Exclusive: Walden Media has snapped up the life rights of Brian Schwartz, an advertising exec turned lawn care philanthropist known as “The Lawn Ranger,” for the development of a dramatic feature titled Grassroots.
Based on Schwartz’s true story, the film will explore his journey from corporate executive to a beacon of hope, as he selflessly mowed lawns for seniors, veterans, and the disabled during the Covid-19 pandemic and started a national movement. In Theory’s Samuel Kochman and Aperture’s Adam Goldworm will serve as producers, with Walden’s Frank Smith and Benjamin Tappan serving as executive producers.
In early 2020, when Schwartz faced the daunting challenge of unemployment after being let go from his advertising job, he found himself navigating a whirlwind of personal crises: his wife’s pregnancy and his father’s terminal brain cancer diagnosis. Peter Dinklage has found himself in two viral rumors this week, and neither had anything to do with his insistance that Disney’s “Snow White” demeans people with Dwarfism. One rumor is about his alleged death and one is about a movie poster for “Elf 2.”
Dinlage’s “Death”
No. Peter Dinklage did not die in an accident at Disneyland. This rumor comes for a parody account @Mcbride69 on TikTok.
In the “video” a picture of actor Jason Momoa is posted with “Peter Dinklage 1969-2024” written on it, while “Amazing Grace” is playing in the background. The accompanying text is written like an official report and says,
“Peter Dinklage Dies in Tragic Rollercoaster Accident at Disneyland Orlando

CBS recently announced exciting news about Devon and Abby’s upcoming wedding on The Young and the Restless. And this isn’t anything that Victor Newman can control. Devon’s mother, Harmony/Yolanda, and half-sister, Ana, are headed back to Genoa City for the festivities. Since Ana hasn’t stepped foot in the town since she left five years ago, let’s refresh our memories of the character.
Devon’s Younger Sibling
While Jamia Simone Nash originally played Ana Hamilton, actress Loren Lott stepped into the role in 2018. Since leaving Y&R in 2019, Lott has guest-starred on the Ava Duvernay series Cherish the Day and the CW’s All-American Homecoming. Plus, she’s starred in TV movies like Praise This, A Wesley Christmas, and A Wesley Christmas Wedding.

“Save the Children,” an early ’70s concert film featuring many of that era’s biggest names in Black music, was in need of some saving itself. Although the documentary featured iconic stars like the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Bill Withers, the movie disappeared completely off the radar after being briefly released to theaters in 1973 by Paramount Pictures, never getting an authorized home-video release, let alone revival screenings. But salvation has come, with Netflix having picked up the doc to make it available to be seen for the first time in a half-century.
The two-hour film documents a concert that was put on in Chicago in 1972 to support Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Operation Push, with an all-star cast of performers that also included the Staple Singers, Roberta Flack, Isaac Hayes, Gladys Knight, the Tempations, Ramsey Lewis, Wilson Pickett, Sammy Davis Jr., Cannonball Adderley and Jerry Butler. Once, I was sitting in the apartment of WestBam, Germany’s iconic techno DJ, at Berlin Alexanderplatz, when Juan Atkins’ name came up. Without him, we all would be nothing — that’s how WestBam described him. I was surprised to learn that the two had never met. It was a coincidence that Juan, whom I’d met earlier, was in town that night. So we spontaneously invited him over, and 20 minutes later, he joined us for dinner. WestBam treated Juan with extreme respect.

We just finished another season in Hope Valley.
When Calls the Heart is Hallmark's longest-running series, and when dramas last that long, they often run into issues with creativity slumps and extensively massive casts.
When Calls the Heart Season 11 felt lackluster. The wrong arcs led the story, with only a few bright spots sprinkled in.
While the dual strikes didn't affect the series, they still crammed too much content into 12 episodes. The cast has grown and evolved, and it's challenging to cover everyone's stories accordingly.
The rotating arcs became tiresome, mainly when some characters were prominently featured one week but might only appear for a few minutes in the next few episodes.

It also had to deal with the aftermath of Lucas's shooting, Lucas and Elizabeth's break-up, and bringing Elizabeth and Natan together respectfully.

Sometimes, we crave another chance, while we run away from it other times.
On When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 8, Tom Thornton attempted to make amends to those from whom J.B. Sweeney had conned money, and Joseph and Jacob Canfield settled a 20-year-long grudge.
Rosemary and Bill also met with Clayton Pike to clarify his name.
Even though the NYC police arrested J.B. Sweened and recovered the money that Ned wired them, Tom could still be charged as an accessory to fraud unless he paid back the money he owed Benson Hills and Jameson.
Tom was willing to take responsibility, but everyone stood behind, most of all Nathan and Elizabeth.
They formulated a plan to host their own choir festival with neighboring towns and collect donations.
Everyone was on board. The problem was Rosemary was so excited that she spilled the beans to Mayor Hickman, who wanted Tom arrested immediately.

