Netflix is removing 34 movies and TV shows from the streaming service in October 2024, and we have the full list of titles that are set to expire.
Unfortunately, this is a monthly occurrence for the streamer, and there’s always a few fan faves included. Often, it’s due to licensing deals expiring and sometimes, titles will often end up popping up on other streamers.
There are some horror films being removed, so if you’re in the Halloween spirit, you might want to watch some of the Chucky franchise titles before they’re taken away! Other notable titles leaving include Save the Last Dance, the Magic Mike films, Jack Reacher films, Crazy Rich Asians, and more.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular and long-hailed gaming franchises of all time. This is one of those very few video game series with whom we could actually connect our emotions from our very childhood. From Brotherhood to Unity or from Syndicate to Shadows, the franchise has come a long way.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Slow Horses Season 4 premiere “Identity Theft.”] Agent down! Actually… The consistently excellent Slow Horses begins its fourth season with a bombing at a shopping center and a shooting that results in Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) being called to identify the body of one of his own. River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) is at first unsure about going to see his grandfather, David (Jonathan Pryce)—he has dementia and thinks he’s being watched—but Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar) convinces him otherwise. Despite being told he’s his grandson, David shoots the man who enters his house. Jackson then is brought in and identifies the body as River’s. However, Jackson then goes to Catherine Standish’s (Saskia Reeves) because he knows River’s alive and there—his car is outside. River’s no longer there, but David is. Below, Reeves talks about that gesture of trust, Jackson and Standish’s tense dynamic,...

It's honestly almost impossible to imagine anyone besides Mads Mikkelsen portraying Dr. Hannibal Lecter on the cult NBC series "Hannibal," as the Danish actor fully embodies the show's version of the character. He is Hannibal Lecter, at least onscreen: a Machiavellian manipulator with an obscene wealth of knowledge, an impeccable sense of style, and a tendency toward eating people. His chemistry with his co-stars is undeniable, especially with Hugh Dancy, who plays empath and criminal profiler Will Graham. But back when NBC and series creator Bryan Fuller were first developing the show, they floated some very different actors before finally deciding on the magnificent Mikkelsen.
Fuller has revealed in interviews that he had to fight a bit to get Mikkelsen cast, because the network wanted someone "more mainstream" than the man mostly known to American audiences as the bloody-teared villain Le Chiffre from "Casino Royale." Thankfully he got his way...

God of War creator David Jaffe has never been one to mince words, and his latest target is none other than The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann. In a recent video featuring Days Gone director John Garvin, Jaffe took aim at Druckmann’s creative choices in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, particularly the decision to have protagonist Nathan Drake retire from his adventuring lifestyle.
Jaffe’s criticism centers around the idea that Druckmann’s ego, rather than the needs of the franchise, drove the decision to drastically change Nathan Drake’s character arc in the fourth installment of the beloved action-adventure series.

First things first: Yes, Francis Galluppi is going to be directing a new movie in the “Evil Dead” franchise. And no, he can’t tell you anything about it. He can, however, prove his bona fides as a horror and suspense fan in our Zoom interview by pointing to the “Evil Dead” poster in his office and the “three Necronomicons on my desk.”
Galluppi landed the coveted gig after Sam Raimi saw Galluppi’s feature film debut, “The Last Stop in Yuma County,” the acclaimed thriller that arrives in theaters and on digital this week. Shot in 20 days on a budget of “about a million” dollars, the film is set almost entirely at road stop diner in an unspecified past era where traveling salesmen and rotary phones are still prevalent. According to The Wrap, Pruitt Taylor-Vince has been cast as Jonathan Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. I can’t say that’s who I expected to play Clark Kent’s adoptive human father in the movie, but I’ve always been a big fan of the actor, who has appeared in everything from The X-Files to Deadwood to The Walking Dead.
Pruitt Taylor-Vince will join the long line of actors who have brought Jonathan Kent to life in movies and television, including Glenn Ford in the original Superman movie, John Schneider in Smallville, Kevin Costner in Man of Steel, and many more. As I mentioned above, Taylor-Vince might not feel like the obvious choice for the role, but he’s a true talent and I hope fans give him a chance.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Identity Crisis", Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) meets an old friend, Lieutenant Commander Susanna Leijten (Maryann Plunkett), the only surviving member of a mission they both went on years before. It seems that their compatriots have gone missing or stolen shuttlecrafts to return to the planet Tarchannen III, where they were last united. Soon after her arrival, Leijten also begins exhibiting weird behavior, twitching nervously and demanding a visit to Tarchannen III. Her body begins to mutate. Her fingers fuse together and eerie blue veins appear on her skin. Her eyes turn yellow. It's all Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) can do to slow the mutations.
Geordi, while unattended, also suddenly begins to mutate. He eventually returns to Tarchannen III, having turned into a near-invisible creature that can only be seen under a special blacklight. Leijten has to overcome her own...

