A somber Luke Bryan thanked an audience of radio broadcasters on Thursday for their prayers after the death of his infant niece, who passed away on Tuesday from several health complications.
“I tell you what,” Bryan said, “when I’m checking my socials , and I’m seeing so many of you guys that are lifting my family up, I really appreciate it. It means the world to me.”
Bryan, 40, was the surprise lead-off performer on the star-packed bill, and he set the tone for Universal Music Group’s annual showcase during the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. The event offers...

Florida public relations executive Jake Keiser never “in a million years” thought she’d leave behind her work-driven life in Tampa Bay to start a sustainable farm in rural Oxford, Mississippi.
But after suffering six miscarriages, the self-described “workaholic” found herself deeply depressed — and in need of a change, and a breath of fresh farm air.
“After the loss of my last baby, I coped by overworking,” Keiser, 43, tells People. “It was a clue I wasn’t happy and something was broken.
“I was severely depressed and I needed to start living again, to give myself permission to feel pain.

Nathaniel: Hello dear readers. I'm pleased to announce the return of the Red Carpet Lineup series for awards season kicking off with The Gotham Awards. It's the fashion series for people who don't care who people are wearing so much as who be doing the wearing. This season I'm happy to say that two ladies who could walk the red carpet themselves are joining me: Tfe's Los Angeles Branch divas Anne Marie & Margaret.
I'm calling this post "Revenge of the Nineties" because look at all these Nineties A-Listers? or at least B+ Listers (hi Heather Graham!) lighting up the room again.
Uma, Rollergirl, Rene, Famke, and Keener
Margaret: I love the variety. Whatever else you can say about these outfits, they all should have felt pretty confident they weren't going to see anyone else showing up in the same thing.
Nathaniel: I have a 100% certainty about which of these outfits...

Plot: The story follows Steven (Phillippe) and Shannon (LeFevre), an American couple, who travel to Puerto Rico to finalize the adoption of their new seven-year-old daughter, Nina. However, when Steven clashes with an intimidating local (Cusack), things go from strange to absolutely terrifying when Nina disappears from her bed one night. Despite frantic efforts to recover their daughter, the young couple hit roadblock after roadblock and become increasingly desperate, finding themselves further entwined in a perplexing web of lies and confusion. The new movie is directed by Alan White (Broken) and will be released on VOD and in select theaters on September 19th. Trailer:...

It seems like every John Cusack movie lately comes and goes just as quickly as we briefly hear about it online. From The Prince to The Numbers Station and even Grand Piano (though it's pretty entertaining), they all offer nothing in the vein of memorable performances from the actor who once shined on the big screen. And it looks like another one is on the way in this trailer for Reclaim. This one is supposedly inspired by real events and follows an American couple who travel to Puerto Rico to finalize an adoption and pick up their seven year-old adoptee, but as you might expect, things aren't at all what they seem to be. Ugh. Here's the first trailer for Alan White's Reclaim from USA Today: Reclaim is directed by Alan White (Broken) and written by Luke Davies and Carmine Gaeta. The film follows Steven (Ryan Phillippe) and Shannon (Rachelle LeFevre), an American couple,...

Shakira lost her last artist in the game when Kristen Merlin was sent home from The Voice Tuesday night.
Tessanne Chin Returns To The Voice
The show started with a performance by Rascall Flats, but then Carson Daly went right into the saves of the night. The first artist voted through to the finals: Jake Worthington from Team Blake Shelton – no surprises there. Blake was so happy, he said watching Jake make it to the finals was like watching his own son graduate.
Before the bottom three were announced, The Voice confessions, where Usher revealed that he would be a magician if he weren’t a singer because magicians “get all the girls.” And then The Voice welcomed back previous contestants, supposedly in an effort to make one of their alums somewhat successful in the business. Christina Aguilera’s finalist from last season Jacquie Lee returned to The Voice to...

The most extraordinary thing about Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s big post-Super Bowl show? Besides a few unobtrusive cameos — compare them, for example, to Prince Presents New Girl: A Royal Post-Game Engagement Brought To You by Ford Focus – Sunday’s special episode was hardly extraordinary at all. Football itself came into play only once, during a brief cold open that pitted the Nine-Niners against their archnemeses in the Fdny; both A and B-plots revolved around fairly standard shenanigans in the office and in the field; even Adam Sandler managed to keep things toned down when he popped up briefly during the show’s second half.

Bleak House: Collyer Returns to the Slipping Down Life
After her fantastic 2006 directorial debut, Sherrybaby, director Laurie Collyer returns with a sophomore feature, Sunlight Jr., which sees a return to similar themes of downtrodden events in the lives of the economically disadvantaged, as crafted around a strong central female vantage point. As such, it also belongs to a certain subset of indie cinema featuring A list beauties made plain (or as plain as one can try to make them) in working class roles with lives dictated by the trap of minimum wage. Here we have Naomi Watts in another sterling performance in a role that’s the seeming antithesis to her stint as Princess Di in the anticipated biopic that drops next month. But the highest praise here should be reserved for Collyer, once again proving she’s adept at capturing a believable portrait of people living day by...

