Wolfe pounces on 'Goldfish'
NEW YORK -- Having unveiled plans last summer to get into the theatrical distribution business, gay and lesbian banner Wolfe Video has acquiring North American rights to the Irish romantic comedy Goldfish Memory, which will be its second theatrical rollout. The company's first release will be Marco Filiberti's Poco piu di un anno fa (A Little More Than a Year Ago), which will open next month under the title Adored (HR 7/10/03). Goldfish, set for a spring release, was written and directed by Liz Gill, and won an audience award at last year's Outfest film festival. It follows a roundelay of romantic liaisons--that cross sexual and gender boundaries--in Dublin's dating world. Breda Walsh produced, with Brendan McCarthy executive producing. The film was developed with the assistance of Moonstone International. With consultant Orly Ravid directing the company's new theatrical efforts, Wolfe executive Maria Lynn said that Wolfe had been scouting for films at the recent Sundance Film Festival, and will have an acqusitions presence at upcoming festivals and markets including Berlin, AFM and Cannes.
