Suits star Sarah Rafferty would love for her former co-star, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, to join the show’s rewatch podcast, which she co-hosts with Patrick J. Adams.
“Everybody’s invited, and everybody has been so supportive,” Rafferty told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview when asked if Markle would be asked to appear as a guest on SiriusXM’s Sidebar.
She continued, “It’s amazing. I’ve just been texting one of our directors, Mike Smith. Rachael Harris had some comments on our Instagram Live this morning — cannot wait for Sheila Sazs to be introduced into the show. I can’t wait to talk to Max Beesley [who portrayed Stephen Huntley] and all the British actors that we had.”

One year ago, Max added a huge benefit for subscribers with the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On. For no additional cost, subscribers could now watch NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA basketball and more. But the launch came with an ominous asterisk: those sports were free “for a limited time.” Will Max ever start charging?

If Max were going to pull the trigger, now would be the time. One year is more than generous for a “temporary” free perk, and we’re at the perfect time to raise the price. Max will offer the 2024 Alds & Alcs, the NHL starts play today, and the NBA is starting later this month.
Another factor to consider: Fubo successfully halted the launch of Venu Sports, a planned streamer that would offer all the same Warner Bros. Discovery sports broadcasts Max offers. If Wbd were expecting Venu revenue in Q4, it could...

You’ve never seen the Joker and Harley Quinn the way you’ll see them in ‘Folie a Deux.’

Is Curb Your Enthusiasm the first sitcom about an asshole? Jeff Schaffer says no.
In the academic sense, Curb Your Enthusiasm is about as textbook a comedy of manners as we’ve ever seen on television. For 12 seasons and 24 years, Larry David bristled against social norms and challenged conventions of polite society to the delight of cantankerous Curb fans everywhere, highlighting the absurdity of modern society as he sees it. However, according to entertainment journalist Joel Stein in his new essay for The Wrap titled “Bad Manners,” David and Curb Your Enthusiasm also carved out a new subgenre within the umbrella of the comedy of manners: the comedy of the asshole.
According to Stein, Curb Your Enthusiasm entered the zeitgeist during a unique period of TV history when the antihero main character was quickly becoming the most popular character archetype, just as crime dramas such as The Sopranos and The Wire...

Short answer: Unfortunately, no. Max is not currently offering a free trial of its service for all new users. Sign Up $9.99+ / month max.com
In today’s streaming world where there are a ton of options free trials are an excellent way to test the waters of a service before deciding whether or not you want to commit to paying for a service. Throughout its history, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streaming service now known as Max has had an inconsistent history of free trials, and unfortunately, as of now, the service is not offering a free trial either directly or through any third-party partners.
However, there are still ways to save on the service. Recently, Max has joined with Disney+ and Hulu to create a first-of-its-kind bundle. You can sign up for the ad-supported version of the services for just $17 per month or go ad-free for $30.

There are only a small handful of shows in the history of television that can claim to be as successful as "Seinfeld." Other shows may have lasted longer in terms of sheer volume of episodes. But as far as staying power and cultural impact goes? What Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David created is damn near untouchable. The show ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998. It actually could have gone at least one more season but that wasn't in the cards, at least not for the series' lead. In fact, NBC offered Seinfeld a fortune to stay for at least one more year -- a fortune he walked away from.
In a 2012 interview with Fox News, Warren Littlefield, the former President of Entertainment at NBC, explained that he tried to make "Seinfeld" season 10 happen. Keep in mind, by this point, David had already left to pursue other ventures, including HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Anyone bored by this year’s Emmy winners just hasn’t been paying attention. This was a revolution. The idea that “Shōgun” could enter the drama race and then break the history books with 18 wins was astounding — and sure didn’t seem possible even a year ago. The fact that “Hacks,” in its third season, could upset “The Bear” — even as the incumbent still smashed the record for most wins for a comedy in a single year — has changed the balance of power in that race.
And then there was perhaps the biggest shift of the night: “The Traitors” ending the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” streak in reality competition series. That’s a field where “The Amazing Race” won 10, “Drag Race” won five and “The Voice” has four — so there wasn’t much movement in the category. “The Traitors” has at least busted things up, making for a more dynamic playing field.