Faced with the imminent death of her beloved mother, Ann, Priscilla Presley was comforted in knowing she was able to give her some peace. Priscilla says she played Elvis Presley‘s gospel music for her mother in her final hours, hoping it would bring her comfort.
Priscilla Presley’s beloved mother, Ann Iverson, died in 2021
In August 2021, Priscilla Presley told People Magazine that she knew her mother had reached the end of her life. Subsequently, she arranged for a religious blessing for Ann.
“I had a priest come in to give her her last rites about four days before she died. He told me, ‘Remember Priscilla, hearing is the last thing that goes, so say positive things for her spirit,'” she revealed.
Priscilla took that advice and played some of her late ex-husband‘s gospel music for her mother. She hoped it would comfort Anne in her final days.

The married couple has released “Amazing Grace” as the first single from the full album, which will drop on October 20. Pre-order now on iTunes!

Et got an exclusive sneak peek at McPhee and Foster’s debut single together, which caused a bit of back and forth between them when it came to deciding on having it on the album.
“We argued a little bit, not in the bad way,” McPhee tells Et. “It’s a bit of a debate over whether we should do ‘Amazing Grace’ because I said, ‘It’s not a Christmas song, it’s a religious song.’ The label ended up actually really liking it because we’re using it as our first single to kind of get out there, kind of earlier before the...

Of all the incredible things Lana Del Rey has given us this year — an excellent album, her first concerts in over three years, even more “Snow on the Beach” — her greatest (if not inadvertent) gift might’ve been a brief, unofficial stint working at a Waffle House in Florence, Alabama.
Back in July, videos and photos emerged of Del Rey sporting a Waffle House uniform — complete with a hastily-assembled Lana name tag — chatting with customers and her temporary co-workers, and even serving up a few dishes. It was, for lack of a more imaginative,...

The couple’s nanny, Yadira Calito, was killed after an accident in August.
David Foster and Katharine McPhee are still working through their grief. In August, the couple’s nanny, Yadira Calito, was killed following an accident.
“It’s been tough for her,” Foster tells Et in a joint interview with McPhee. “Yeah, it’s been tough. She’s managing.”
“Thank you,” McPhee adds.
On Aug. 11, McPhee shared that she would have to leave her and Foster’s Hitman Tour early, following a “horrible tragedy.”
Days later, the LAPD shared that Calito was a customer at the Hamer Toyota dealership service center in Mission Hills, California, when an 84-year-old woman crashed her Toyota RAV4 into the building, causing major damage and colliding with several people inside. Two employees, ages 23 and 35, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Calito, 55, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Multi-award-winning singer Lana Del Rey seemed to have taken a day off from her celebrity life, as she was seen working at an Alabama Waffle House last week.
A video of Del Rey working behind the counter of a Waffle House in Florence, Alabama, shows her wearing black shorts and their blue uniform shirt with a yellow nametag pinned on the front where her first name, Lana, could be seen. In the video, she also talks to someone and tells them not to film without permission.
Other videos of the “Summertime Sadness” singer signing autographs in the Waffle House parking lot she was working at and an American Thrift Store parking lot were posted online. Del Rey was also recorded singing “Amazing Grace” to a Waffle House customer.
Why Del Rey was working there is unclear. Still, many have speculated that she was there to promote upcoming music connected to the city of Florence.

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

In Netflix's thriller series "Beef," Steven Yeun plays Danny Cho, a struggling contractor who feels responsible for the failure of his parents' motel. In the very first episode, he gets into a road rage incident with Amy Lau (played by Ali Wong), a successful and wealthy businessperson who can't help but feel a lot of ennui about her life. It sets them both on a course toward mutual destruction, changing their lives and the lives of everyone they know forever.
During the series, Danny joins a Korean church in Orange County where the pastor is the husband of his ex-girlfriend. At first, Danny's involvement seems pretty self-interested, but he's taken aback by the emotional response he has to the service and the music there. Editor’s note: Tom Luddy, co-founder of the Telluride Film Festival, died last week at age 79. Here, filmmaker Alan Elliott, who directed the Aretha Franklin documentary Amazing Grace, remembers his kind spirit and moral compass. He also pays tribute to one of Luddy’s signature projects: a collaboration with Agnès Varda on an influential 1968 film about the Black Panthers.
Tom Luddy, the benevolent wizard/curator of the Telluride Film Festival, who, in the post-’60s glow of generational change in the film world, created safe space to get high (at altitude) for his people: film lovers.
Tom was non-denominational about “film lovers.” As eager to talk film with a total stranger in line at one of the smaller theaters at the festival as he was with Werner Herzog or Martin Scorsese, the socialistic mores of Telluride were a reflection of Tom.
