Come Midnight Monday is an Australian kids tv show I totally loved as a child. The show was based on David Burke's novel.
A group of teenagers team up to save an old steam train from being scrapped and replaced by a new highway. Although it's pretty melodramatic, the plot is pretty good (and pretty true to the original novel too) and it's environment friendly themes were ahead of it's time.
It's location shots were filmed in the Dandenongs and featured the classic Victorian steam engine Puffing Billy (Loco 12A to be exact). Every Melbourne school kid has been on a ride on Puffing Billy, so for it to be a major focus of a television show was pretty cool (especially for train mad young kids like me).
It's a shame this show has not been repeated since the mid-80s.