‘Industry’ has heretofore arrived on HBO at 9 p.m. Et, but that will change thanks to ‘The Penguin.’
Surely the characters of a title like “Industry” wouldn’t object to a little intra-company betrayal, would they? “Betrayal” might be a strong word, but at the very least it can be said that “Industry” is being forced to show a lot of deference to “The Penguin.” The new crime thriller set in the DC Comics universe debuts on HBO and Max on Thursday, Sept. 19, but will impact when you can watch “Industry” on Sundays. When Emmy presenter Catherine O’Hara announced “Hacks” as the winner of Best Comedy Series at Sunday’s Primetime ceremony, awards pundits everywhere had to pick their jaws up off the floor. “The Bear” was the overwhelming front-runner to claim its second victory in that top category, especially after setting a new comedy record in 2024 for 11 wins in the same season. But “Hacks” prevailed, and in doing so it became only the third show in history to win Best Comedy Series for Season 3 after losing its first two bids.
The other two laffers to accomplish this rare Emmy feat are “Get Smart” in 1968 and “Sex and the City” in 2001, which means “Hacks” now finds itself in rare company indeed. If all TV production stopped today and no new TV shows were ever created, then every TV lover in the world were asked to name the greatest show in the history of television, there's a damn decent chance that "Seinfeld" would come out on top. Rewatchable, hilarious, and totally singular, it remains a miracle more than 25 years after it went off the air. So much of that is attributed to the core ensemble cast made up of Jerry Seinfeld (Jerry), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine), Jason Alexander (George), and Michael Richards (Kramer). For nearly all of the show's 180 episodes, this group anchored the classic sitcom. We say almost because there was one episode that Alexander sat out.
Like many great shows, "Seinfeld" took a couple of seasons to find its footing. By season 3, though, it was fully off to the races. That season contains several classic episodes, including the third episode, the 20th of the show overall,...

With eleven Emmy Awards to her name, Louis-Dreyfus is a certified Queen of Comedy, having starred in several hit sitcoms, including the iconic 90s classic Seinfeld.

Despite the popularity of Seinfeld, particularly her character in the series, Louis-Dreyfus picked a different character as the role she would want to reprise. The actress revealed in an interview that she missed her time as Selina Meyer in the political satire Veep, which cemented her as one of the best comic actresses. Here is what Louis-Dreyfus had to say about her Veep role.

There’s been a lot of talk about the last episode of Seinfeld this year after Curb Your Enthusiasm essentially remade the controversial finale, giving Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld a spiritual do-over. Sadly, Larry and Jerry didn’t continue to rewrite past embarrassments by, say, traveling back in time to stop Jerry from ziplining across Parisian rooftops in a Bee Movie costume.
But long before Curb revisited the ending of Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld got the opportunity to add an epilogue of sorts to the finale, thanks to Saturday Night Live and the cast of Oz.
In 1999, Seinfeld hosted SNL’s 25th season premiere with musical guest David Bowie. Coming just one week after the Saturday Night Live 25th Anniversary Special, and five months after the Seinfeld finale aired, Seinfeld used the opening monologue to joke about all the free time he suddenly had to watch Wings reruns and date married women.

This week, Great American Family published their 2024 Great American Christmas movie schedule. However, Lori Loughlin and a couple of other actors who previously signed exclusive contacts with the network were nowhere in sight!
Here is what we know about these stars and where their fans may be seeing them this holiday season.

Great American Family has announced its 2024 Great American Christmas lineup. However, Lori Loughlin is nowhere to be found.
She is not starring in any of their holiday movies. Moreover, she is not even in the Brian Bird executive-produced A Little Women Christmas. This seemed like a natural opportunity to pair her up with the When Calls The Heart co-creator’s project.
In addition, her IMDb does not indicate that she has made any new movies. Her most recent role was in Curb Your Enthusiasm,...

