Harrison Ford has been a leading man in the industry for more than 40 years. The actor has been a part of many iconic and acclaimed films that have shaped him as an actor. In addition to Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, films like Witness, Blade Runner, Presumed Innocent, The Fugitive, and Air Force One made him a huge movie star back in the day.

Despite being one of the most respected figures in the industry, some actors have expressed their underwhelming working experience with the actor, including Brad Pitt. Another one of his co-stars also voiced his complicated professional relationship with Ford.

Francis Ford Coppola's bleak Vietnam War picture "Apocalypse Now" is not only one of the best films of 1979, but is handily one of the finest, most important films of its decade. Using Joseph Conrad's 1899 novella "Heart of Darkness" as a template, Copolla transposed the book's action from the late 1800s Congo to the jungles of Cambodia, and, in so doing, exposed the madness and horror of the Vietnam War in harrowing, soul-hollowing terms. As Captain Willars (Martin Sheen) treks deeper and deeper into the chaos of the natural world -- drifting ever closer to the insane, cult-founding rogue Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando) -- reality begins to dissipate. Eventually, madness and violence are all that remain, and war is reduced to its base function: brazen, meaningless destruction and cruelty. "Apocalypse Now" is a great, great film.
Curiously, a lot of war enthusiasts love "Apocalypse Now," seemingly ignoring the film's...

Marvel star Anthony Mackie has responded to the uncertain future of multiverse villain Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. In a new interview with Inverse, Mackie affirmed that he won’t buy into the allegations of abuse until there is more evidence.
“We’re a country that was built on ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty,’” Mackie said in the interview. “That’s one of the staples of this country. Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say.

This summer’s highly anticipated film, Oppenheimer, sports an impressive list of cast members. One name on that list that some may not have heard from in a while is Josh Hartnett. Harnett was a rising star in the late 90s and early 2000s, and his name was apt for the time as he was, in fact, a heartthrob that would grace the covers of many magazines. It was his growing fame that actually made the actor want to step back and take a breath. He had been in films like Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down and says he was given offers for action films on the strength of those movies.
One of the films Hartnett made at the peak of his fame was a poorly received action comedy, Hollywood Homicide, which paired him up with Harrison Ford. Ford is beloved but also known for acting like a grump from time to time,...

The 2003 film "Hollywood Homicide" has mostly faded from memory now, but around the time of its release, everyone was talking about the rumored feud between the movie's stars, Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett. Now, 20 years later, Hartnett opened up about the rumors that he and Ford clashed during filming in an interview with The Independent.
According to the "Black Mirror" actor, the feud allegations were greatly exaggerated by the press. "Drama sold newspapers, especially back then," he told the publication. "But we actually got along really well."
Hartnett continued, "There were things that we disagreed about on set as far as [the script], and there was a lot of rewriting happening. But it was misinterpreted as 'they don't get along!' It certainly wasn't a set that was filled with tension. I think I did call him 'the bane of my existence' when we were on the press tour for that movie,...

Harrison Ford has had feuds with several big-name actors throughout the course of his career, from Alec Baldwin over the Jack Ryan role to Josh Hartnett on the set of Hollywood Homicide. And you can add Brad Pitt to that list, who Harrison Ford butted heads with while making the 1997 thriller The Devil’s Own.
While Harrison Ford does praise Brad Pitt overall, he says in a new Esquire profile that their issues stemmed from exploring their characters and developing the screenplay. “Brad developed the script. Then they offered me the part. I saved my comments about the character and the construction of the thing—I admired Brad. First of all, I admire Brad. I think he’s a wonderful actor. He’s a really decent guy. But we couldn’t agree on a director until we came to Alan Pakula, who I had worked with before [on 1990’s Presumed Innocent] but Brad had not.

