Supernatural was one of the fantasy drama TV series that reigned over the small screen for years. The show focused on the Winchester Brothers, Sam and Dean portrayed by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles respectively.
The demon hunting duo became immensely popular with the audience, and fans of the series were charmed by their bromance. It seemed like the actors were best of friends even off the screen, but one incident brought a new angle to the story. In 2021, Padalecki posted a tweet calling out his co-star for not being approached for his Supernatural prequel, leading fans to believe the pair were not in good terms.

There are many ways to talk about Jared Padalecki's career. You could gauge his work by the length of his iconically-floppy hairdo, which sometimes got too long, worked pretty well for him in the aughts, and has somehow circled back around to being in style again. You could talk about him as the King of The CW, a network that has leaned on him as a star for more than two decades, going all the way back to when it was called "The WB." You could note that he hasn't done much on film, probably as a result of his never-ending television schedule, but you could also note that in the 2000s, he ruled a number of fun horror movies anyway.
On the other hand, you could talk about Jared Padalecki the way he does: as a man just trying to provide for his family. "I've been absent a lot.

In the "Star Trek" episode "The Galileo Seven", Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Lieutenant Commander Scott (James Doohan), and three specialists are assigned to take Enterprise's shuttlecraft, the Galileo, on a special survey to map the Murasaki-312 quasar. A mysterious spatial phenomenon pulls the shuttle off course, however, and it crash lands on a nearby world inhabited by vicious 10-foot-tall cavemen.
The seven people on board the Galileo have to repair their ship and find a way to contact the Enterprise through the signal-scrambling mists of the quasar. Their job is made more difficult by the attacking cavemen, who want to murder them with spears. The collected and logical Spock attempts to scare off the brutes, while his more emotional, human counterparts encourage deadly force. When two of the Galileo Seven are killed, Spock discourages a memorial service. The episode is ultimately about how Spock's logic isn't always...

Adapted from Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Netflix’s limited series “All the Light We Cannot See” sets two unlikely kindred spirits on a collision course as World War II begins in France when Germany occupied the country. Shawn Levy directed all four episodes of Steven Knight’s scripts.
Marie-Laure LeBlanc (Aria Mia Loberti) and Werner Pfennig (Louis Hoffman) share curiosity and empathy, which translates across their opposing countries and positions in the war. Werner’s skill for fixing and translating radios leads him to a high position in the Nazi effort to decode secret broadcasts that their targets might send. Marie-Laure herself becomes a broadcaster after her father moves her to her uncle’s home in a small, seaside French town.

Everyone's favorite teenage witch is getting a modern update, thanks to Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Set to premiere on Oct. 26, the highly anticipated series will present a darker version of the classic character Sabrina Spellman. The series comes from the minds behind Riverdale, and it stars Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina. As always, Sabrina's teenage witch years will be guided by her aunts, Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda. Comedic British actress Lucy Davis is set to play the more motherly of the two sisters, Aunt Hilda, while the stern Aunt Zelda will be played by Australian actress Miranda Otto.
Otto is no stranger to the fantasy and horror genres. She's best known for her role in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films, in which she played the fierce shieldmaiden Éowyn. Her iconic character was one of the movie's few female heroes, and a kickass one at that.

Netflix's new offering Godless looks to put an intriguing twist on the conventional concept of the Western.
With Steven Soderbergh, indie darling and esteemed big screen blockbuster director of the Ocean’s Eleven film franchise, attached as an executive producer to the 7-episode limited series created by Scott Frank, look for some twists and turns not traditionally found in the arid, dusty, tumbleweed-strewn genre.

Forgotten amid Robert Aldrich’s more critic-friendly movies is this superb suspense picture, an against-all-odds thriller that pits an old-school pilot against a push-button young engineer with his own kind of male arrogance. Can a dozen oil workers and random passengers ‘invent’ their way out of an almost certain death trap? It’s a late-career triumph for James Stewart, at the head of a sterling ensemble cast. I review a UK disc in the hope of encouraging a new restoration.

