From Ratcatcher to Anacondacatcher? Deadline reports that Daniela Melchior is set to join Paul Rudd and Jack Black in the new Anaconda movie in development at Sony Pictures. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent director Tom Gormican is set to direct the project as well as co-write the script with Kevin Ettin. The project has apparently been in the works since early 2023, going through a lot of rewrites as they try to strike the correct tone.
It’s not known who Melchior will play in the Anaconda movie, but the project won’t be a remake of the ’90s classic that starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight. According to sources, “the new story involves a group of friends facing mid-life crises who are remaking their favorite movie from their youth. They head to the rainforest only to find themselves into a fight for their lives against natural disasters,...

From ants to snakes, Paul Rudd seems obsessed with the creepy crawlies.
Deadline is reporting that the “Ant-Man” star is currently up for an Emmy for “Only Murders in the Building” (and a second Emmy nomination for narration) and is in talks with Sony for a remake of the 1997 adventure picture “Anaconda” for Sony. Also rumored to be in the cast is the Grammy-winning actor and comic Jack Black. The screenplay was penned by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, who created the meta-Nicolas Cage adventure “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” and also wrote the recent “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” and Netflix. Gormican is set to direct.
Black recently made some news when his Tenacious D. partner Kyle Gass gaffed after the assassination attempt against Donald Trump onstage in Sydney. The “King Fu Panda” star then ended their decades-long partnership. Rudd, once highly regarded for his comic performances in smaller films,...

Jack Black and Paul Rudd are said to be in early talks to star in a reimagining of 'Anaconda'. The cult classic 1997 horror movie initially featured Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, and Owen Wilson, but Black and Rudd are in discussions about a new version helmed and co-written by 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' director Tom Gormican. The original movie told the story of a documentary film crew in the Amazon rainforest who were led by a snake hunter, who was hunting a legendary green anaconda. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources revealed the new version could see a group of friends head to the rainforest to remake a favourite film from their younger years, only for giant snakes, violent criminals and natural disasters to risk their lives. Black and Rudd are expected to portray either an actor whose Hollywood...

Paul Rudd and Jack Black are set to headline a reboot of the Anaconda movie franchise, as they seek to become snake fodder.
It looks like we may be getting another Anaconda film. You could probably have gleamed that from the headline though, to be fair.
While we could make a clever joke about the seemingly endless cycle of reboots, remakes and legacy sequels being somewhat akin to a snake eating its own tail, there’ll certainly be plenty of folks out there that that wish that there had been more Anaconda films, despite the series’ slide into made-for-television ignominy.
The first Anaconda released in 1997 and featured several stars with careers on the rise including Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Ice Cube. And let’s not forget that Jon Voight added his talents to the project as well. It was barmy fun, following ‘a film crew that is taken hostage by an insane hunter,...

Prepare yourself to be regurgitated by a giant snake all over again! Paul Rudd and Jack Black are in early talks to star in a new Anaconda movie based on the 1997 adventure horror starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight. However, it appears that there will be something of a meta twist with this project.
According to sources, “the new story involves a group of friends facing mid-life crises who are remaking their favorite movie from their youth. They head to the rainforest only to find themselves into a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes and violent criminals.” As for who Jack Black and Paul Rudd could be playing in the Anaconda movie, details are sparse, but sources mention two characters: a director stuck in his job as a wedding videographer and an actor who once did a stint on a police procedural who now sees his Hollywood dreams slipping away.

Before the streaming wars reinvented cable yet somehow made it worse, television series didn't need to be ratings giants to enjoy a long life. In point of fact, shows that attracted a consistent audience tended to survive long after whatever pristine new series executives had counted on becoming their next breadwinner inevitably faltered partway into its soon-to-be-short-lived run. (My sympathies to "Terra Nova.")
"Bones" was one such series for Fox. Despite the network's baffling efforts to sink Hart Hanson's modest procedural dramedy, the show was quick to draw a loyal crowd that followed it anywhere Fox thought to move it (even the dreaded Friday night "death slot"). In fact, the series actually peaked in terms of immediate viewership after just 11 episodes (out of 246!) with season 1's "The Woman in the Car," which aired on February 1, 2006, to an audience of roughly 12.64 million viewers and double the number of eyeballs. Here's something you probably didn't expect to see today: A trailer for a Chinese remake of the '90s horror B-movie classic "Anaconda." Yes, really. And, to be perfectly honest, you're probably not prepared for just how bonkers this thing looks. Of course the original movie is pretty bonkers on its own, but this is taking things to another level. Before we discuss this further, it's probably best you watch this insanity for yourself. Check it out above.
So yeah ... much to discuss, much to process. First and foremost, the broad beats of the plot appear to be in line with the original film, with some extra stuff thrown in there. Most notably, there appears to be a lot more giant snake action. The original "Anaconda" had an animatronic snake that was very tough to work with, which limited director Luis Llosa a bit. Here? It's just lots of pretty decent CGI craziness.