New data from Ampere Analysis shows that parents with children are less likely to cancel a a streaming service.

All’s well that ends well. With most of HBO’s existing Emmy juggernauts — The White Lotus, The Last of Us, House of the Dragon and Euphoria — not releasing new seasons during the 2024 Emmys’ qualifying window and Succession and Barry gone, the network had been bracing for tough year-to-year comparisons.
Somehow, however, HBO | Max, No. 3 in the overall 2024 distributor rankings behind FX and Netflix, walked away with a top program Emmy on Sunday, scoring an upset win in the final category, Outstanding Comedy Series, for Hacks. It was the first time the Max original went head-to-head with FX’s heavy favorite The Bear after a long break between Seasons 2 and 3.
That won’t be the case with Season 4 of Hacks, which is already in production. In an interview with Deadline at the HBO | Max Emmy afterparty Sunday night, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, spoke about Hacks‘ triple win — for Comedy Series,...

Just eight months after the last round of Emmy celebrations — with the 2023 show pushed to January following the strikes — Hollywood is back at it, toasting this year’s top TV talents all across town. The agencies kicked things off on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday saw the toasts carrying on and the studios closed out Sunday with their respective afterparties.
Here’s an inside look at this year’s festivities, as The Hollywood Reporter‘s staffers hit the biggest events across Los Angeles.

There was a lot to digest during Sunday night’s Emmys telecast, namely that telling twist of Hacks snagging best comedy over The Bear, but what happened off camera proved much more illuminating. We were there to chronicle all of the confusion, ring-kissing and sloppy standing ovations — as well as that mass exodus for the lobby bar.
The Schadenfreude Is Real
There was nothing wrong with Eugene and Dan Levy’s hosting job or monologue. That said, the room was noticeably hungry for some snark — as evidenced by the big laugh Eugene got when he said, “in the spirit of The Bear, we will not be making a joke about it being a comedy.” It truly hit better than any other punchline of the night — and proved quite prophetic when TV Academy voters were revealed to have picked joke-joke-joke comedy Hacks over the reigning restaurant dramedy for the night’s final award.

Curb Your Enthusiasm aired its 12th and final season earlier this year, but the show didn’t receive any farewell gifts from the Emmys on Sunday (September 15) as it was shut out once again. Larry David‘s long-running sitcom was nominated for four Emmys at this year’s ceremony, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for David. However, the show didn’t receive a single award, a familiar feeling for the HBO show, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy series ever. Curb Your Enthusiasm outdid its previous record as the show with the most Outstanding Comedy Series nominations (11) without a win. Throughout its run, the series picked up a total of 55 Emmy nominations but has only won twice, for Directing in 2003 and Outstanding Single-camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series in 2012. Fellow HBO comedy Hacks ended up taking home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series,...

And just like that, another hotly contested Emmy awards season race has come to a close. After last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes pushed the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony into January of this year, last night the glitzy statue-doling bash's 76th edition — this year hosted by Schitt's Creek's Eugene and Dan Levy — took place at the Peacock Theater in LA. And on a night of few major surprises, the two most nominated shows of the year — samurai epic Shōgun and kitchen-based "comedy" The Bear — got their hands ("Hands!") on 18 and 11 awards respectively, including historic Outstanding Actor and Actress In A Drama wins for the former's Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, and second Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actor wins for the latter's Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Hacks cooked up a major upset for the final category at the 2024 Emmys.
The Max series won the Emmy Award for best comedy series for its third season, marking its third win of the ceremony. Also nominated in the category were The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs and What We Do in the Shadows.
In her acceptance speech for the award, series co-creator Lucia Aniello emphasized the value of comedy. “Comedy is so important, obviously, to us, but we really feel like it can bridge divides,” she said. “When you laugh with someone, you have something in common with them. So please support comedy. It speaks truth to power. It really does, so support your local comedian.”

