"Jett Jackson The Movie" is like a cross between "The Parent Trap" and "Pleasantville". Filmed near the end of the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson", it expands the series premise to a new feature length movie (this is all new stuff-not a group of old episodes edited together). As in the series, Lee Thompson Young plays the title character-a high school student who is also the star of a futuristic television series where he plays a teen action hero named Silverstone. At the beginning of the movie he is struggling with whether to renew his contract with the show, which is seriously cramping his school and social life. Meanwhile on the show his Silverstone character is unhappy working at Mission Omega Matrix.
One day on the set a malfunctioning prop transports him to a parallel world where he is actually the action hero he is playing. The accident causes him to switch places with his on- screen character, who is transported to Jett's world of family, school, and television. The remainder of the movie concerns the process of Jett and Silverstone figuring out what has happened to them and the challenges of taking over each other's lives. Both the series and the movie have excellent casts with Michael Ironside as the television villain Kragg, Lindy Booth as Silverstone's partner Hawk, Ryan Sommers Baum as Jett's friend J.B., and Kerry Duff (no relation to Hillary) as his love interest.
This is an entertaining film, especially for those who enjoy the series. It has the good production elements of more expensive Disney features including a lot of close-ups of the cast and some nice morphing effects. The series itself was a cheaper production, it relied mostly on wide shots and had minimal effects.
The film's limited popularity is probably because it is a bit too serious; they could have had a lot more fun with the premise. Young is not very good at expressing wide-eyed wonder at what is happening to either of his characters, he just looks stunned most of the time.
Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.

Before going in the review I have to warn you readers that I have never seen an episode of the JETT JACKSON show. Then why did I saw this TV movie you might ask? Well, I am trying to watch all of Michael Ironside's movies and this was the first TV movie I saw with him. With his TV movies I had to start somehow uh? As a result since I never saw the show on which it was based, I mildly liked it but not much more.
When the movie begins Jett Jackson (Lee Thompson Young) is seen doing an episode of his show SILVERSTONE and soon decides to quit. Later however there is a prop malfunction and he's sucked in the world of SILVERSTONE and the world of that show blends with that of Jett Jackson. Together they'll discover Dr Kragg (Ironside)'s evil plan of wanting to rule the world and they'll join forces for stopping him. After all this Jett will understand that he can't avoid to do SILVERSTONE and accepts of doing more seasons.
As I have never seen an episode of JETT JACKSON I was new to the concept but I liked this nonetheless because of the acting (with Ironside as usual playing a great villain) and CGI that was cool for 2001 standards.
A must for fans of the show that can also be enjoyed by those who have never seen the show like me.

This is a fun, well-made family's movie with good intentions. It's based off of the once-popular Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson," which I used to catch on TV once in a while. I always considered it the best of the Disney Channel TV shows (the rest are all mostly lame and unfunny and repetitive) and the movie adaptation is acceptable for what it is.
The best aspect is that the film approaches the series with a fresh idea and manages to come across as a child's version of "Mission: Impossible." It begins with Jett (Lee Thompson Young) deciding to quit his famous role of teen-agent Silverstone, a top-secret action hero. However shortly after quitting the role (at the disapproval of friends and family) he's struck on the head and lapses into a long dream wherein he IS Silverstone, and no one else seems to believe he's an actor.
In his dream, the villain Kragg (Michael Ironside, devious and menacing as usual) has perfected a means to travel between universes, and Jett has to stop him before he invades the "Real World." This movie is nothing special and it's just a made-for-TV Disney movie, aimed at kids, so it has to be graded as such. Lee Thompson Young is a fine actor and has charisma - he handles the action sequences well, no matter how ridiculous they are.
In the end it's easy to smirk at this and be a cynic, but it is intended for children and as such works well within the restraints. Of course the concept is silly and childish, but that's the point. It's enjoyable, unpretentious and isn't insulting like the other Disney "Original" Made-for-TV films.
Worth catching if you see it on TV sometime, providing you have children. (Or are a child at heart.)

This movie was sooo awsome for a Disney Orignal movie! The action was great, the acting was awsome, there was even some romance to make this movie truly amazing. I've always been a fan of the TV show and now that this movie came out I love it even more. I'm buying when it comes out MARCH 2002!!!

Story is boring, the acting is bad on so many levels that it is horrifying to watch. Production... Omg.... How can you cut a movie in so many pieces and stick them together again, is beyond me. Every look on a face has its own cutscene. Why? You are only killing the drama and not creating one. Movie is total garbage. I have literally seen youtubers do a much, much better job than this movie. Don't watch it, You can use this movie as torcher device.

Jett Jackson: The Movie is a real thriller and when watching it one can't help but wonder why it wasn't released theatrically. Martial arts scenes are flawless and the special effects are top caliber. As for the plot it is nearly impossible to sum up except to say that teen television star Jett Jackson and the character he plays, spy Silverstone switch lives in a mix-up of the space/time continuum. As with everything else about this movie the acting is also as good as it gets with Montrose Hagins as Miz Coretta standing out as the best. Thought provoking and recommended.

