Lars Ulrich, who appeared in this movie, is in the band Metallica. One of Metallica's songs, "For Whom The Bell Tolls", is based on the Ernest Hemingway novel of the same name.

Martha Gellhorn first meets Earnest Hemingway at Sloppy Joe's bar in Key West. There is still a Sloppy Joe's bar in Key West however if you would like to visit the original location, where Hemingway hung out and drank with his friends, you would have to visit Captain Tony's Saloon which is only about six blocks from Earnest Hemingway's home ( about a fifteen minute walk ... sober)
The first scene held between Hemingway and Gellhorn is set in Sloppy Joe's, still an incresibly popular bar and music venue in Key West. Sloppy Joe's has been open since 1933.
