Ascot, where the movie, the package design, and everything was exactly the same, except that this version was rated 18, but the disclaimer at the beginning still showed the 16 rating. Furthermore, Ascot replaced the Manga Entertainment logo at the beginning of the movie and the credits scroll down to their full length, where Manga cut them a bit. It seems like the Ascot video was intended for rental use only.
