i think it is a bit harsh to say that this series is 'not funny'.
don't forget that this was made some years before the later effort 'so, what now?' of course it has its flaws, every single show does.
'the world of Lee Evans' is the show which first brought Lee Evans into the world of television and for this we should be thankful. it's clear it is at an early stage of his career (i was never a fan of the next door neighbour sketch.) it is a show with a man finding his feet in television comedy and for a first timer i think you'll agree that he does a rather good job at it! (the petrol station, and train sketches are particular highlights for me!) so to watch a new series starring Lee Evans and then go back to see his earlier stuff hoping to find a masterpiece is being a bit far fetched.
it's by no means his best work (he saves that for his stand up routine - which has to be seen to believed - and his performance in 'the producers' was outstanding) but it is nonetheless very enjoyable.
