Featured review
The title sounds like a Jacqueline Susann riff, but SEX IS NOT ENOUGH emerges as a crudely made hardcore porn film, which tries in vain to titillate with some half-hearted s&m scenes. It has been pointlessly revived on Vol. 95 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series.
Lengthy opening scene has low-angle photography of a couple humping in many different positions in their kitchen. Accompaniment is the soothing sounds of Stan Getz playing bossa nova tunes and a Muzak version of Herbie Hancock's classic "Maiden Voyage".
When the hero finally ejaculates, he announces "I gotta go!" and in true porn tradition skedaddles out of there, leaving our slim, winsome heroine Marla in the lurch. Still horny, she calls up "Sir Richard" for an appointment. At this point the film falls apart completely, with several extraneous sex scenes involving performers with no characters (read: filler) inserted.
Ultimately Marla arrives at Sir Richard's pad and is given a well-hung, blindfolded male slave to boss around and torture, cueing some amusing banter as he has the temerity to talk back to her, always calling her "Master" rather than Mistress. (I guess political correctness outlawing the use of such terms as "aviatrix", "hostess" and latterly even "actress" started early in the porn world.) Some shots are edited out of order even within a scene at this point, indicating the filmmakers' lack of even rudimentary ability.
Picture ends up with an orgy where all sorts of cast members get together, but even here the sloppiness is so extreme that NO recognition by either Marla or her husband occurs even though they're reunited as orgy participants.
At all times the s&m and b&d elements are so mild that this film qualifies as one of those bait and switch efforts, where very routine sex scenes are the goal, kinkiness only being added to the stew as a teeny bit of novelty.