The late '90s/early 2000s were a rough patch for Harrison Ford. Aside from 2000's "What Lies Beneath," the veteran star just couldn't seem to pick the right projects, with everything from 1999's "Random Hearts" to 2002's "Hollywood Homicide" (in which Ford agreed to star without seeing a finished script) struggling to make a critical or financial impression. But perhaps the lowest point came in 2002 when Ford starred in Kathryn Bigelow's sort of historical retelling of a narrowly averted Soviet submarine disaster, "K-19: The Widowmaker."
Loosely based on the story of the Soviet Union's first nuclear-powered submarine, which malfunctioned in 1961 and caused the death of 28 sailors from radiation poisoning, "K-19" was doomed from the outset. The film, as the Chicago Tribune put it, used a "fraction of the truth," noting that this was the National Geographic Society's first foray into blockbuster filmmaking. The company's then head...

Harrison Ford likes trying new things. While the actor does seem to keep coming back to certain roles like Han Solo and Indiana Jones, Ford insists that variety is the spice of life. For instance, in George Lucas' 1973 coming-of-age story "American Graffiti," Ford added some sweet, sweet Rodgers & Hammerstein tunes, just because he felt like it worked for the character. When it comes down to it, Ford just wants to be artistically fulfilled. And, honestly, no one can really blame him for that.
For a guy neck deep in extended franchises that are, for better or for worse, meticulously plotted out, there was a time when he longed for something a little more freeform. Something a little more creatively flexible. Something comical. Enter "Hollywood Homicide," a 2003 action comedy that didn't even have a complete script when he was offered the leading role. In fact, the half-finished screenplay was actually a selling point.

“Just Getting Started” is described on IMDb as “a two-hander action comedy” in the vein of “Midnight Run.” But anyone can see within five minutes that this mild and dawdling picture from writer-director Ron Shelton is the sort of trifle meant for a retirement-age audience who just want to spend a pleasant and uneventful hour-and-a-half with a few name actors of a certain age. There’s very little comedy here and even less action. Hollywood veterans Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones are primed for a reunion with Villa Capri, the action comedy in the works at Sierra/Affinity, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Not since 2003’s Hollywood Homicide have the Oscar-winning duo shared the screen, but that all changes with this bankable FBI romp. Penned by Ron Shelton (Bull Durham, White Men Can’t Jump), Villa Capri revolves around an ex-fbi agent and ex-mob boss, two sworn enemies from the get-go, who in a fit of panic are forced to place old rivalries on the back-burner after they’re targeted by the mob while shooting a round of golf.
THR didn’t disclose which roles Freeman and Jones are linked to, but the latter’s gruff, taciturn demeanour ought to make for some rip-roaring entertainment opposite Freeman. Citing Midnight Run as inspiration, Ron Shelton is also attached to helm Villa Capri, as Sierra...

But there’s frankly little in the way of comedy gold to be mined from Gervais’s latest venture, which he has written and directed.
It’s a mainstream bromantic comedy of medium-budget blandness produced specially for Netflix, and based on the 2009 French film Envoyés Très Spéciaux. The film gives us some satiric hints of Wag the Dog and Tropic Thunder – with a slight touch of the leaden and widely forgotten buddy movie Hollywood Homicide with Josh Hartnett and Harrison Ford. In 2010, as you may recall from the news, 33 men were trapped thousands of feet underground when the Chilean gold mine they were working in collapsed. Summer movie season is a magic time of year when Hollywood traditionally rolls out its most appealing merchandise. It’s true that some summer movie seasons are better than others. This is our ranking of all the summer movie seasons since 1980 from worst to best.
On January 20th, 1975, Steven Spielberg and Universal Studios released Jaws. The movie landscape would be forever changed from that date. Jaws is widely credited as being the first blockbuster film because it was the first movie to make over $100 million (non-adjusted). The fact that the film had a meager $8 million budget meant that it was a huge cash cow for the studio and rocketed Spielberg to the the forefront of a new generation of filmmakers for a new era of movie mass-consumption. George Lucas and Spielberg followed up in 1977 with Star Wars, which became a sensational and very profitable hit. It helped to convince production...

