Donning the exact same costume from the song ‘Yeh Raat’, she went on to recreate the dance in a small post on her Instagram.
While imitating the moves, she was also posing in a glamorous light with Neha Kakkar’s song ‘Kar Gayi Chull’ in the background.
Before that, she also posted pictures of herself donning her mother’s getup.

Reflecting upon her Bollywood career, actress Raveena Tandon opened up about the time when heroines were more often typecast as mere love interests, and also revealed the secret about her craft.
In the weekend episode of ‘India’s Best Dancer 3’, Raveena will grace the stage as a special guest.
Judge of the dance reality show, Geeta Kapur asked Raveena about her daring choices during an era when heroines typically picked safe characters to play, saying, “Getting heroine-oriented roles back then usually meant sweet, beautiful characters that heroes would fall in love with. However, your portrayal in ‘Aks’ was different and much darker. I don’t recall heroines often opting for such roles during that time.”
Revealing her perspective on the same, Raveena shared: “You are absolutely right, Geeta. During that era, heroines were apprehensive about being typecast, and we often found ourselves in roles portraying sweet, affluent father-daughter dynamics, often...

Mumbai, July 26 (Ians) Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, whose classic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ recently clocked 10 years of its release, has shared the key to such a brilliant earworm of a soundtrack of his film.
The filmmaker shared with Ians that music was a catalyst to crafting the soundtrack of the sports drama which starred Farhan Akhtar in the titular role of Indian track and field athlete Milkha Singh.
Walking down the memory lane, the director told Ians, “We only spoke about food and I used to cook food in the morning or the night before our sitting. Shankar Mahadevan (of Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy) used to do the same. When we met for music sessions we would only talk about, ‘Aaj khane mein kya hai?’. Or what to do about the food. Artists who found themselves recording music in lockdown last year were often split between two creative paths: those geared towards introspection, and those who anticipated the post-pandemic hedonism to come in summer 2021. Loraine James, meanwhile, found a way to synthesize both states of mind. The London-based producer’s latest album, Reflection, delivers fully on the promise of its title, not only offering a nuanced, distorted take on the sound of U.K. club music, but also closely examining — through its anxious beats, fragmented lyrics, and occasional serenity — what it means...

It’s a Thursday afternoon in December, and on the big screen at the Sony scoring stage, swords are flashing, arrows are flying and soldiers in ancient Chinese garb are spinning in midair.
Composer Harry Gregson-Williams is conducting a 90-piece orchestra in his score for Disney’s “Mulan” (currently available on Disney Plus), the live-action remake of the 1998 animated classic about a girl who disguises herself as a man to take the place of her ailing father in battle. “Brass, mezzo forte at bar 103,” he says just before a take. “Lots of energy! Tense buttocks!” he adds, to the laughter of musicians.
The lights dim, the red recording light is illuminated, and for three minutes the stage echoes with the sounds of pounding percussion, screaming brass and fast-moving string figures. Cue 8M37, “The Emperor Is Taken,” is in the can, and director Niki Caro pronounces it “amazing.”

Warning: this post contains spoilers from the 2020 theatrical version of “Mulan”
The live-action version of “Mulan” premiered last Friday on Disney+.
The remake, which stars Liu Yifei as the titular heroine, differs quite a bit from the 1998 animated version. But a special cameo in the 2020 version ties the two films together. Read ahead for spoilers.
Towards the end of the film, after Mulan has rescued the emperor (a bearded Jet Li) from the hands of warlord Bori Khan (Jason Scott Lee), there is a grand scene in the palace.
There’s a reverse shot of a woman in elaborate robes making her way to the throne. Viewers are led to believe that the woman is Mulan.
It *is* Mulan, albeit the actress who voiced her in the 1998 animated film: Ming-Na Wen.
Wen, who is billed as the “esteemed guest” in the credits, makes an introduction and then steps aside to reveal Liu’s Mulan.

Disney’s new live-action adaptation of Mulan might not be a movie musical, but that doesn’t mean it is without music. The Niki Caro-directed film, which dropped on Disney+ for “premium access” this weekend, has a score composed and conducted by Harry Gregson-Williams that makes up most of the official Mulan soundtrack. However, the film soundtrack also features two versions of “Reflection,” a tune made famous in America by Christina Aguilera for the soundtrack of the original 1998 animated feature. Twenty-two years later, Aguilera is singing another rendition of “Reflection” for the film’s soundtrack—one of two versions of the song that appears on the 2020 soundtrack. (The other is a Mandarin-language version of the song sung by Mulan star Liu Yifei.) The return of “Reflection” seems to be the main exception to Disney‘s efforts to distance the new, live-action film from the animated version as a way...

Disney's live-action Mulan was released on Sept. 4, and the new take on the classic story includes a few changes. That's the point of a remake, right? While not having certain characters and adding in new ones, as well as tweaking main events, is all well and good, part of what made us fall in love with the original film was its incredible soundtrack. So, is the new film be a musical? Not exactly.
Though the new film doesn't have actual musical moments, like a synchronized performance to "I'll Make a Man Out of You," you do hear some iconic tracks. The live-action adaptation weaves the popular songs into the film by playing instrumental versions in certain scenes. If the only reason you were looking forward to the reboot is for the music, this will no doubt come as a disappointment, but rest assured that director Niki Caro brings something original...