This movie has a really neat reason to tell about in the movie. First of all, everyone is all older in this movie as this being the conclusion or shall I say "cancelling" of the original television series. Lee Young (who goes by Lee Thompson Young and plays Jett Jackson and Silverstone), is a really good actor and I am surprised that he has only been in like 4 big movies total. Kerry Duff who plays "Kayla" is so much older than anyone could have guessed. What are they supposed to be somewhere around high school and 17 in the movie, whereas Kerry Duff is like 21 years old. Ryan Sommers Baum is really good as "J. B.", Jett Jackson's best friend in the movie and series.
The main concept of the movie is how Jett Jackson and Silverstone switch places in the movie. I am not going to tell you how, because I don't want to spoil it. And when they switch places they learn something and find out about each others' lives. It really has a good meaning to it, and good special effects, and a touching ending. This is definitely on my "Top 5 Disney Movies"! If you are like me and saw all of the commercials for this movie about 15 times, then you know that Disney does give away a lot of info about the movie, sometimes even spoils it. But anyway, "Jett Jackson: The Movie" is definitely to be viewed by movie lovers at least once because it is best the first time viewed and make sure that you see it from the beginning and not in the middle and even if you tend to not like it, see the end. You will be impressed at how nicely it turned out.

I really enjoyed this movie. Lee Tompson Young did a wonderful job. Their was great acting, good stunts, and an original story from Disney. I doubt that any other original movie will be any better. This one is one of the best and I suggest if it's on that you watch it.

The movie is awesome. How can a TV movie be any better. Disney offers up plenty of action in this movie. The explosion sequence is pretty neat. The special effects are neat too. Most TV movies are very stupid. I like both "Zenon" movies and "Phantom of the Megaplex". I also like "Mom's Gotta Date With a Vampire". But Jett has some weird sequences that have never been seen in a Disney Channel movie. The sequence with New York without sound and color is needless to say WEIRD! Lee Young does decent job acting this thing out. Keep up the good work Disney Channel. I hope "The Jennie Project" is good quality too.
This is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Great casting. It's about Jett and Silverstone, who trades places. Jett is in Silverstone's world and Silverstone is in Jett's world. Jett has to save the world in Silverstone's world and stop Dr. Kragg for stealing cities of the World. Kragg can change into anyone he wants to. If you haven't seen it, go and see it. It comes to video March 2002. So rent it, tape it , or just watch it. Recommended to anyone who likes The Famous Jett Jackson and for people who like action, romance, and humor. It's a must see.

Great for the kids or any young children, from the ages of 5 - 16, hell, even adults can like it! Amazing story line, acting is superb and this is just all around fantastic. One of the best original Disney movies, I cannot believe how good the effects are, I'm very happy I watched this. Plus the the main actor is cute to boot, cute smile, bright teeth, beautiful slanted eyes. I recommend this if you want an action packed, suspense movie with a hint of comedy and you know how every Dis movie is, has to have a love interest. But regardless of the silly love parts, I cannot stress how wonderful this is. This is how Disney movies should be made!!

I've been catching the show at the wee hours in the morning. I then decided to check up on it online and come to find out, it had a movie. I liked the show so much that I actually ordered the movie(I couldn't believe myself), but now I've been watching it over and over. It's really good. When I was reading reviews and hearing people say how good Lee was, I always think people over-exaggerate. This time though, people were right on. Lee really understands the contrast in the two personalities of the characters of Silverstone and Jett and does acceptional in his acting placing them in their opposite universes. The action was pretty and not just for a Disney movie, but your typical movie and it's got me wondering how much the budget of this film was. I also thought the martial arts was pretty decent. It sure beats the horribly choreographed power rangers martial arts. This is definitely the best Disney TV film ever. They really pulled out all the stops this time. Job well done and I'm surprised that they didn't try to make more movies. I guess it's not too late since they seem to like making sequels to things like Zenon and such. I suppose though, that the actors have probably moved on.
First of all let me get this out of the way, I have never watched The Famous Jett Jackson on Disney Channel. This is going to be a review that is focused on how this movie works as a standalone movie without having watched the series and after watching this movie, I'm definitely going to watch The Famous Jett Jackson, because this movie was phenomenal and that's saying a lot given this is a Disney Channel Original Movie.
Positives for Jett Jackson: The Movie (2001): The thing that I'll remember this movie for is the story. You have this kid in high school who is very famous thanks to the TV Show that he works, but at the same time, it's caused him to miss a lot of important events that you can only experience once as a kid, so he's considered leaving the show to focus on having a life only to swap places the fictional character that he portrays onscreen and stuff goes down in both worlds. At the center of that plot is a phenomenal performance by the late Lee Thompson Young as both Jett Jackson and Silverstone. He manages to play both these characters off very well. All of the side characters from both worlds are very entertaining and enjoyable in many ways. I also really the journeys these two characters go throughout the runtime and I like how their journeys wrap up by the end.
Negatives for Jett Jackson: The Movie (2001): This is a TV Movie from the early 2000s, so there are certain effects that don't age very well. Also, this is a Disney Channel Original Movie, so it's basically made for kids and there are time where you have to accept that.
Overall, As someone who's never watched the show that this movie is based on, I highly enjoyed Jett Jackson : The Movie (2001) and now it has given me the motivation to actually watching The Famous Jett Jackson.

This movie was everything I expected and more. It had a touch of everything. It has a bit of romance, action, and suspence. I loved learning more about Silverstone, he doesn't get enough screen time where they explore him in depth (though i understand it is hard to explore two characters in a half hour show.) There's also a lot they could do with the show if they play off what was in movie. All in all, it makes a great movie which i'm glad I taped because I'd love to watch it over and over again. I've already seen it twice. =)