Have you noticed that non-romantic pairings of actors in Hollywood movies in recent years have largely followed the ‘big star/little star’ pattern? Mel Gibson and a young Robert Downey Jr. in Air America, Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett in Hollywood Homicide, Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg in 2 Guns – sometimes, it’s almost as if filmmakers are afraid the screen can’t hold more than one megastar at a time. Back in the day, we’d enjoy Robert Redford and Paul Newman together in the frame, or Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby. Now, Nicholas Stoller (Neighbors) and Adam McKay (Anchorman) are attempting to re-capture that level of mega-wattage by re-making the 1974 film, Uptown Saturday Night.
Originally written by Richard Wesley – the first screenplay by the successful playwright – Uptown Saturday Night was directed by Sidney Poitier, who also starred in the project alongside Bill Cosby and Harry Belafonte. With Poitier and Cosby as two friends,...

One can find a quite revealing, fascinatingly candid admission by Steven Spielberg on a documentary for Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull featured on the film’s DVD release. In it, he opens proceedings by admitting that, following the end to The Last Crusade, he felt he had brought the unlikely Indy trilogy to an appropriate conclusion with a well judged shot of Harrison Ford’s erstwhile hero literally riding off into the sunset. It meant that efforts by Ford and George Lucas to revive the franchise, an ongoing struggle lasting almost all of the intervening nineteen years between Crusade and the forth in the series, were initially met with staunch refusal. Spielberg had wrapped up his fan favorite.
Considering that he moved on to Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, he seemed justified in this stance. In the 2000s, he was still rated as...

It's a fallacy that everyone gets on together on a movie set. Just as in an everyday office, some people get on better with others. That's as you might expect. Baseball Biopic Surpassing Expectations: Will Easily Top Domestic B.O. Chart This Weekend Written and directed by Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential screenwriter), and starring Chadwick Boseman as pioneering black baseball player Jackie Robinson and veteran Harrison Ford as the Brooklyn Dodgers' team executive Branch Rickey, the biopic 42 was the no. 1 movie at Friday's domestic box office; it'll surely be the weekend's top film, too. As per early, rough estimates found on the web site Deadline.com, the period drama will be the only movie grossing more than $20 million at the domestic box office. (See below more information about Scary Movie 5 and last weekend's holdovers.) (Pictured above are an unrecognizable Ford as the Brooklyn Dodgers' team executive Branch Rickey and Boseman wearing Robinson's baseball uniform.) The 42 movie brought in an estiamted $8.5 million at 3,003 U.S. and Canada venues on Friday (April 12) and by Sunday evening may possibly...

Either David Zucker is trying to distract us from his latest turkey or we're all staring down the barrel of another Naked Gun movie
Trying to sell an inferior product to a sceptical public is no fun. Faced with this task, it's common for people in the movie business to try and distract us by claiming they are reviving a long-lost greatest hit.
To this day, Kiefer Sutherland's strategy for promoting his current series Touch is to bang on relentlessly about how he wants to make a 24 movie. Then there's Harrison Ford, who spent half a decade manfully propping up dreck such as Hollywood Homicide and Firewall by hinting at the return of Indiana Jones. The fact that Indiana Jones did eventually return, but as the world's most disappointing fridge-riding alien hunter, is simply an unfortunate by-product of this.
So there's a chance that David Zucker doesn't really want...

“Tolerating your ridiculousness is an assignment which I am no longer capable of preforming”
Comedy is very hard to pull off. It takes timing, finesse, restraint, and intelligence. Some people have it, and other’s do not. While many comics have funny moments in them, many simply shy away from outright comedy. It’s easier to have epic battles in outer-space with quirky one-liners than it is to have a whole comic devote solely to making the reader laugh. Buddy Cops, a one-shot from Dark Horse Comics is looking to fill that roll, but does it succeed?
The short answer is; sometimes. Since the original 48 Hrs film with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte, the buddy cop formula has been a mainstay of modern movies. Classics, such as Lethal Weapon, and not-so classics, such as Hollywood Homicide, have...

