Publisher LJNs legacy has been left with many failures and games rated very low by critics. Their WWF titles are regarded as their only successful titles.
Hulk Hogan was featured as a playable wrestler in the Megadrive/Genises release of the game, as well as a few others. The SNES version was released a few weeks later and by that time Hulk Hogan had left the company, and was taken out of the SNES release. Very rare demo versions of the SNES game mostly handed out to major video game review and news magazines contained Hogan still on the SNES roster.
Most of the characters from the SNES and Genises version that where not included on both releases where later combined together on the sequel "WWF Rage In The Cage" on Sega CD
This game begun a large myth amongst video game rumours that while playing a Royal Rumble, if you eliminated the last opponent while the crowed was chanting, two hidden wrestlers, Doink The Clown and Kamala would enter the rumble. This rumour has since been laid to rest as being completely fake, and acclaim also backing it up by stating no hidden characters are locked away within the game. The rumour however circulated many gaming magazines between 1993 and 2000.
