A very interesting exploration of relationships that unfold in a very unexpected way. The conclusion was surprising not only in the extent of Magette's conviction as a bad cop but the extent of his ice cold heart. The death scene was very unexpected and was the jewel on the crown of how the writer was able give nothing away as the characters zigged instead of zagged. The film felt like it was part of something bigger. I wanted to see more. Technically speaking I loved how the director divided the film into three sections. First, the approach and anticipation of Detective Staley which was all visual. Second, the heart of the characters and their motivations and arcs which was dialog driven. And thirdly, the climax and resolution sans dialog allowing the emotion to sink in unfettered.