In one passage of the book, Little discusses the series of mistakes and oversights that led to Brandon Lee’s tragic shooting death on the set of The Crow. With a remake of The Crow set to reach theatres in June and Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed having just been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the case of the shooting death on the set of that film,...

It’s blockbuster season and Amazon Prime is celebrating by bringing a major action film to its stream.
That’s right, Amazon Prime’s list of new releases for July 2021 is highlighted by none other than The Tomorrow War on July 2. The year is 2051 and mankind is locked in a vicious war against an alien species. Our only hope is to go back in time and find…Chris Pratt. Ok, perhaps that’s a little reductive of the film’s plot. Future humanity also comes back to bring Sam Richardson to the future.
In terms of originals, there isn’t much else to speak of on Amazon Prime this month. The only other major release is The Pursuit of Love on July 30. This BBC series is directed by Emily Mortimer and takes place during the WWII era and follows two cousins as they navigate their lives. Lily James and Andrew Scott star.

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.
The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!
Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

One of the most memorable and star-studded creature features of the ’90s, Anaconda is being reimagined at Columbia Pictures.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Evan Daugherty (writer of Killing Season and co-writer of 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman) has been hired to write a screenplay for an "an all-new and all-modern take" on Anaconda.
While plot details have yet to be unveiled, THR reveals that the studio is "hoping to take a Meg-style approach" to the reimagining. According to Box Office Mojo, the 2018 colossal shark movie brought in more than $530 million worldwide on an estimated $130 million production budget. A producer and director have not been announced for the new Anaconda film at this time.
Released in 1997, Anaconda followed a film crew and a guide with a hidden agenda deep into the Amazon jungle, where they found themselves prey to a massive snake of prehistoric proportions.

Columbia Pictures has ordered a reboot of 1997's Anaconda with Snow White and the Huntman's Evan Daugherty attached to write.
Never doubt the public's appetite for enormous, man-eating snakes...or at least movie studios' perception of the public's appetite for man-eating snakes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures has ordered a reboot of 1997's monster horror hit Anaconda. Evan Daugherty, writer of Tomb Raider and Snow White and the Hunstman, is attached to write the film. No director, producer, or release date has been assigned yet.
Anaconda was critically panned when it was first released in 1997 but soon became a cult classic. The original actually featured a pretty impressive cast including Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Erik Stoltz, Danny Trejo, and Owen Wilson. The film followed a documentary crew in South America attempting to shoot a story about a long-lost indigenous tribe along the Amazon.

You read that right! After years of lying dormant, the serpent-fueled horror series is coming back to the big screen. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Columbia Pictures is looking to revive the Anaconda franchise, which, if we’re being completely honest, hasn’t exactly stood the test of time. The ’90s were filled with plenty of forgettable horror movies, and the original 1997 film is certainly no exception.
Unfortunately, details are rather scarce at the moment, but it looks like Columbia Pictures is bringing Evan Daugherty on board to pen the script. While he’s new to the horror scene, Daugherty has made a name for himself already, having been credited as a screenwriter on Snow White and the Huntsman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Divergent, just to name a few. In addition, Bloody Disgusting reports that the film is being developed as a “reimagining” of the original, as Columbia is...

The killer snake will strike again!
A new reboot of the 1997 horror film Anaconda is being developed by Sony’s Columbia Pictures, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
While not much is known about the new film as of yet, writer Evan Daugherty, who worked on Snow White and the Huntsman as well as the 2018 reboot of Tomb Raider, will write the script, the outlet reports.
Sources told THR that the reboot will be a reimagining of the cult classic, which the studio hopes will be similar to the 2018 campy shark film The Meg, which raked in over $530 million at the box office.

