For the past few weeks, I have been watching stuff that is intentionally and confidently convoluted in an attempt to make it seem like the story is complex, even though it’s clearly not. It’s not like I am voluntarily picking out these projects. They’re all chosen randomly so that they can be covered during the week of their release. And despite the unmethodical nature of the choices, if a pattern shows up, then I think it’s a trend. Joker: Folie à Deux seemed like an ending explainer for the previous movie, but it alternated between what’s real and what’s not in the dumbest fashion imaginable. Teacup was like a wannabe From, which itself was a confounding trip. The Last Night at Tremore Beach was infuriating and baffling. The Man Who Loved UFOs, despite being a biography, was a whole lot of nothing. Then there was Caddo Lake,...

Dancing With the Stars‘ “Halloween Nightmares” week has turned into a nightmare for judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who has been slammed by viewers for her “unfair” and “biased” scoring. Tuesday’s (October 29) episode saw the seven remaining couples performing routines revolving around their biggest fears. It was a night of high scoring, as Inaba handed out 10s to Dwight Howard, Danny Amendola, Joey Graziadei, Stephen Nedoroscik, and Jenn Tran (who was eliminated at the end of the episode). However, some fans were upset when Inaba only gave Pretty Little Liars star Chandler Kinney and her pro partner Brandon Armstrong a 9. At the same time, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli gave the performance their first 10s of the season. Kinney and Armstrong had performed a Viennese Waltz to the theme song from Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Tonioli praised the performance, saying he was “spellbound” and noting how it “had...

The slasher-themed relaunch of the series “Pretty Little Liars” began with “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” back in 2022, and it was followed by new story “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School” earlier this year. Unfortunately, the slasher spinoff has been cancelled.
After two seasons, “Pretty Little Liars” has been killed off at Max this week.
“While Max will not be moving forward with a third season of ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ we are so grateful to our co-creators, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the team at Warner Bros. The 2000s had a bunch of television shows that captivated the hearts of millions of silver screen enthusiasts around the world. Dexter was one show that had people glued to their television sets back in the day. Released on October 1, 2006, just in time to set the tone for Halloween that year, Dexter had a lengthy run until airing its final episode on September 22, 2013.

The final season of the pilot series had Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall) fake his death in a hurricane to escape the growing suspicion of him being a serial killer. The character then escapes to a nearby town from Miami, picking up a new identity to hide from the law. This inspired a follow-up series called Dexter: New Blood (2021).
However, Paramount and Showtime are coming together to produce a new series that will reflect Dexter’s upbringing.

A little over a year ago, Showtime announced that they were ordering a series – then known as Dexter: Origins, now known as Dexter: Original Sin – that would serve as a prequel series to their popular show Dexter, which finished its eight season initial run back in 2013, then recently came back for a new season (called Dexter: New Blood) that appeared to wrap things up, but apparently didn’t. Dexter: Original Sin went into production a few months ago, and now a first look trailer has arrived online, along with a premiere date that’s much sooner than I was expecting. The trailer can be seen in the embed above, and the premiere date is December 13th on the Paramount+ streaming service, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th.

The first of many new “Dexter” series is set to drop this winter.
“Dexter: Original Sin” will hit Paramount+ with Showtime on Dec. 13 before making its on-air debut on Dec. 15, according to a new teaser.
The show is a ’90s-set prequel that chronicles a young Dexter’s (Patrick Gibson) early days as an “avenging serial killer.” Michael C. Hall — who played the titular character in the core series — will narrate the 10-episode first season.
“I am a killer, but I wasn’t born this way,” Hall says as Dexter in the Thursday teaser. “I was made by my history, by the people around me. They say it takes a village to raise a killer.”
Here’s the official logline for the season: “Set in 1991 Miami, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer,...

Fans of the popular Dexter series received some tantalizing yet concerning news about upcoming spinoffs at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While the announcements of Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection got devotees excited to revisit the Showtime hit, one casting choice for the prequel and the sequel’s planned continuation of New Blood’s ending could undermine beloved elements of the original saga.
Dexter: Original Sin is raising eyebrows with its decision to cast Brittany Allen as Laura Moser, Dexter’s biological mother whose murder was a defining event that set the dark analyst on his sinister path. However, having Laura as a recurring character contradicts huge reveals around Dexter’s unknown biological family that were masterfully doled out. While Allen is a strong get for any project, her role jeopardizes the monumental plot twists that thrilled viewers.

At 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, Dexter diehards were elated to hear the announcement that Michael C. Hall would be returning for yet another go around as Miami Metro’s most lovable serial killer in the sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. Taking place after the events of both Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Resurrection should grapple with the character’s family issues and conflicted sense of morality just like the previous two series.

It appears that Michael C. Hall isn’t done with the Dexter IP, but fans surely are. During the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, Hall appeared at the Dexter: Original Sin panel and surprised fans with the announcement of a new sequel series. The newly announced Dexter: Resurrection is reportedly a sequel to New Blood, which was released in 2021 as a sequel to the original show.

New Blood didn’t do a great job in terms of saving the dumpster fire finale of the original series, but it did a few things right in terms of course correction. Moreover, the show ended with the death of Hall’s main character, which means Resurrection may go out of its way to bring back Dexter Morgan from the dead.

Slasher movies have been around for decades, and they excel because you have a group of people stalked by a killer, only to have the story end within 90 minutes.
Slashers on TV take things in a different direction, with the story being told over a longer arc.
That doesn't always work, but some slashers have delivered on their promise.
Because we're TV Fanatics, we've rounded up some of the best slashers to hit the small screen.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

When Starfield‘s September release date was finally confirmed, many gamers suddenly felt bad for Baldur’s Gate 3. After all, what chance did a Crpg sequel in a largely forgotten franchise have of going head-to-head with one of the biggest blockbuster RPGs we’ve seen in decades? The situation was seemingly resolved (or at least downplayed) when Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios decided to move the game’s PC release date up by about a month, partially to avoid the competition. Since then, quite a lot has happened.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is not just one of the best games of 2023 but one of the year’s biggest surprises as well. Despite bucking so many modern game conventions, it has exceeded even the wildest sales expectations and has even started a strange debate over whether it’s actually too good. Suddenly, it feels like Starfield is on the back foot.

After seven seasons, Showtime’s widely-watched gem “Billions” will be returning this week for its final season.
Created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, the financial drama first premiered in 2016 and follows the cat-and-mouse games between a hedge fund manager (Damian Lewis) and the United States Attorney (Paul Giamatti).
The first season was loosely inspired by Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and his prosecution of S.A.C. Capital Advisors’ Steven A. Cohen. But as the show has continued, it’s morphed away from its real-life inspiration to become something else entirely.

NBC is moving forward with a pilot order for the one-hour drama “Wolf,” hailing from “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” executive producer Michael Grassi and Berlanti Productions. The project, from Warner Bros. Television, is inspired by the life and works of British neurologist Oliver Sacks.
Specifically, the series draws from Sacks’ books “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” (1985) and “An Anthropologist on Mars” (1995). The logline is as follows: “Inspired by Oliver Sacks’ extraordinary life and work, ‘Wolf’ follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.”

I'm thankful for many things this past year, but most of all I'm grateful for the best early birthday present a fella could ask for." The post was shared on Sept. 16, Harding's birthday, but it's unclear when exactly his bundle of joy arrived.
Harding is notoriously private, and the post marks the first time he's mentioned any kind of baby news. He also waited nearly two years to reveal that he'd married his longtime girlfriend, Sophie Hart, sharing a throwback post on Instagram in February 2021 that featured a wedding ring.
