    Not one of his best

Not one of Salvatores best, but still a good movie. The "rewind scene" is unexpected and all the stories well cross one another. Abatantuono is fine as usual, but I wonder how would have been the movie with Bisio playing Angelino. The impression is that Salvatores has abandoned the typical italian stories like the one painted in Marrakesh Express or in Tournee to run after more international plots. As an italian I am a bit disappointed. When I first saw Marrakesh Express I thought I was seeing a part of my life on screen and, like me, most of the italian boys of that generation did. Here we are in front of a movie with a "movie" plot, in a few word something that normal persons never go through during their lives (notwithstanding I have physically been at the Amnesia in Ibiza). Nice to see, but not emotionally involving like his first movies.

Intrigue , comedy , action movie by Gabriele Salvatores and being set in the wonderful island of Ibiza

Co-production Italian-Spanish written and directed by Gabriele Salvatores , a good and original filmmaker . In the luxurious island of Ibiza meet several people at a funeral and for three days we will know a few : mainly Sandro (Diego Abatantuono) , a fifty-years-old man producing pornographic films and he is in Ibiza to shoot one of them . And he is embarrassing when his seventeen-year-old daughter (Martina Stella) , born of a casual relationship and who was at internal school in Florence , warns that comes to the island to spend the holidays with him . Also Angelino (Sergio Rubini) , ruler of a small bar and occasional marijuana dealer , whose highest aspiration is to live with Alice (Maria Jurado) and have a child . He suddenly encounters a suitcase full of drug and the problems emerge . The third is Xavier, the local police chief who lives in conflict with his son Jorge ( Ruben Ochandiano) , a rebellious and nonconformist twenties.

This exciting film contains action , drama, intrigue ,humor and results to be pretty entertaining . Based on a story and screenplay by Gabriele Salvatores , also Ramón Salazar as collaborator for adaptation who appears as a secondary actor playing Emilio. The flick is formed by various inter-crossed stories and all of them wind up into a twisted finale . The picture relies heavily on the fathers-sons relationships between Italians : Diego Abatantuono- Martina Stella and Spanish : Puigcorbe-Ochandiano . Exaggerated playing and overacting by Sergio Rubini whose problems upset by a sudden discovery of a cache of dope . Acting wise the film works excellently , as good main and support cast formed by nice Italian/Spanish players such as Alessandra Martines as Virgilie , Martina Stella as Luce , Juanjo Puigcorbé as Xavier , Rubén Ochandiano as Jorge , María Jurado as Alicia , Antonia San Juan as Pilar , and the British Ian McNeice as Doug Chandler . Interpretation was wonderful, script, visual, sound, everything about this film is a tribute to island of Ibiza. Colorful and glimmer photography , including ¨split screen", by Italo Petriccione who is usually in charge of Salvatores' cinematography ; however , it's necessary a right remastering . Musical score is formed by Disco-music from ¨Amnesia¨ , the famous and internationally known Discoteque , and songs played by Spanish bands as Martin Fuke and Macaco .

The motion picture was efficiently written and realized by Gabrielle Salvatores .The constant theme of his movies is the escape from the problems of the modern world and the most of his movies include philosophical themes . Almost always casts Diego Abatantuono; frequently also casts Sergio Rubini . Among his most important films are ¨Nirvana¨ , ¨I'm not scared¨ , ¨Marrakech Express¨ ,¨ Quo Vadis baby ¨ , his successful and Oscarized ¨Mediterraneo¨ and of course ¨Amnesia¨.

    Salvatores stumbled across fans.

I saw Amnèsia after the presentation of the cast, made by Salvatores himself: he briefly described a synthesis of the plot and the editing way that he had chosen for his new title.

There are two stories: the adorable Abatantuono, a father who's life is animated by the arrive of his teen daughter, Martina Stella, which brings the opportunity to know each other. Second story involves the nervous acting of Sergio Rubini with his lifestyle problems upset by a sudden discovery of a suit-case.

    The plot is happily tedious.

The cinematography by Italo Petriccione it is so warm and involving, as always was in all Salvatores's movies shot nearby the seaside: one for all Mediterraneo.

I like Salvatores's movies, but this one is definitely a step backwards compared with Puerto Escondido, Mediterraneo.

Amnèsia is a metaphor of society: appear and entertain ourselves is the only way to escape from reality...

Salvatores makes a sort of "Pulp Fiction"'s story, where comedy and drama are linked together, with a fragmented narrative structure and the same story analyzed from two different points of view. The setting of the movie is an hypnotic Ibiza, with discotheques, clubs, coffee shops and bordellos; the principal theme is the eternal conflict between fathers (D. Abatantuono - J. Puigcorbè) and sons (M. Stella - R. Ochandiano): these stories are mixed with sex scandals and drugs problems. Interesting are the technical aspects: when the two stories are going to mix, Salvatores starting to use the "split screen", ending only when all the characters are together. A good movie, also because is uncommon and different from other Italian productions.

P.s.: sorry for my incorrect English!

    Agree with (nini-@libero.it)

...and funny was that, like in real life, nobody listen or understand you when you still saying something really important, like the deadly end of the fat-man :)

    Really Good film !!!

Enjoy (like ever) the Abadantuono interpretation. Very big Rubini and others actors (especially the two Ibarréta).

Don't like so much the Stella acting, but is only my opinion...

Good story, original montage (assembly). IMO better of Nirvana. Not better of Marrakesh Express (my favorite).

Great Salvatores, making happy to be Italian !