Sony Pictures is in early development of a reboot of the “Anaconda” franchise, hiring “Divergent” writer Evan Daugherty to write the project.
The studio has not set up the project with a producer, director or actors.
Sony released the original “Anaconda” in 1997 as a horror thriller starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz and Owen Wilson. Directed by Luis Llosa, the plot centered on Lopez’ character heading a documentary film crew looking for a long-lost tribe along the Amazon River, only to see the expedition taken over by a nefarious snake hunter, played by Voight, leading to several horrific encounters with a massive green serpent.
“Anaconda” was a success with a worldwide gross of $135 million on a $45 million budget. That led to a 2004 sequel “Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid,” set in Borneo, as the protagonists sought a life-extending flower on a remote island inhabited by deadly snakes.

The Meg's success has got some people wondering if there's gas in the oversized snake tank.
Resident Evil franchise masterminds Constantin Film and Jb Pictures have got a Titanoboa movie in development. The movie is looking to The Meg for inspiration as it plans to feature the giant extinct snake coming back from the dead somehow to wreak havoc, likely on some wholly unprepared humans.

Last year, Todd Rohal’s “Uncle Kent 2” premiered at SXSW to positive reviews, with IndieWire’s own Eric Kohn calling it “the craziest movie sequel ever.” A follow-up to Joe Swanberg’s 2011 film “Uncle Kent,” a portrait of indie actor and animator Kent Osborne, “Uncle Kent 2” follows Osborne’s quest to come up with a sequel to “Uncle Kent” by traveling to a comic book convention and confronting the end of the world.

We have a list of the new Hulu movies and shows arriving in October 2018.
Happy Huluween!
Hulu is blessed to have a name that sounds roughly enough like "Hallow." That means it's basically honor-bound to bring the heat for Halloween. Thankfully for the October 2018 new releases, Hulu is bringing us the spookies that we need. The Blair Witch Project, The Others, and Child's Play all arrive this month. And if you're looking for some more wholesome creepies, The Nightmare Before Christmas should do. And if that weren't enough, Hulu is debuting its own horror show - anthology series Into the Dark.
For those shamefully unable to get into the Halloween spirit, Hulu is bringing in some other fun film options. Galaxy Quest, Music and Lyrics, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective should help out with that.
Then of course, are the usual and typically deep TV offerings.
We have a list of the new Hulu movies and shows arriving in October 2018.
Happy Huluween!
Hulu is blessed to have a name that sounds roughly enough like "Hallow." That means it's basically honor-bound to bring the heat for Halloween. Roger Corman and folks at The Asylum have a lot to answer for… That’s all I’m saying.

Earlier today, we learned that Peyton List (The Tomorrow People; Mad Men) had been cast as Leonard Snart's little sister Lisa a.k.a. the Golden Glider. Additionally, in a little bit of extra casting news, it's being reported that Nicholas Gonzalez (Sleepy Hollow; Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid) has been cast in a guest spot as Dante, the handsome and charming older brother of Carlos Valdes' Cisco. In addition to being the family favorite, he's also "a gifted pianist, who never reached his potential and secretly resents Cisco’s success." However, "When the brothers are thrust into extreme circumstances, Dante must rely on Cisco if they’re going to survive." It looks like the brothers may be coming face-to-face with the Golden Glider as Gonzalez, along with List, will also make his first appearance of the season in Episode 16: "Rogue Time." Gonzalez himself confirmed his casting in a tweet,...

If as a kid you loved walking the aisles of your local video store and picking out vaguely trashy, straight-to-video titles and watching (and most likely making fun of) them with some like-minded friends, then have we got a movie for you. It's called Madso's War, was written by Battle: Los Angeles scribe Christopher Bertolini and last week Fox dropped it on a DVD store shelf near you. And this week we've got a clip for you-- and it's amazing in a probably unintended, this-should-be-on-vhs-in-the-'90s kind of way. Plus, where else can you expect to find the hottie lead of the straight-to-video Tekken movie (Kelly Overton) seduced by the star of Anacondas: The Hunt For the Blood Orchid (Matthew Marsden)? Don't worry, it's a Safe For...

For some reason Anchor Bay Films acquired the the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand distribution rights to the awful looking new video game based film Tekkan.
Tekken was written by Alan McElroy and directed by Dwight Little. Anchor Bay plans on giving this film a wide release in the United States in 2011.
I'm shocked this movie got picked up! I know it's based on a popular video game, but the film looks so bad. When I see a movie like this get picked up, it just proves anything can get a distribution deal.
The film is set in a world run by all-powerful corporations, of which the mightiest is the Tekken Corporation, headed by Heiachi Mishima. These corporations regularly send their best fighters to challenge each other in the ring. After running contraband outside the fortified walls of Tekken City, Jin Kazama returns home in time to witness Tekken...

