The shot during the opening credits in which the Addams Family members are sitting down in a line with each doing the hair of the one before is a remake of a similar group shot in the first-season episode Thing Is Missing (1965).
This was considered a pilot for a potential revival series, but it wasn't picked up.
The opening theme, unlike the original television series, is completely instrumental, and played in slightly different keys.
Most of the cast from the original series returned to reprise their roles, with the exception of the late, Marie Blake, who was credited as Blossom Rock during the show's run.
The score was composed by Vic Mizzy, who also composed the theme song for the original TV show. Mizzy is also credited with the score of The Munsters' Revenge (1981) and, in fact, Mizzy debuted the recurring theme from that movie in this film during the scarecrow decorating scene.
