There are stepping stones to carving out a career as a filmmaker. It frequently involves them creating an idea for a short and perhaps finding collaborators willing to hustle. The first short could reach a small festival. It may get commended. Their next short film reaches a larger festival, with more cache. Bit by bit a reputation is built to a height where, if lucky, they get to develop their first feature.

One such filmmaker who has worked to reach this point is Brazil’s, Rafaela Camelo, selected by Variety as one of 10 Brazilian next gen talents.

HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot is upping the ante from the original in drama, fashion, and now even music. On Thursday night, we got the first full trailer for the upcoming series, which premieres next month, and it's set to the perfect track. As the next generation of Manhattan's elite do all kinds of scandalous things around NYC, Frank Ocean's "Super Rich Kids" from his debut album Channel Orange plays in the background.

Needless to say, it's the perfect opening note (metaphorically and lyrically) for this new chapter of Gossip Girl. Not only do the lyrics perfectly describe all the privileged teens of the Upper East Side as Ocean sings, "Parents ain't around enough / Too many joy rides in daddy's Jaguar / Too many white lies and white lines / Super rich kids with nothing but loose ends," but it also includes a nice little connection to the original show.

Madrid — Netflix announced Thursday in Madrid seven new Spanish Originals: Two series, three features, one documentary and an unscripted title.

The titles confirm a rapid ramp-up in production volume for Netflix in Spain, whose output to date takes in two of the U.S. giant’s standout breakouts in international, not only in Spain but overseas “La Casa de Papel” (Money Heist), “High Seas” and “Elite.”

Netflix’s Spanish production output, which boasts the first Netflix European Production hub soundstage complex at Madrid’s Tres Cantosis already one of the most voluminous in the world with 32 current or upcoming productions, according to a September 2019 report by Ampere Analysis. Only the U.K., Japan, Cnada, Mexico and Brazil bettered that figure.
