Acclaimed actress Hilary Swank will join the supernatural drama series “Yellowjackets” for its upcoming third season. Swank is known for her roles in movies like “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Million Dollar Baby,” winning Oscars for both. The Showtime series tells the story of a girls’ high school soccer team that crashes in the woods. It flashes between their time surviving in the wild and present day.
Swank will join the talented cast that already includes Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Ella Purnell, and Sophie Thatcher. While details on Swank’s character are still secret, her addition has fans very curious. Many wonder if she will play a role in rescuing the team after the crash or help them years later. Television critic Sarah Jensen said Swank’s acting skills open many possibilities. “Whether in an authority position investigating their ordeal or supporting their recovery, her involvement promises impactful scenes and key plot shifts,...

Clint Eastwood is back.
The prolific filmmaker, now 94, will debut his new film “Juror No. 2” in November. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the project, which will have its world premiere at this year’s AFI Festival in Los Angeles.
The pulpy legal thriller stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, Leslie Bibb, Francesca Eastwood, and Kiefer Sutherland.
Here’s the official synopsis from Warner Bros.
“Juror No. 2 follows family man Justin Kemp (Hoult) who, while serving as a juror in a high-profile murder trial, finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma…one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict—or free—the accused killer.
As teased in the trailer, the “moral dilemma” for Kemp is that he may have inadvertently killed the victim during a hit-and-run accident.

First, we threw a 50th anniversary bash for movies released in 1974. Then, a 40th fete for movies from 1984 and a 30th for 1994 films. And now, as this year gets closer to its own last call, we’re embarking on a 20th anniversary tour back to the 2000s.
That’s right, it’s time for the fourth edition of Netflix’s 2024 Milestone Movies: The Anniversary Collection, this time celebrating films that were released in 2004.
Milestone Movies first launched in January to celebrate films marking major anniversaries this year — award winners, guilty pleasures, and cult classics among them. The films now streaming in the US include Before Sunset, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Million Dollar Baby, The Notebook, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Although Nicole Kidman recently accepted the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award in recognition of her four-decade acting career, there is no indication that her life’s work is anywhere near finished. Indeed, according to Gold Derby’s racetrack odds, the 56-year-old is well on her way to picking up her sixth Oscar nomination for her lead performance in the critically acclaimed “Babygirl,” which would make her the 13th AFI honoree to subsequently earn film academy recognition in a competitive category.
The fact that Kidman’s life achievement award was presented by her pal and costar, Meryl Streep, is quite fitting given that she’s the only woman to go from being an AFI recipient to an Oscar contender. Since receiving the AFI honor in 2004, she has racked up a whopping eight bids, including a successful one for “The Iron Lady” (2012). A previous champ for “Kramer vs. Kramer” (1980) and...

Sandra Bullock has had quite an impressive career that has spanned multiple decades. During this time, she has proven her worth in the industry, having starred in several iconic films and explored various genres to reach the heights of success she has today.

However, when one has been a part of the film industry for as long as she has, it is only inevitable that one will experience some prejudice or unfairness. For Bullock, it came in the form of one project that she tried desperately to launch for quite some time, only for it to become successful without her involvement.

Production is currently taking place in Vancouver, Canada, for the highly anticipated Yellowjackets season 3, and we can't wait to see the horror series return next year! We've just learned some good news about the upcoming season and it involves a new cast addition.
Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank has reportedly joined the cast of Yellowjackets for its third season. This news comes only a month after learning that Joel McHale (Animal Control) joined the cast. Unfortunately, like McHale's casting, it's unknown who Swank will be playing in the series. All that was revealed about her casting is that she'll be taking on a recurring guest star role. However, Deadline reports that there's a possibility she could be upped to series regular if there is to be a fourth season.
I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of Swank and would love to see more of her in Yellowjackets.

Filming for Season 3 started in May of this year and is scheduled for a 2025 premiere.
The thriller originally premiered on Showtime in 2021. Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, it alternates between two timelines, one that follows a group of teenagers in 1996 who were involved in a plane crash and a second one that chronicles the consequences of those events in their adult lives in 2021. The critically-acclaimed series has received 10 Primetime Emmy Award nominations so far as well as a Peabody nomination. Because of corporate restructuring at Paramount Global, this new season will premiere on Paramount+ With Showtime.
The two-time Academy Award winning actor is best known for her roles in “Million Dollar Baby” and “P.S. I Love You.

Exclusive: Paramount+ With Showtime’s Yellowjackets has added Hilary Swank to its Season 3 cast. The two-time Oscar winner will be a recurring guest star on the upcoming season, which is currently filming in Vancouver. I hear there is an option for her to become a series regular should the hit series get a fourth season.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
Details about Swank’s character, which will be introduced later in the season,...

Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Zoe Saldaña Is Back In Action In Explosive Trailer For Lioness Season 2
After a wildly successful first season, Paramount+ has debuted the official trailer for Lioness season two, offering an explosive first look a what's to come for Joe (Zoe Saldaña) this season as the war inches closer and closer to home.

With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program."

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a popular manga and anime series that has captured many fans’ wildest imaginations, thanks to its uncanny actions, exaggerated drama, and weird fantasy elements. But you would be quite surprised to know where the author, Hirohiko Araki, actually got all this idea from.
The answer lies in his childhood fascination with Western movies, especially those starring the iconic Clint Eastwood.

At the time, Araki was still a student at elementary school, when he watched the 1966 classic For a Few Dollars More along with his father in theatres.
Although he was not old enough at that time to comprehend the plot, he felt strong emotions towards Eastwood as he played the lone wolf character. This formative experience shaped Araki’s ideal hero archetype and influenced the making of his most famous work, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

As someone who has never punched somebody in this lifetime, I do love to watch movies about boxing. Yes, it’s a pretty nonsensical sport, but when every punch, jab, and hook is injected with complex emotions and whatnot, it does make for an enjoyable viewing experience. I grew up watching the Rocky movies, and the sequel franchise, Creed, is pretty damn good. Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull is a masterpiece, and there’s no doubt about that. Cinderella Man, The Fighter, and Southpaw are some other amazing examples. Veering away from the traditional “hero’s journey” format, there’s The Harder They Fall, The Hurricane, Million Dollar Baby, and, dare I say, Real Steel. Indian movies have fared quite well in this subgenre with Mukkabaaz, Sarpatta Parambarai, and Irudhi Suttru by talking about politics in sports, casteism, and sexism. Boxer, the Polish Netflix film, aims to show yet another...

Clint Eastwood may not hold the youthful charm he once did in the 1950s or be the leading star of Spaghetti Westerns, but the Eastwood name can never be replaced as long as Hollywood stands. The movie star and cowboy actor of the century transitioned perfectly from the old talkies to the 21st-century Oscar-winner Million Dollar Baby without breaking a sweat.

Morgan Freeman is surely one of the most recognizable actors working today — and work he does. While the man has an Oscar to his name and several truly memorable roles in his filmography, that filmography is ... extensive. Freeman churns out movies at about the same rate as, shall we say, Samuel L. Jackson or John Travolta, often lending his significant talent to projects other stars of his caliber wouldn't even consider.
That's not to knock the now 87-year-old, either. Often Freeman elevates these lesser titles simply by being a part of them. But there are a few movies that even the great Morgan Freeman can't save. Yes, for every "Million Dollar Baby" or "Shawshank Redemption" there's a truly bewildering stinker in the Freeman oeuvre that simply couldn't be rescued by the man's gravitas. 2014's "Transcendence," for instance, currently sports a shameful 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the "Has Fallen" trilogy can't...

The genius of Clint Eastwood was not just limited to being an actor. Along with this, he also ventured into the territory of film direction. At the moment, Eastwood has 30 plus movies under his belt. While some did wonders at the box office, others did not so much. But even in the highs and lows of Hollywood, there is one movie that the legendary actor is most proud of.

“As long as I’m boxing…I’m going to be ok.”
Boxing legend Claressa Shields has a stellar nickname, bestowed upon her since the age of 11. She often goes by “T-Rex” due to her childhood skinny frame and short arms, which she used to swing about without much control. That is until she was trained by her coach, Jason Crutchfield, who aided in Claressa’s growth from amateur to Olympic champion at just 17 years old.
Claressa Shields might be known these days as one of the greatest female boxers ever to live — scratch that… some would say one of the greatest living boxers to date. That’s because she’s fought hard since she was a teenager to close the gender pay gap in the sport while attaining multiple Olympic gold medals and breaking records that even men in boxing still haven’t been able to come close to attaining.

Clint Eastwood really did a number on his audience with Million Dollar Baby. The sports drama is unforgettable in more ways than one, especially thanks to the gut-wrenching ending where his character, Frankie, puts daughter-like Maggie to rest for good, despite his fatherly affection for her. As he injects a fatal injection into her, the audience’s happiness dies along with Maggie. Honestly, there is just something about Clint Eastwood when it comes to creating movies.

Despite his proven record and a ground-shattering idea, Warner Bros. was just not interested in financing a boxing movie. When they finally agreed, most of their interest was in other films including Tom Hanks’ Polar Express. Clint Eastwood soon realized that it was up to him and his team to determine Million Dollar Baby’s fate.