It’s been over 20 years since the original Mulan movie hit our screens and now Disney is blessing us with a remake of the princess-with-a-twist tale. Forget sparkly slippers and a true love’s kiss, Mulan leads her army to victory in her fight for freedom.
The phenomena that became Mulan was originally set to be a short based on an oppressed woman who finds love with a soldier who sweeps her off her feet, but doesn’t find independence. But Disney didn’t want to work on that. The Mulan we all know and love wouldn’t be anything if she wasn’t the independent and resilient girl that we saw. Far from that of the typical princess, Mulan’s love life even comes second to her ambition and drive to protect her family (and identity in doing so). With no need for frocks and fancy, Mulan was a...

The 1998 animated Disney’s Mulan introduced many in Western audiences to the legend of a young Chinese woman who disguised herself as a man to fight against an invading army. But the legend of Mulan had been around a lot longer—the first transcription of the story appears in the sixth century, and the earliest film version appeared in 1927. If you just can’t get enough of Mulan, check out these other versions of her story.
The Ballad of Mulan (1998)
While this picture book is geared at a young audience, it’s notable because it includes the text of one of the early poem versions in the untranslated Chinese, alongside a prose translation by author-illustrator Song Nan Zhang. It also came out the same year as Disney’s animated feature, which means young readers could have picked it up around the same time they saw the film on the big screen.

A few years back, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who is one of the most respectable names in the movie business today, drew a lot of flak for his film Aks that starred Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon and others.
Even though the film is history now, the news is that Mehra now wants to re-edit the film for the DVD version of the same. Talking about this, he says that post the film's theatrical release, one cannot go back to the shooting floor, but he can edit the film crisply and make the story telling more effective. He also added that the concept of re-editing offers the director a second chance to make the film more effective.
In fact post the release of his film Delhi 6, he re-shot it and changed the film's ending to what was planned originally.

Manoj Bajpai is known for his strong characters portrayed on-screen. The actor who has won many accolades for his roles in movies like Shool, Satya, Zubeidaa and Raajneeti amongst many others has been paired yet again opposite Big B in a negative role for his upcoming movie Satyagraha.
The National Film Award Winning actor prefers to do a villainous role while sharing the screen space with the mega star. He feels that no other character stands strong enough opposite Amitabh Bachchan and thus it is better to do a negative role.
“In an Amitabh Bachchan film, there’s no other role which is better than his. In such a situation it’s only the negative role which is as good as his, so it’s best to go for the negative. I must say in films like Aks, Aarakshan or even Satyagraha now, the roles were written very carefully,” said Bajpai.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are back in the thick of things. Though during last couple of years they haven't been as prolific as before, their association with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has worked for the composer trio. For Mehra's most ambitious film till date, Mirza Sahiba, they have been roped in as the composers. "They really bonded with Mehra during the making of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag," informs a source, "The filmmaker wanted complete dedication from all involved into making of this bipoic and was highly impressed with the compositions that Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy came up with. It was a difficult soundtrack to be put together as the music was entirely situational. Soon enough, Mehra was sure that it would be Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and no one else for his romantic action affair set in the contemporary times." This is pretty much an association that has made heads turn since for his two previous films,...

New Delhi, Feb 13: The Indian film industry, pegged at over $3 billion, produces over 1,000 movies annually. But acclaimed filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra describes it as a "cottage industry" and believes it will really evolve when it crosses the phase of "intellectual bankruptcy".
Indian cinema completes a century of its existence this year and Mehra, the maker of movies like "Aks", "Rang De Basanti" and "Delhi-6", says the baby steps towards "global" cinema have only just begun.
"It is a very comforting feeling for me at least, that now there is a life beyond a boy-girl romance (in cinema). I believe we are still a cottage industry and we are (slowly) growing out of it. We are an industry of a few families and a few.

This week Raveena Tandon has much reason to rejoice. She has won the Best Actress award for her performance in Sudipto Chattopadhyay's Shobhna's 7 Nights at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which concluded on October 7 with the announcement of Raveena's triumph.
Interestingly, there is only one acting award at the Houston Bollywood Film Festival which covers both the male and female category of nominations. Raveena therefore beat competition from Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi in Dibakar Bannerjee's Shanghai to get the award.
Squealing in delight from Houston after the announcement, Raveena said, "I've hardly received awards in my career so far. I did get the National award for Daman. But that was a one-off thing. I thought I deserved recognition for Shool and Aks. But I was seen as glamorous commercial actress. Hence, not eligible for awards. Now when I've played the most glamorous role of my life, I get the Best Actress award.

Mumbai, April 24: Critically acclaimed actress-director Nandita Das, who took a sabbatical to take care of her baby, is set to be back with a bang - but says she would rather stay away from mainstream cinema.
"I am very happy doing the kind of films that I do. Of course even that's a gamble, not all the films turn the way it is imagined. It's strange, even after 15 years people keep asking me why I don't do commercial films," Nandita said here.
Nandita has explored distinctive characters in her movies like "Fire", "Earth", "Bawandar", "Aks" and "I Am". Nevertheless, she maintains that she has nothing against mainstream commercial.

The Muppets marketing isn’t over just yet. The film will be released next week but here comes a new parody trailer – this time our fuzzy friends are taking on Bollywood. There isn’t any new footage here but the trailer, as expected, is utterly adorable and incredibly entertaining. Here’s the official synopsis:

He not only changes his look but also his manner and his voice. He truly becomes someone different with each new character he portrays. This actor slips so deeply into a role that while watching him on screen you find yourself wondering, “Who is that?” And it is not until you check the movie poster or the cast list that you realize you have seen another amazing performance by the fabulous Manoj Bajpayee.
