As in the previous series "Da Vinci's Inquest" the character of Dominic Da Vinci was based on the real-life B.C. Chief Coroner Larry Campbell, who after his tenure of coroner acted as a technical adviser on the show. Like the character of Dominic Da Vinci, Larry Campbell was elected mayor of Vancouver in 2002.