One of the most acclaimed films of 2004 is “Collateral,” starring Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx and Jada Pinkett Smith. Written by Stuart Beattie and directed by Michael Mann, the movie tells of a cab driver in nighttime Los Angeles who becomes the hostage of a contract killer. Released 20 years ago in August 2004, “Collateral” was a box office success, grossing $220 million worldwide on a $65 million budget. Read on for more about the “Collateral” 20th anniversary.
Most of the nation’s critics were positive on “Collateral.” Todd McCarthy in Variety wrote, “This intensely focused piece soars not only on the director’s precision-tooled style but also on the outstanding interplay between leads Cruise and Foxx.” Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times called the film “a rare thriller that’s as much character study as sound and fury.” And Peter Travers in Rolling Stone said, “Mann hits a new peak, orchestrating action, atmosphere and...

With a career spanning over 6 decades, Clint Eastwood is an undisputed icon in Hollywood. His contributions to acting and filmmaking are widely revered by fans worldwide. The Dirty Harry fame also has 4 Oscars attached to his name. Strangely, despite having such a celebrated career, he is one of the rarest celebrities who does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been one of the greatest honors in the industry. While several fans consider it as a publicity stunt, it makes the celebrities believe that they have attained a certain level. However, Clint Eastwood’s case is different as he never cared much about materialistic success. He has been nominated for the honor numerous times but he has always emphasized more on his craft rather than the accolades.

The power of TikTok can singlehandedly make a song, from reviving oldies to turning aspiring artists’ off-the-cuff samples into full-fledged songs. Over the past couple years, that power has proven particularly effective for indie artists who otherwise might struggle to get their stuff heard. Now, we’ve officially had the summer of indies on TikTok: 60% of the platform’s Top 10 hits this summer were independently distributed.
Most of these distributors make up what Music Business Worldwide refers to as “the middle class” of music-making. They’re not The Big Four, but they’re not artists totally DIYing, either. While labels of all sizes generally want to get their tracks on TikTok, these indie labels don’t have the same contentious history with the platform, have quicker turnaround times than the biggies, and many of them have embraced TikTok as the premiere method of advertising new artists and songs.

Nikkhil Advani’ s Vedaa is arguably his best work to date. It is hard-edged and steely, what with John Abraham playing a rustic mumbling Rambo on a revenge trail that leaves many maimed and killed.
By the end of this breathless romp into the ruins, which ends in the plundered corridors of a courthouse(order order indeed!) , we are left with a feeling of rage.
Vedaa will leave you angry at the end, angry that such injustice still prevails in our land. That Dalits are disallowed their basic rights by kangaroo courts run by a mofussil mafia. In the film, Abhishek Banerjee and his screen uncle Ashish Vidyarthi strut around as a law unto themselves. Those who fail to comply are given a “suitable” punishment.
All this may seem like outdated theatrics to those who live far away from rural (read: real) India. But the heartland still beats to the rhythm of brutal injustice.

At 94 years old, Clint Eastwood is still going strong in Hollywood as one of its leading filmmakers and actors. The veteran has won the Oscar for Best Director twice for Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven. But his legacy will be cemented by his roles in Dirty Harry and the Dollars trilogy.
Known for his signature and often imitated voice, Eastwood reportedly crafted it after the Dollars trilogy and only uses it in his acting, according to his co-star Morgan Freeman. The dual personality that he has crafted would make him the perfect Batman.

To celebrate the 50th birthday of two-time Best Actress winner Hilary Swank, I've decided to rank all of the double champs in everyone's favorite category. It's a list of all-time greats, but the performances range from the sublime to the truly Dangerous. They are being judged solely on the performance, but I may be somewhat swayed if they beat out more deserving nominees or didn't win for their best work. I do not include those overachieving triple and quadruple recipients who don't need any more attention. So, with a hearty Happy Birthday to the birthday girl, let's see how our Million Dollar Baby stacks up against her second-time sisters…...

Cobra Kai is once again returning to the screens, though this time, it will be with its sixth and final season. Scheduled to be released in three parts of five episodes each, the series will bring back Ralph Macchio as Daniel Larusso and Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz among others. However, besides the main lead cast, some other characters from the original saga may return as well.

In addition to being a celebrated actor, his directorial works like Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, etc have won Oscars and other accolades. Through his films, Eastwood has worked with many heavyweights such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Tom Hanks.

But westerns are not the only thing he managed to become famous for, in fact all his appearances in different genre movies became iconic and you can never get enough of them. However, there are some films that we like to watch again and again, that’s how brilliant Eastwood is in them.

