When Effie's escort cancels, she takes Finn to the opera at the last minute. He creates a persona to impress Effie's friends, which snowballs to gossip column rumors of troubles in the Conklin marriage. Effie becomes infuriated by Nicholas's lack of concern.

After some bad dates, Allison is concerned that the romance has gone from her relationship with Eamon. Finn and Effie offer conflicting advice, as the stars align for a perfect evening on the town.

Effie befriends the new tenants, the bickering British Lanstons. Her obsession with their comings and goings fosters her inner Nancy Drew.