Harrison Ford hasn't had a great deal of luck choosing projects since the turn of the century. While it will be pretty damn hard to entirely ruin the legacy of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, making movies like Firewall, Crossing Over, Extraordinary Measures, and Hollywood Homicide has certainly put a bit of tarnish on it. But in 2013 he will have four chances to turn his bad streak around. He has the Robert Luketic thriller Paranoia, Rob Reiner's You Belong To Me, and the highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation Ender's Game - but before all of that he will be a part of the Jackie Robinson story in 42. As part of their 2013 preview, Warner Bros. has released three new stills from the true-life baseball biopic, two of which feature Ford as Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who first signed Robinson. This weekend, "Safe House" -- starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds -- opens in theaters. This may seem strange for those familiar with each star. After all, Washington, an Oscar winner, has been in films such as "Training Day," "Malcolm X" and "Glory," whereas People's Choice Award-winner Reynolds has starred in "The Green Lantern," "Van Wilder" and "Blade: Trinity." Obviously, "Safe House" is not the first movie to tinker with the "opposites attract" method. Putting two random actors together in front of a camera is a quick way to guarantee either big box office numbers ("Rush Hour") or one giant flop of a film ("Hollywood Homicide"). In honor of the Ryan-Denzel connection, Moviefone presents the Strangest Movie Duos in action films.* *We included action-comedy in there, because no one does "strange movie duo" like an action-comedy. Oh, Harrison Ford. As we documented in our Essentials feature in the summer, it's a long time since the actor, once one of the most reliable stars in Hollywood, has been on form. And it seems that every potential comeback, from "Hollywood Homicide" and "Crossing Over" to last year's "Morning Glory" and this year's "Cowboys & Aliens" has fallen short, even when, as in the last two cases, the actor's seemed to made more of an effort not to sleepwalk through the picture. The actor's still searching for that elusive non-Indy comeback role, and this week has seen some potentials circling, with the star being linked to the elder role in Gavin Hood's sci-fi epic "Ender's Game." Ben Kingsley took that part, but Ford's seemed to take a far more interesting role, as a press release obtained by Deadline revealed that Ford has signed on to the Jackie Robinson biopic,...

One movie star? That’s good. Three or more? Fine. Two? You’re looking at a critical mess, a box office flop, or both. But why? And why is star power in general falling?
Last month, I took a look back at the film of Michael Crichton’s novel, Disclosure. It’s comfortably, for me, the most dated movie of the 1990s, and it’s an oddity of a movie, for a few different reasons.
But the one thought I couldn’t get out of my head when writing it is that this was the last time I can remember when two major movie stars joined together in the same film, and it still worked as a piece of entertainment. More to the point, it worked, and was still successful at the box office.

Joe Roth has risen again to be one of Hollywood’s most prolific producers, so it’s easy to forget that he undertook one of the most disastrous studio ventures in recent times with Revolution Studios. The documents tell the story of a bygone, free-spending decade in Hollywood, when Roth paid big money to stars for movies that audiences no longer wanted to see, among them "Mona Lisa Smile," "Hollywood Homicide" and "Rent." “I...

For forty years, April has been a month not just to celebrate the Easter holidays or, in the case of this year, a Royal wedding, but to increase the awareness of Autism, a form of special needs that makes it hard for people to communicate and socialize.
As an autistic person, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to look at some of the films that do not just focus on this form of special needs, but that have also changed the way that these characters have been portrayed in numerous films from the late eighties and early nineties (Rain Man, Little Man Tate and I Am Sam).
From visual representations to delving into different genres that have not been seen before, the rise of awareness and understanding in society has been reflected in the media and we will take a look at three key films that have...

Will Kutcher and Bieber make as woeful a double act as Robert Carlyle and Samuel L Jackson, or Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy?
The script for What Would Kenny Do? has had a terrific birth. A buddy comedy about a 17-year-old boy guided by a hologram of himself as an adult, it made the prestigious Black List of unproduced screenplays three years ago, before being touched up by (500) Days of Summer's Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. Now Will Smith's production company is interested in finally taking it to the screen.
But don't get too excited. It's been reported that the two stars of What Would Kenny Do? look set to be Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber. Again, that's Ashton Kutcher – last seen playing Ashton Kutcher in a film about Ashton Kutcher being Ashton Kutcher. And Justin Bieber – last seen being shot to death on an episode of CSI.