All week long our writers will debate: Which was the greatest film year of the past half century. Click here for a complete list of our essays. How to decide in the grand scheme of things which film year stands above all others? History gives us no clear methodology to unravel this thorny but extremely important question. Is it the year with the highest average score of movies? So a year that averages out to a B + might be the winner over a field strewn with B’s, despite a few A +’s. Or do a few masterpieces lift up a year so far that whatever else happened beyond those three or four films is of no consequence? Both measures are worthy, and the winner by either of those would certainly be a year not to be sneezed at. But I contend the only true measure of a year’s...

Before sitting down to watch the new Liam Neeson movie, audiences have been prepped to see the weary-faced action star kicking ass with class, thanks to entertaining flicks like “Taken,” “Non-Stop,” and “The Grey.” But, for every “Taken” there’s a “Taken 2,” and if one year the grizzly Irishman can come out with something as forceful as “The Grey,” the following year “Battleship” can sink people’s opinions once more. It’s just not simple to put a finger on the prospects of a new Neeson film, particularly one directed by screenwriter-turned-director Scott Frank. The only previous feature Frank has directed was the overlooked and underrated “The Lookout,” and he's also got “Get Shorty” and “Out Of Sight” under his writing belt, as well as the less memorable “Flight Of The Phoenix.” With this combined pedigree from the actor and writer-director, the two dominant forces behind “A Walk Among The Tombstones,...

This isn’t the story of a ship, but it starts with one. A month after the real-life Royal Navy resupplied Malta during Operation Pedestal, In Which We Serve hit theaters in the UK. It’s a WWII story made and released during WWII, featuring the sinking of the Hms Torrin as a symbol for the temporary loss that makes us all fight harder for the larger victory. A seafaring Alamo whose stalwart captain goes on to fire even larger guns from an even stouter ship at the destined-to-fail Nazis. This was Richard Attenborough‘s film debut as an actor. He played a yellow-gutted shell loader who abandons his post, leaving the men up top without one of their ammo sources. It’s a role hidden within a sea of other characters, but Attenborough — whose character doesn’t even have a name — gets a spotlit moment to twist his face in terror until ultimately breaking. The...

Through films like Flightplan, Soul Plane, and White House Down, it has taken over a decade for Hollywood to arrive at Non-Stop.
Showing the vitality of Liam Neeson carrying a gun and a broken heart, Non-Stop recently gave the new action hero one of his biggest box office weekends so far. Involving an air marshal using a particular set of skills to hunt and kill someone threatening his plane (to paraphrase Taken), the film may seem like a generic Neeson actioner. But while his character might be a composite of previous roles, the anxiety he tackles within this film is fresh. Considering its box office success (and my mother’s intense experience in watching the movie), Non-Stop works efficiently as a thriller in 2014 because it provides viewers with imagery of in-flight chaos not seen since before 9/11. It is also the indication of a natural progression for how Hollywood films are...

There are six very funny men nomianated for lead actor in a comedy at the Emmy Awards this year—two of whom are playing themselves. Each nominee gets to submit one episode from the season for Emmy judges to help determine who to vote for. We look at what episode each actor submitted, and how it might affect their odds. Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") - "A Goon's Deed in a Weary World"Jack begins the process of choosing his successor. Baldwin is always terrific, but the final season of “30 Rock” was not his best, largely because he was saddled with re-entering the dating world after his split from his wife Avery—a choice I still don’t understand. Baldwin was smart to submit an episode that kept him in the workplace and his scene partner Kenneth the Page (Jack MacBrayer), who he eventually hires as his replacement after a candidate search...

