At the start of the series, Michael Seater (Derek) and Ashley Leggat (Casey) were both 18 although they were playing 14-year-olds.
Although playing fighting stepsiblings, Ashley Leggat and Michael Seater became best friends while filming the show.
In the original script, Casey and Derek were supposed to be in junior high instead of high school.
Derek and Edwin are big wrestling fans and the wrestling matches shown in the series are from the old Mid South Wrestling territory.
One of the records on Derek's wall in Sheriff's 1983 self-titled album. Sheriff had minor success in Canada in the early 80's and in 1988 the scored a number record with "When I'm With You" that was released five years earlier. John Ralston (George Venturi) is actually friends with Sheriff's lead singer Freddy Curci; they attended the same Toronto high school.