With Grand Piano getting rave reviews (read ours here), John Cusack is a hot commodity again; and he, Ryan Phillippe, Rachelle Lefevre, Jacki Weaver, and Luis Guzman are all starring in Reclaim, a suspense-thriller inspired by true events.
Per Deadline the film has just begun shooting in Puerto Rico and is directed by Alan White (Risk, Broken). The most recent script draft is by Luke Davies from an original screenplay by Carmine Gaeta.
Phillippe ("Damages," The Lincoln Lawyer) and Lefevre ("Under the Dome," Twilight) play an American couple who head to Puerto Rico to finalize the adoption of their new seven-year-old daughter, a Haitian orphan named Nina. Kiss Me Deadly (Criterion) Robert Aldrich’s 1955 reinvention of the film noir detective story is one of cinema’s great genre mash-ups: part hardboiled noir; part cold war paranoid thriller; and part science- fiction. Ralph Meeker plays Mickey Spillane’s fascist detective Mike Hammer as a narcissistic simian thug, a sadist who would rather smash a suspect’s fingers than make love to the bevvy of beautiful dames that cross his path. In fact, the only time you see a smile cross Meeker’s sneering mug is when he’s doling out pain, with a vengeance. When a terrified young woman (Cloris Leachman, film debut) literally crossed Hammer’s path one night, and later turns up dead, he vows to get to the bottom of her brutal demise. One of the most influential films ever made, and perhaps the most-cited film by the architects...

Subject: Heather Graham, 41-year old American actress
Date of Assessment: June 8, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Nudity, beauty, sleep
Negative Buzzwords: Romcom, limited appeal and talent
The Case: People like to talk about the so-called "downward trajectory" that Heather Graham's career has supposedly taken. Still, she's worked steadily since her first movie role in 1988's License to Drive (the one where both Coreys stuffed her in a car trunk), which she followed up with an acclaimed turn in Drugstore Cowboy and an adorable character, Annie Blackburn, on the second season of "Twin Peaks." Then, she toiled away in relative obscurity for nearly five years until she stunned audiences (or at least myself) as Jon Favreau's dance partner in the last act of Swingers and appeared alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Two Girls and a Guy. Then, Heather became the very naked Rollergirl in Boogie Nights, which was a pretty overrated movie...

Directed by David O. Russell
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, James Brolin.
Synopsis Jessica Biel gets a nail shot into her brain. Yay! Oh, okay, so after that she starts acting all crazily and ends up going to Congress for some reason and runs across helpful Congressman Gyllenhaal.
Brought to you by Whoever is crazy enough to partner up with David O. "Some F***ing C***" Russell (i.e. Red Wagon Entertainment)
Expected release date Given this movie's checkered history, who knows?
Joe: Nailed's tumultuous (that's putting it lightly -- production stopped at least 2-3 times as they ran out of money) road to completion almost made me forget what an intriguing prospect it is creatively. Yeah, yeah, Jessica Biel -- but look at all that other talent. Plus: Paul Reubens! Jon Stewart! Kirstie Alley! Even if it's bad, it could be a total glorious car wreck.

Good Vibrations is a potential animated mid-season replacement series for Fox. Created by Pineapple Express’ David Gordon Green, Variety says the show “centers on two high school surfer dudes who live near the beach in California.”
The trade also reports voice casting is complete and will feature Josh Gad (Back to You), Adam Brody (The O.C.), Debi Mazar (Entourage), Olivia Thirlby (New York I Love You), Alan Tudyk (Firefly) and Jake Busey (Broken).
Gad will star as Mondo, an “out-of-shape, shaggy-haired teen looking to master surfing and win over Jeena (voiced by Thirlby) -- who thinks of Mondo more like a brother.”
Brody, the once and maybe future Flash, plays Woodie, Mondo's best friend. Tudyk will supply the voice for Lonnie, “an old surf bum who doubles as the show's narrator.”...

Truly Indie hooked on 'Broken'
NEW YORK -- Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban's Truly Indie distribution program will handle the theatrical release of Broken, a drug addiction drama starring Heather Graham, Jeremy Sisto, Jake Busey, Tess Harper and Linda Hamilton.
Graham plays Hope, an aspiring musician who moves to Hollywood to find success but ends up working the overnight shift at a run-down diner. She develops with junkie boyfriend (Sisto) a relationship as addictive as the heroin they share. Busey, Harper and Hamilton play some of the seedy Los Angeles denizens she encounters along the way.
Australian director Alan White's first American film premiered at November's AFI Film Fest. The producers on Broken are Brian R. Etting and Walk on the Beach Prods.' Jerry Wayne, who also financed the project. White's feature credits include Risk and Erskineville Kings.
Truly Indie will release Broken on Oct. 5 in New York, followed by distribution in Los Angeles and three other cities during the month.
The deal was negotiated by Wayne with Truly Indie executive director Kelly Sanders and head of business and legal affairs Jason Janego.
