Jamie Lee Curtis was originally cast as Karen McCann, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with House Arrest (1996). The lead female role was in the end cast with actress Sally Field.
Alexandra Kyle, who plays Sally Field's younger daughter, was also in A Time to Kill (1996). Both were released the same year and also starred Kiefer Sutherland as the villain.
