Felix Aylmer repeated his portrayal of Lord Palmerston in The Lady with a Lamp (1951), in which Anna Neagle (Queen Victoria) played the character of Florence Nightingale.
Anna Neagle (Queen Victoria) was married to the director Herbert Wilcox from 1943 until his death in 1977.
The world premiere found Queen Mary, after a two-year absence from the theatre, in the Royal Box in London's Odeon Theatre, accompanied by Lady Cambridge, the Duke of Kent, Lord Carisbrooke and Lady Claud Hamilton.
In March 1941, RKO distributed this film under its alternate title "Queen of Destiny" on a double bill with They Knew What They Wanted (1940).
