An exceptionally witty, well constructed short, with a tight structure and a brilliant climactic sequence. Though clearly filmed on a shoestring budget, the acting, direction, camera-work and lighting are all excellent, and work together brilliantly. The central performance by the bored housewife is beautifully judged - her cold, distant relationship with her husband, the bland monotony of her daily routine, her self-deluding fantasies about her hopes for escape from her suburban life. The entire film is performed almost entirely without words - everything is expressed brilliantly and subtly through action and inaction, meaningful glances and romantic day-dreams. The writing is clever - episodes that seem initially to serve only to highlight the emptiness of the central character's life, come together brilliantly in the closing sequence. Hugely enjoyable.