Larry David probably already had curbed his enthusiasm about a final-season Emmy breakthrough for his veteran HBO series as he was a no-show at the Sunday ceremony which made it official: David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm ended its run as the show with the most Outstanding Comedy Series nominations, 11, without a win.
Curb was nominated for four Emmys this year including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for David, missing out on all to wrap its 12-season run with a total of 55 Emmy nominations and two wins, for Outstanding Single-camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series in 2012 and for Directing in 2003.

Cast and executive producers of ‘Shogun’ on stage at the 2024 Emmys (Disney/Frank Micelotta)
Father and son Eugene and Dan Levy did a respectable job of hosting the 2024 Primetime Emmys, popping in just enough throughout the two-hour running time to guide the show without overstaying their welcome. Their opening bit avoided any controversial topics, and Dan Levy got a big laugh when he described the Emmys as broadcast TV’s biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services. Eugene also earned solid applause when he joked, “In the true spirit of The Bear, we will not be making any jokes,” while addressing the show’s controversial classification as a comedy.
Speaking of The Bear, the series was awarded four Emmys during the broadcast in the Actor (Jeremy Allen White), Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Supporting Actress (Liza Colón-Zayas), and Outstanding Directing categories. But Hacks pulled off a surprise win, snagging the Comedy Series Emmy.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards just aired on ABC, and things went about as expected. In other words, the excellent historical drama Shōgun won Best Drama Series; the caustic slice-of-life series The Bear won Best Comedy Series, since I guess it's a little more like a comedy than Shōgun; and the autobiographical stalker drama Baby Reindeer won Best Limited or Anthology Series.
Those three were the big winners of the night, with them each taking home four awards. Jeremy Allen White won Best Actor In A Comedy Series as expected, and his costar Ebon Moss-Bachrach won Best Supporting Actor. On the drama side, Hiroyuki Sanada won Best Actor and Anna Sawai won Best Actress; she was the one I was really invested in. She was magnificent as Mariko and if she hadn't won I would have been forced to write a strongly worded letter to whoever votes in these things.

The 2024 Emmys ended with a bang as the HBO series Hacks shocked the TV world, taking home the award for best comedy series. While The Bear was expected to be this years front-runner, Hacks took home the award, its third of the night, also winning for best writing and best actress, which went to Jean Smart.

Only eight months after the last Emmy ceremony (which was delayed due to the strikes), the Primetime Emmy Awards are back, although there were some big surprises in store. Everyone (myself included) expected The Bear to own every category it was nominated in. While it did well, winning many big categories including Best Actor in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, it lost Best Comedy Series (and actress) to Hacks.
Netflix’s controversial limited series Baby Reindeer also cleaned up, nabbing awards for star and creator Richard Gadd plus co-star Jessica Gunning. Rise up, “Hacks” hive!
The beloved HBO series has officially won the 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for its long-awaited third season. “Hacks” stars Emmy winner Jean Smart and Emmy-nominated actress Hannah Einbinder as an aging (yet still iconic) stand-up comedian and her writing partner.
Smart has won an Emmy, SAG Award, and Critics Choice Award for playing Deborah Vance; Einbinder has been an Emmy, SAG Award, and Critics Choice Award nominee for her turn as Ava Daniels.
Shockingly, this is the first year that “Hacks” has won the coveted Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy. Both Smart and Einbinder were also nominated at the 2024 awards show.
Fellow nominated comedy series included “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Palm Royale,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” and the respective final seasons of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Reservation Dogs.”
“Hacks” is created and showrun by Emmy winners Paul W. Downs,...

Thanking his family and cast Sunday, White beamed, “This show has changed my life. It instills a faith that change is possible, that change is possible – if you’re able to reach out , you’re really, truly never actually alone.”
White plays Carmy, a onetime Michelin-starred chef who goes through a career crisis and is forced to take over his late brother’s Chicago Beef sandwich shop, which he struggles to transform amid financial turmoil and an off-the rails cousin, Richie, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach (who also took home his second Emmy win for The Bear tonight). Carmy ends Season 2 in a cliffhanger, locked in the fridge,...