Writer-director Brandon Cronenberg proves a proper chip off the old block with his second feature, Possessor, a brilliantly directed and startlingly original sci-fi horror that’s worthy of instant classic status. In fact, it’s fully deserving of a place alongside his father’s very best films, it’s that good.
Opening with an immediately unsettling stabbing sequence, the film centres on Tasya Vos (Andrea Riseborough), a seasoned assassin who’s able to “possess” unsuspecting strangers and use their bodies to commit murder-for-hire, thanks to brain-implant technology developed by her employers. However, repeated exposure to the procedure has taken a cumulative psychological toll on Vos and she’s beginning to have trouble separating her own psyche from that of her unsuspecting hosts after a job.

Hollywood loves a franchise. Soon, our nostalgia obsessed monoculture will be treated to a "Harry Potter" reboot series and a definitely necessary "Twilight" revival. Now, we've learned that a new Jason Bourne movie is on the way from "All Quiet on the Western Front" director Edward Berger. As it stands, Berger is the only one attached to the project and it's still very early days. But the news of a potential new Bourne movie should be exciting for fans of the franchise and action movies in general. Either that, or they'll be dismayed that Universal is churning out yet another installment after 2016's disappointing "Jason Bourne" and 2012's exquisitely forgettable "The Bourne Legacy."
The Bourne movies are a great example of a studio squeezing every bit of life out of a franchise it possibly can. After "The Bourne Identity" successfully adapted Robert Ludlum's novels to the big screen, we...

Nothing lasts forever, not even in the movies. Heroes, one way or another, die. Sometimes they're put out to pasture because people stop buying tickets to thrill to their exploits. And sometimes, they have, as Spock sagely noted in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," outlived their usefulness.
When that latter moment arrives for a once-beloved protagonist, you could do worse than to call in writer-director James Mangold. Few Hollywood filmmakers move more deftly between crowd-pleasing movies and prestige pictures. He's directed Angelina Jolie and Reese Witherspoon to Oscar wins, made an upscale slasher flick ("Identity"), and knocked out a serviceable B Western with A-list actors ("3:10 to Yuma"). His highs can be pretty high, while his lows are, thus far, no lower than 2001's "Kate & Leopold."
But over the last six years, he's proven particularly adept at crafting melancholy blockbuster send-offs to franchise favorites. 2017's "Logan," which stars...

Sharon Horgan could be set to follow in the footsteps of another acclaimed multi-hyphenate, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, by earning Emmy bids for both writing and starring in a beloved show. While Waller-Bridge achieved that feat for her comedy “Fleabag,” Horgan could do it for her Apple TV+ drama “Bad Sisters.” Horgan co-created, starred in, and wrote several episodes of this hit show, which follows the five Garvey sisters who plot to murder John Paul (Claes Bang), the abusive husband of Anne-Marie Duff‘s Grace Garvey.
The show flashes between two timelines — one in which the sisters try to kill John Paul and one in which a pair of insurance investigators (Brian Gleeson‘s Thomas and Daryl McCormack‘s Matthew) try to prove the sisters’ involvement in John Paul’s death to save their own business.
Horgan teamed up with “New Girl” scribes Brett Baer and Dave Finkel to adapt the hit Belgian show “Clan.