As G.O.B.'s favorite Europe lyrics go, it's the final countdown! At last we have reached our last in-depth recap of Arrested Development's comeback season, which appeared on Netflix a few months ago. We certainly took our sweet time sifting through the 15 episodes of the comedy's fourth season, and perhaps you did too, but whether you're still working on it or watching the season for the tenth time, here is what we've already (proudly) accomplished: Episodes 1-2: "Flight of the Phoenix" & "Borderline Personalities" Episodes 3-4: "Indian Takers" & "The B. Team" Episodes 5-6: "A New Start" & "Double Crossers" Episodes 7-8: "Colony Collapse" & "Red Hairing" Episodes 9-10: "Smashed" & "Queen B." Episodes 11-12: "A New Attitude" & "Señoritis" Episodes 13-14: "It Gets Better" & "Off The Hook" And without further adieu (drumroll please?), here's the rundown of the fourth season finale. Is it also possibly...

Fox’s big screen adaptation of the popular Assassin’s Creed gaming franchise has underwent some scripting doctoring, it seems, after the studio confirmed that Oscar nominated screenwriter Scott Frank will rewrite the film’s screenplay. In an interview with Creative Screenwriting Magazine, the scribe spoke of his desire to add his own personal touch to the project.
“I’m rewriting Assassin’s Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I’ve never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges. Especially in the world of re-writes, I love trying to do something completely different if I can.”
Having been Oscar nominated for his work on Out of Sight – itself an adaptation – Frank’s résumé also includes writing credits on a variety of Hollywood productions such as Minority Report, Flight of the Phoenix and, more recently, this summer’s The Wolverine.

Perhaps you binge-watched every single episode of Arrested Development's new season the first weekend. Perhaps you've taken your time, ignored the spoilers, and listened to creator Mitch Hurwitz's slow-and-steady advice. At Vulture, we chose to do it both ways: We posted immediate recaps right after opening weekend, then took a deep breath and started all over again more slowly, taking time to scour every episode to find the show's many Easter eggs, callbacks, and hints to future episodes. Some were obvious, some more buried. Let's begin with the first two episodes. How many of them did you catch?Episode 1: "Flight of the Phoenix" With a green beauty mask and one eye almost fully blinked, Kristen Wiig's young Lucille ws not only an impression of Jessica Walter, but also fit with her evil rhyme because she looked like the Grinch. Please forgive me for this slight humblebrag, but I promise, it’s relevant. A few weeks before Season 4 of Arrested Development debuted on Netflix, I was lucky enough to attend the London premiere for HeyUGuys and interview some of the cast on the orange carpet. Somehow I also managed to wing my way into the premiere, and we were shown episode one and four of the new season. Now this was back in those heady days when Mitch Hurwitz was still busy editing the rest of the season, and when we were still under the impression that we’d be able to watch these new episodes in whatever order we so pleased. So on went episode one, Michael’s first episode, Flight of the Phoenix, which we’ve already established was a pretty jarring albeit promising reintroduction to Ad. Then came Michael’s second episode and the subject of today’s review,...

Of all Arrested Development’s main characters, George Sr. is probably the one you’d imagine would be least likely to be able to carry his own individual episode. It’s not that he’s not a great character, and Jeffrey Tambor is a supremely talented comedic actor who’s great as the Bluth family patriarch. It’s just that he always seemed to work best when existing as part of a scene, rather than having to do the heavy lifting. The likes of Buster, Tobias, Gob or even Lucille could come in and steal a scene, but George Sr. was a character who always worked best just being another funny part of it. Maybe it’s something to do with his eccentricities not being quite as pronounced as those other characters, while at the same time he’s not quite as grounded as a Michael, George Michael or Maeby.

On Sunday, after a wait of seven years, three months and 16 days no less, Arrested Development finally returned with a fourth season of 15 episodes. Debuting on Netflix in one batch, there was approximately 8 hours and 20 minutes of new footage for fans to consume, and many (myself included, I must admit) blasted through it all in just one day. Opinions were formed, knees were jerked and early assessments seemed to be fairly wide-ranging. The initial plan was for HeyUGuys to review the entirety of Season 4 in one fell swoop, but given how much the episodes seem to differ both in tone and quality throughout the season, we thought we’d instead go for a spoiler-filled episode-by-episode approach. So let’s jump into it, shall we, with the Michael-centric episode, Flight of the Phoenix.
And with that immediately we’ve touched on one of the main points of contention regarding these new episodes – their character-centric approach.

