Celebrated filmmaker Subhash Ghai has suffered a health crisis. The director was recently admitted to the hospital after struggling with respiratory issues. The 79-year-old also complained of weakness and frequent dizziness and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

After his hospitalization sparked concerns among fans, his team released a statement revealing that There was nothing to worry about as Subhash Ghai was in the hospital for a routine check-up. The Taal director has now been discharged and has thanked his fans for their well-wishes.

Reports of Subhash Ghai facing health issues came out on Saturday, December 7th. Reports confirmed that the director was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The initial speculations suggested that Ghai was in the ICU and was suffering from memory loss and speech difficulty.

Rishi Kapoor, famed for his performances in films such as “Bobby,” “Rafoo Chakkar,” “Karz,” “Agneepath,” “Kapoor & Sons,” and “Mulk,” passed away at 67 on April 30, 2020, after a two-year fight against cancer.

Music composer Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, of Laxmikant-Pyarelal fame, has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan, not only as a celebration of his musical prowess, but also in acknowledgment of his role in defining the golden era of Hindi film music.

The octogenarian learnt the basics of music from his father, the renowned trumpeteer of his time, Ramprasad ‘Babaji’ Sharma. He then aced the violin under the guidance of the Goan musician Anthony Gonsalves, whom he went on to immortalise in the song ‘My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves’, which was picturised on Amitabh Bachchan (who also contributed to the vocals) in the 1977 film ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.

Pyarelal teamed up with Laxmikant Kudalkar and they worked in more than 750 Hindi films between 1963 to 1998. They collaborated with the biggest names of the industry, including Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Shakti Samanta, Manmohan Desai and Yash Chopra.

Known for his first leading role in 1973 teen romance film ‘Bobby’ opposite Dimple Kapadia, Rishi’s acting career spanned 50 years. His notable works include ‘Khel Khel Mein’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Karz’, ‘Prem Rog’, ‘Coolie’ ‘Nagina’, and ‘Chandni’ amongst others.

He married actress Neetu Singh in 1980, and the couple have two children— son, actor Ranbir Kapoor, and daughter Riddhima.

Mumbai, Feb 25 (Ians) Director Subhash Ghai, who is known for films such as ‘Karz’, ‘Hero’, ‘Taal’, ‘Ram Lakhan’ and others, is venturing into the medium of television with the show ‘Jaanaki’. The show is a daily soap revolving around women empowerment, and is supposed to go on air in May 2023.

Subhash Ghai will work in the capacity of a producer on the show and the shooting for its 208 episodes will start this month.

Ghai’s career began as a student from the acting course of Ftii who then had a stint of four years as an actor in Mumbai. The young man then became a story writer for the top 6 directors of the 70s including Prakash Mehra and Dulal Guha with his scripts like Aakhri Daku and Khan Dost. After being a writer for 3 years he was given a chance to direct his own script Kalicharan, produced by Nn Sippy, which established him as a director with the film a hit. He wrote and directed another super hit Vishwanath for Shatrughan Sinha’s Arts. He was recognised for his crispy talent of dialogue writing as well as extracting performances from actors big or small.

Bhanu Athaiya, the costume designer who became the first Indian to win an Oscar, for Richard Attenborough’s “Gandhi” (1982), died at her home in Mumbai Thursday after a prolonged illness. She was 91.

Athaiya was suffering from a brain tumor for the last eight years, her daughter Radhika Gupta told news agency Pti.

Athaiya was born in Kolhapur, western India, in 1929. She began her career as a fashion illustrator for magazines before she moved to designing costumes for films. Subhash Ghai tweeted, “36th anniversary today (Friday) of Mukta arts produced 41 films with 15 films directed by me going still strong. My gratitude to all in Mukta years.”

Mukta Arts produced its first film Karz, starring Rishi Kapoor, in 1978 and after that came out with a big range of movies – Hero, Karma, Khalnayak, Pardes, Taal, Yaadein, Iqbal, Joggers’ Park, and Aitraz. Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai had made inroads in the music industry way back when he launched his film Kisna's music under his banner Mukta Music. Apparently, Ghai, who is known for his film's music, is all set to re- launch his music label with his next directorial venture Kaanchi.

Mukta Music after successfully backing the music distribution of films like Kisna, Jogger's Park and Iqbal went silent and is now geared up to create a stir in the music market again. "My film's music has always been a hit. Our films - Karz, Hero, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Taal and Yaadein had very successful music. People told me long ago, when I first got into production, that I should launch a music arm for my company. But my focus was different then," said Ghai.

He further added, "The music industry has evolved a great deal since the '70s and '80s.

Music from Mukta films i.e Karz, Hero, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Taal and Yaadein has always topped the charts. Mukta Music was launched in partnership with Sony music for kisna after Ghai realized that music was a valuable aspect of the film and it had to be exploited to the fullest.

But Kisna didn’t do as expected and Ghai didn’t want to take risk on his next hence when T-series offered a good price for his next big budget film Yuvvraj he was happy to de-risk it.

Mumbai, Aug 31: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has grooved to several hit numbers in his heyday, but performing in a "solo item dance" for "Kaanchi" is a "thrilling" experience for the 60-year-old.

The actor will be seen dancing in Subhash Ghai's upcoming film "Kaanchi".

"I'm too thrilled to do this solo item dance with Subhash Ghai after so many years and its just a fabulous song," Rishi, who worked with Ghai in 1980 movie "Karz", said in a statement.

A huge set has been erected for the dance number and over 90 dancers are performing on a tune composed by duo Salim-Suleiman. It is being choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.
