Quebec is the only place in the world where Titanic (1997) has never been #1 at the box office, and it is due to this film. Les Boys is the only movie that grossed more than Titanic during its (Titanic's) initial release. It stayed longer in the theater than Titanic. James Cameron, in an interview with the Journal de Montréal, asked the journalist what "Les Boys" was because of its success.
During Guy's fantasy sequence, he is in Guy Lafleur's kit from his time with the Montreal Canadiens.
Character "Roger", played by Michel Barette, was almost never seen on ice because the actor didn't know how to skate at the time of the movie.
With the movie being a huge success in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec, film distributors in France got the idea to release in the movie in their country. However, the movie was a huge box office flop in France. The reason for the box office failure has been attributed to the fact that many citizens of France have a low opinion of Quebeckers and Quebec culture.