With Resident Evil: Afterlife showing studios that there is still a profit to be made in video game adaptations, Anchor Bay has acquired the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand distribution rights to the Tekken movie from Crystal Sky Pictures.

You might think that since he’s already shooting near-future robo-boxing pic Real Steel that Shawn Levy would have collected all the cast members he needs by now. Apparently not: Speed Racer’s Karl Yune has just signed on.Yune, who was also seen in the likes of Memoirs of a Geisha and (though he probably wants to forget it, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid), is on board to play Tak Mashido, a famed robot boxer designer. The film, of course, finds Hugh Jackman as a former fist-fighter who was forced into retirement when human boxing faded into bankruptcy, replaced by a much more violent form of robot brawling. Now, he’s trying to repair his reputation and the relationship with his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) by turning a seemingly junky robot into a champion.Levy is cranking his cameras in Detroit right now, with the film arriving...

Wait, when did this get a release date? ComicBookMovie.com (via SlashFilm) has uncovered a new official poster for the Dwight Little directed Tekken movie, starring Jon Foo as Jin Kazama, based on the popular video game. We actually featured the trailer back in January, so we knew this was going to arrive sometime this year, but the poster clearly states: "The Battle Begins Aug 5". So I am assuming this is going to hit theaters? Hopefully not straight-to-dvd, right? I actually think this is just an international poster, which means we still don't know when it's coming out in the Us. But check out the poster anyway, it's pretty cool. Tekken was directed by Dwight H. Little of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Marked for Death, and Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. Terrance Brockley has one of the largest DVD and Blu-ray library’s in east Suffolk County in Massachusetts, which includes rare titles such a Moonstruck, The Transporter and Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. If you ask the master electrician how he amassed a collection of over 320 movies, Brockley won’t hesitate to tell you.
“A lot of them are from eBay or Scooner’s down the street,” says Brockley. “None of them are from Wal-Mart, so don’t even ask me, alright?”
Brockley has been collecting movies since the inception of the DVD format in the early ’90s. Before that time, Brockley was not buying VHS tapes from Wal-Mart nor was he ever there to “pick up [expletive] bird food.”
“Yeah, before DVDs, I had a ton of VHS tapes. Good stuff too, like Doc Hollywood and the good Gremlins movie,” says the 67-year-old. “The one with that critter...

Although we showed you an early trailer for this Tekken movie back in January, these new photos are still pretty damn cool to look at. They've been floating around the internet all day today at a lot of places, but I originally saw them at Twitch, although I should point out that io9 has a gallery with additional side-by-side comparisons between the movie and the video game. Here's the thing with this Tekken movie - these photos make it look awesome, or a least like an authentic video game movie. But why do I still feel like it's going to be terrible? I don't know. We're still not sure when the heck this is hitting theaters but take a look anyway! Tekken is directed by Dwight H. Did you have any idea that there was a Tekken film in production, based on the series of fighting video games? Neither did I! But I’m really not the target audience for this film: after a while, Tekken and Virtua Fighter and all of their brethren just looked the same to me.
And if Tekken isn’t a name brand that’s going to draw an audience, then it’s very doubtful that this trailer is going to win over the populous. This film looks worse than Street Fighter.
Starring Luke Goss, scripted by Alan McElroy (Wrong Turn 2 and 3) and directed by Dwight H. Little (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid), Tekken will be released sometime this year. Check out the trailer below, and ignore the annoying little pop-ups, please!

The first official trailer for Dwight H. Little's (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid) live-action Tekken movie is now online. Jin Kazama (played by Jon Foo), a simple street fighter, braves the King of Iron First Tournament on his quest for revenge against the man (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) he blames for his mother's death.