During the mythical Golden Age of Hollywood, the romantic-comedy genre could be relied upon as a consistently entertaining, star-studded, and profitable performer at the box office, year in and year out. We've fallen quite a long way in the years since despite some recent breakthrough hits like "Crazy Rich Asians" or last year's double-whammy of "The Lost City" and "Ticket to Paradise." Instead of studios going out of their way to court genuine movie stars and put their charisma and charm on display for moviegoing audiences to enjoy vicariously, we've ended up in a place where those once-ubiquitous theatrical features instead struggle to justify their existence ... if they even make it to theaters at all.
That brings us to "At Midnight." On the surface, it has all the makings of a much-needed throwback date night at the movies, in the vein of "Roman Holiday" before it (which gets a shout-out...

It turns out that a cryptic Twitter post can mean a lot more than just reminiscing about your favorite superhero. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that James Mangold is in negotiations to direct the recently-announced "Swamp Thing" film for DC Studios. While Mangold was not mentioned during the private press event revealing the new DC Universe movie and TV show slate, it appears he will be among the first of many directors to bring these projects to the screen.
"Swamp Thing" itself is expected to be the darkest movie of DC Studios' theatrical fare, with co-ceo Peter Safran teasing it as a look into the character's horrifying origins. The most common iteration of the character is biologist Alec Holland, who became the creature after a botched heist in his Louisiana laboratory. It is likely that Holland will be the film's focus, although other iterations of the character, such as Levi Kamei,...

The Pitch: Charlie Kaufman, played by Nicolas Cage, writes himself and his fictional twin Donald into his screenplay as he adapts Susan Orlean's nonfiction book "The Orchid Thief."

A new 4K Ultra HD release of "Adaptation" came to Blu-ray and DVD last month as the Oscar-winning 2002 film was celebrating its 20th anniversary. Stoker Hills gets down to business early, starting with a lecture on film by Professor Smith. That gets the film’s celebrity cameo out of the way in the film’s first five minutes. It also uses those scenes to introduce the three of his students who will be the film’s leads, aspiring filmmakers Ryan, Jake (Vince Hill-Bedford; American Fighter) and Erica.
While shooting their class project, a zombie hooker film entitled Streetwalkers, which was also Stoker Hills’ original title, a car drives by and stops just long enough to drag Erica in before racing off with Ryan and Jake in pursuit with their camera still running.
They don’t return but the camera is found and two of the town’s cops...

David Brenner, the Oscar-winning film editor who worked on a string of blockbusters as well as nine films for director Oliver Stone, died on Thursday. He was 59. The news was confirmed by Avatar producer Jon Landau, with whom Brenner had been working on the sequels.
Landau called Brenner’s editing skills “extraordinary,” but said what was most impressive about him was “his remarkable compassion for others and the love and commitment he had for his family.”
Over three decades in the film business, Brenner worked with top directors on a remarkable number of big-budget hits, including Independence Day, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League (both versions) and the Avatar sequels.
He first worked with Stone on 1986’s Salvador as an assistant editor. That relationship grew through Platoon and Wall Street until Brenner moved up to co-editor — with Joe Hutshing — on Talk Radio.

David Brenner, an Oscar-winning film editor who worked on dozens of films including “Justice League,” “Independence Day” and “Born on the Fourth of July,” died on Thursday, Variety has confirmed. He was 59.
“He was an extraordinary editor and a loving, compassionate family man,” the American Cinema Editors, of which Brenner was a member, said in a statement. “In an effort to support David’s family during this terrible time, Lightstorm Entertainment has created this GoFundMe account. More important than any financial assistance this may provide, it’s an opportunity to let his wife Amber and his children Annie, Haider, and Sasha know how many other lives David touched.”
In 1990, Brenner won the Academy Award for film editing with director Oliver Stone’s “Born on the Fourth of July,” starring Tom Cruise. He shared the award with editor John Hutshing. Stone recruited Brenner to edit nine of his films, including “Platoon,...