Exclusive: Boxing mother-and-son drama Undercard, starring comedian Wanda Sykes in her first big dramatic film role, has begun principal photography in Puerto Rico for Catalyst Studios.
Emmy Award-winning Sykes plays Cheryl “No Mercy” Stewart, a two-time former boxing champion and recovering alcoholic.
The movie follows her attempts to reconnect with 20-year-old son Keith, a talented but troubled young man, played by rising star Bentley Green (Heist 88), who has followed his mother’s footsteps into the boxing ring.
When Keith finds himself alone in his corner, because of his gambling-addicted trainer, he is forced to turn to his mother. Determined to right past wrongs, she embarks on a mission to train her son for glory in a World Championship title fight.
They are joined in the cast by William Stanford Davis (Abbott Elementary), Xavier Mills, Estella Kahiha, Berto Colon and Puerto Rican star Roselyn Sanchez.
Undercard marks the sixth production in two years for Catalyst Studios.
It is directed by Tamika Miller and co-written by Miller and Anita M. Cal.
The movie is billed as following in the tradition of Raging Bull, Million Dollar Baby and Creed, but with the story told through the eyes of the trainer.
“It is about the struggle and survival of the human spirit. Getting up when life does its best to knock you down. This powerful, moving story is a metaphor for our own challenges. And it shows Wanda like we have never seen her before,” said Catalyst Studios Chairperson Holly Anderson Levow.
“I’m thrilled to have this amazing cast bring Undercard to life, with Wanda leading the way in what I know will be a breathtaking performance,” said Miller.
Veteran producer Anne Clements along with local producers Frances Lausell and Andres Ramirez are overseeing production in Puerto Rico. Kim Coleman is Co-Producer. Sykes also serves as an executive producer.

Morgan Freeman shared a note giving thanks to his fans Friday morning, expressing gratitude for users’ efforts calling out unauthorized AI imitations of the actor’s recognizable voice.
The celebrated 87-year-old actor has become legend for his narration in films such as “March of the Penguins,” “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Million Dollar Baby.” The sterling reputation of Freeman’s voice has made him a particularly popular target of AI-generated voice imitations, including in a recent viral series of TikToks created by a woman posing as the actor’s “nepo niece.” Freeman is not a fan of the practice.
“Thank you to my incredible fans for your vigilance and support in calling out the unauthorized use of an A.I. voice imitating me,” the actor wrote. “Your dedication helps authenticity and integrity remain paramount. Grateful. #AI #scam #imitation #IdentityProtection”

Exclusive: We’re getting word about a series in the works from Sony Pictures Television’s Affirm television and Revelations Entertainment which is centering around the Biblical Nazarene movement.
Created by John Christian Plummer, the untitled series is set six months after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The secret Nazarene movement to spread his radical teaching of love is growing. Two families, one Hebrew and one Roman, are each fraught with their own crises of faith, and are drawn together in a complex web of espionage. There are plenty of great Clint Eastwood movie moments in "Escape from Alcatraz," but it's not just the veteran star that made this a legendary prison break thriller. Directed by Don Siegel, the film was an adaptation of J. Campbell Bruce's 1963 non-fiction book of the same name, which chronicled the real-life June 1962 Alcatraz escape attempt. "Escape" also marked the fifth and final collaboration between the Siegel and Eastwood, and it's a fitting end to their fruitful working relationship. Still regarded as one of the finest films of the 1970s, "Escape" was met with widespread critical acclaim upon its 1979 release and its reputation hasn't faltered since.
Aside from the tight direction and excellent lead performance, the film also features stellar supporting performances from the likes of Patrick McGoohan, Fred Ward, Jack Thibeau, and Larry Hankin. What's more, it marked the film debut of Danny Glover, who of course went on...

Actor Morgan Freeman blasted the idea of Black History Month, calling it an “insult” and saying the separate designation of black history is “not right.”
The 87-year-old actor said he “detests” Black History Month.
“The mere idea of it. You are going to give me the shortest month in a year? And you are going to celebrate ‘my’ history?” Freeman told Variety. “This whole idea makes my teeth itch. It’s not right.”
Freeman, who has been outspoken against Black History Month for years, stressed that black history is American history and should be taught and celebrated.
“My history is American history. It’s the one thing in this world I am interested in beyond making money, having a good time and getting enough sleep,” he said.

On top of being one of the most talented actors and directors in Hollywood, Clint Eastwood has been a ladies man. Ever since the release of his first film, he has had many admirers who have fauned over him and his charm. One such person happened to be one of the most iconic and successful journalists of all time.

With the number of Oscar winners Clint Eastwood has been a part of during his career, his advice on cinema should be given a seriousness similar to the word of God itself. Be it for his acting or his direction, if there is one person in Hollywood who knows how to make a movie, it’s him. The perfect example of his genius and the lengths he is willing to go to make a film is Million Dollar Baby.
Clint Eastwood in a still from Million Dollar Baby I Warner Bros.
There were a lot of conflicts the film had to go through behind the scenes. Most famously, the role of Maggie was almost played by Sandra Bullock until she had to leave due to scheduling conflicts. Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the only time that the movie almost had a different fate, as the studio was initially hesitant to even make the project.