We've been trying to keep up to date on the live-action Tekken movie that's apparently shot and done, but there is a surprising lack of information on it out there. However, an early trailer for the movie has finally appeared on Teaser-Trailer.com (via SlashFilm) and it looks pretty awful. They took the idea of adapting a fighting game literally and set it in the "King of Iron Fist" tournament arena, just like in the game, and even added character choosing like this was happening right in the arcade. But besides all that, there is actually some awesome fighting in this, so maybe it could be good? Although I'm not sure when or if it'll hit theaters. Watch the first trailer the live-action Tekken movie: Tekken is directed by Dwight H. A new poster, mostly in Japanese, for Dwight H. Little's (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid) Tekken adaptation has appeared on the movie's official site. Based on the popular Namco video game franchise of the same name, Tekken was written for the screen by Alan McElroy (The Marine) and features fight choreography by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2).
In the movie's post-apocalyptic, near-future world, corporations are in control of the few remaining population centers. One of the most powerful corporations, Tekken, sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament as a way of appeasing and controlling the populace. Jin Kazama (played by Jon Foo), a noble street fighter, enters the Iron Fist Tournament so that he can get close to the chairman of the Tekken corporation, Heihachi Mishima (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), who he blames for the death of his mother.

Tekken, as in the video game? Yep, I'm talking about the platform fighting game Tekken. You may or may not know, but Namco has been working on a Tekken movie for a while (we ran some photos in February). In fact, the whole thing is shot and in the can, just waiting to be released. Luke Goss stars as Steve Fox, Jon Foo stars as Jin Kazama, and it's directed by Dwight H. Little (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid). It's either a cult classic in the making or a huge piece of crap just like the Dragonball and Street Fighter movies from this year. Twitch just found the first official Japanese poster on the official website. Check it! Before someone says something about Warner Bros releasing this in Japan, they're only distributing there. In fact, I don't think this even has a Us distributor yet, but I'm not sure.

The first decade of the new millennium has come to an end, and that means it is now time for film sites all over the web to begin posting their various retrospectives and lists recalling the decade that was. I generally as a rule dislike such lists because they are always so subjective. Then I said screw it and took it upon myself to do one of my own naming the ten worst horror movies of the past decade. Besides, people love bitching on the Internet about lists like this, and who am I to deny readers yet another excuse to get into pointless flame wars over personal opinions.
Of course, this list is just my personal opinion which is not legally binding ... unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray that it will.
I set two rules when putting this list together: Only horror movies that received fairly wide theatrical...

Resident Evil: Afterlife (which we last mentioned here) has a start date.
Production Weekly reports via Twitter that the fourth chapter in the cinematic Resident Evil franchise will begin principal photography on September 28th at CineSpace Studios in Toronto.
The 8-week shoot will see star Milla Jovovich (Alice) reunited with writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson (Death Race) who previously helmed the first film in addition to handling writing duties on the series.
IMDb has "rumored" cast set to include Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, My Blood Valentine 3-D) as Leon S. Kennedy, Jason O'Mara (Life On Mars) reprising his role as Albert Wesker, soap actor Austin Peck (Days Of Our Lives, As The World Turns) as Kevin Ryman, with Johnny Messner (Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid) as Chris Redfield. Fango got the tip that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the psychological thriller The Poker Club on DVD. It’s the first produced film based on a novel by genre author Ed Gorman.
Directed by Nowhere Man’s Tim McCann and scripted by actor Johnathon Schaech and Cemetery Dance founder/editor Richard Chizmar (who also penned Masters Of Horror’s The Washingtonians, Fear Itself’S Eater and the upcoming Stephen King film From A Buick 8), the movie stars Schaech, Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid’s Johnny Messner, Loren Dean and Michael Risley as four friends who are interrupted by a burglar one night during their weekly card game. They accidentally kill the intruder, and their attempts to cover up the crime only make things worse for them. The cast also includes Judy Reyes, Lori Heuring and Jana Kramer (the latter two of whom also appeared opposite...

Constantin preps 'Fragile X'
BERLIN -- Major German independent Constantin Film (Downfall, Resident Evil) has signed on to develop and produce the sci-fi thriller Fragile X, with Dwight Little (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, Murder At 1600) to direct. The film is based on an original story by Robocop scribe Michael Miner and follows an orphan who discovers he is actually the long-lost member of a team of genetically-designed soldiers of fortune. Robert Kulzer, executive producer for Constantin on Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse, will head up the project. Constantin, whose Downfall was nominated for best foreign film for this year's Oscars, is currently in pre-production on the video-game adaptations of DOA and Driver, both of which will be produced through the German company's U.K. subsidiary Impact Pictures. Michael Miner is represented by David Saunders at APA. Little is represented by Rene Tabb and Nick Reed at ICM.