The Bluth family are back. Michael, George Michael, George Snr, Lucille, Gob, Buster, Maeby, Lindsay and Tobias were all back together for a reunion that many Arrested Development fans never believed would really happen.
After a cancellation from Fox and endless movie rumours amounting to diddly squat, it seemed fanciful even for the show's obsessives to ever imagine there would a full season of Development again. However, thanks to Netflix, the impossible became possible and a full 15-episode season was released all at once on Sunday (May 26) morning.
Fans and critics were quickly gorging on the expanse of Bluth fun, catching up with their favourite characters and trying to spot the in-jokes, nudges and winks that are part and parcel of every Arrested episode's puzzle.
However, the reunion hasn't been met with the love and adulation that many expected with a large chunk of critics clearly underwhelmed by the comeback.

It's finally happening, "Arrested Development" fans. After seven years (and what's felt like a lifetime), Season 4 of the fan favorite comedy has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more excited. That's why we here at Zap2it couldn't wait a minute longer than necessary to watch the show's 15 new episodes.
Sure, series creator Mitch Hurwitz suggested against marathoning the new season, but what does he know? Wait, so you didn't think the Vulture staff would watch the new, season-four Arrested Development trailer 100-plus times? Then you don't know us very well. And along with the rest of the Entire Internet, we noticed some references to the show's past and perhaps some guesses toward its Netflix'd future. Just think: If we're this into finding Easter eggs in the show's trailer, imagine what we have planned for the show's premiere. In one of the first shots of this season-four trailer, presumably belonging to the episode titled "Flight of the Phoenix," Michael exits the airport to reveal he's finally in Phoenix. If you recall, he's been trying to get there for quite some time now. He ignores the cabbie's warnings and sears his hand grabbing the taxi's handle. Shades of the Cornballer infomercial! "Time to pull out the basket ... " — hand-burning is a Bluth tradition. George Michael appears...

Box office comparisons between the current and the previous Die Hard movies [See previous post: "Is the latest Willis / Die Hard movie a domestic box-office hit or a flop?"] However, when compared to the previous four movies in the franchise, the latest entry is nothing but a box-office disappointment -- though, I should add, it's the first movie in the franchise not to open in late spring/summer. (Pictured above: Willis as the invincible hero John McClane in A Good Day to Die Hard.) Directed by John McTiernan (who's currently facing a potential one-year prison sentence for lying to the FBI during the Anthony Pellicano wiretapping investigation several years ago), the original Die Hard movie released in 1988 scored $7.5 million (approximately $14 million today) at 1,276 theaters on its first weekend in wide release, July 22-24. The movie eventually cumed with $83 million (approximately $162.5 million today) in the United States and Canada. Director Renny Harlin's Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990) grossed $21.74m (approx. $41m today) at 2,507 venues on its opening...

What surprises me most about the latest trailer for "A Good Day To Die Hard" is that it actually looks like director John Moore has finally grown a sense of visual style. Moore has been an in-house favorite for Fox for a while, but I don't get it. "Behind Enemy Lines," "Flight of the Phoenix," "The Omen," and especially "Max Payne" are all borderline unwatchable, and he seems positively ham-handed when it comes to performance and text. It's not enough to occasionally nail a pretty picture, and I'd argue that even in that department, he's seemed deficient so far. This new...

1988′s Die Hard has stood the test of time to become a modern action classic, with oft-quoted lines and memorable characters by both Alan Rickman and Bruce Willis, the latter of whom effectively launched his movie career with the film. Willis has not been hesitant to get back into the shoes of Officer John McClane, reprising the role for three more sequels. Recently, plans were announced for a fifth movie in the Die Hard franchise, titled A Good Day to Die Hard, with Hitman and The A-Team scribe Skip Woods taking on writing duties, and Max Payne and Flight of the Phoenix director John Moore helming this instalment. Joining Willis in the cast is Jai Courtney, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amaury Nolasco, Cole Hauser, and Sebastian Koch. The first trailer for the movie has now been released, and can be seen below.