He began his career as “Harry Ford,” appearing in George Lucas’ American Graffiti, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation and Apocalypse Now, before working as a carpenter when the acting gigs dried up. Then came Han Solo, Indiana Jones and suddenly Harrison Ford was one of America’s greatest movie stars, mixing a Gary Cooper-ish leading man charm with a distinct Everyman aura.
In the wake of a stream of utter disappointments (Six Days, Seven Nights, Firewall, K-19: The Widowmaker), Ford went back to well and donned his famous battered fedora in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That was a sorely needed hit for Ford, but does it really rate as a comeback? Let’s take a look:

Harrison Ford better hope next summer’s “Cowboys & Aliens” can resurrect his faded star. After 10 years of bombs, his career is on life support. It's been a tough spell for the screen legend. With the possible exception of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” Ford has spent the last decade in the box-office wilderness. Moreover, though "Kingdom" made $786 million worldwide, it was far from universally loved. “Firewall,” “K-19: The Widowmaker,” and “Hollywood Homicide” all arrived in theaters with a whimper. Assuming you count Hollywood Homicide, Harrison Ford makes his return to comedy after a seven-year absence in today's Morning Glory. But how did Ford get to this point after his big-screen debut wayyyy back at the tender age of 24? You can always trace a direct line through a handful of roles (not necessarily his best roles, mind you) to illustrate what led to an actor's current success, and with Ford, though still well respected, that line has had a bit of a downslope as of late -- well, until today. Let's look at eight performances -- including his very first -- that trace the evolution of one Harrison Ford.

It’s hard to know how much to expect from Morning Glory going in. Written and directed by the people behind easy, enjoyable fare like The Devil Wears Prada (Aline Brosh McKenna) and Notting Hill (Roger Michell) but starring perennial A-listers Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford alongside up-and-coming A-listers Rachel McAdams and Patrick Wilson, it promises the witty, nuanced characters of a James L. Brooks film with the shamelessly accessible comedy of a Nancy Meyers rom-com.
Sure enough, Morning Glory is the love child of both. Even the film’s setting, the “Morning News,” fits the bill: something that provides some intellectual depth underneath a thick shell of cooking tips and sensational journalism. Becky Fuller (McAdams) is the newly fired/newly hired upstart producer looking to turn ‘Daybreak’ (the fictional morning show for fictional network channel Ibs) around for a brutally honest, brutally sarcastic executive played by Jeff Goldblum with a surprising amount of vinegar.

I don't know that I expected great things out of Josh Hartnett when his career began, but he showed some signs of being a far more interesting actor than Pearl Harbor would indicate. (Check out O or Lucky Number Slevin.) But I did expect his career to be more top-of-mind, especially after he established himself.
His last wide release was 30 Days of Night and before that, look at this mess: The Black Dahlia, Hollywood Homicide, and Wicker Park. The best movie of the bunch during this time is 40 Days and 40 Nights. Yep. Now, I'm discounting his walk-on in Sin City and the movies that barely made it to theaters, but that's precisely the point.

This weekend, The Other Guys bust onto approximately 5,000 screens at 3,651 locations, while Step Up 3-D gets the party started on close to 3,000 screens at 2,435 locations. Inception, which has reigned for three weeks, will still be in the mix: its continued weekday strength suggests another slim decline. The Other Guys marks the second buddy action comedy of the year, following Cop Out. The sub-genre has generally been quite popular, including such past titles as 48 Hrs., Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys and Rush Hour (and their sequels), although there have been a number of flubs in recent years, such as The Man, Hollywood Homicide and Showtime. Cop Out performed modestly, opening to $18.2 million and closing with nearly $45 million, though another like-minded comparison for Other Guys would be Starsky & Hutch, which started with $28.1 million (or the equivalent of around $36 million adjusted for ticket price inflation) back in 2004. Other Guys' marketing campaign has been clear and consistent in its message,...
