A lot is riding on television pilots. That's essentially your first episode, so it's going to determine whether the network or streamer moves forward on your series or adds it to the scrap heap of shows that almost were.
While shooting the pilot, several issues might arise. Oftentimes, that issue is casting. Be it a matter of chemistry or being just plain wrong for a role that initially felt like a perfect fit, actors can find themselves jettisoned even after the pilot is finished. "Gilligan's Island" had some casting slip-ups before bringing together an ensemble for the ages. On a decidedly more serious (and pricey) note, there's "Game of Thrones," the pilot for which went so incredibly sideways they had to reshoot the whole thing and recast one of the most pivotal roles.
The big loser here was Tamzin Merchant, a then up-and-coming young actor who'd landed what she thought...

When one is making an adaptation of a work as iconic as Game of Thrones, there are several things to keep in mind. Considering how the book series had some of the most dedicated fans in the fantasy genre long before the series came around, it is not surprising that there was a lot of pressure when the show was being made.

Shadow and Bone attracted attention even before its release on Netflix. It was awaited both by fans of the original source – Leigh Bardugo's novels, and by fantasy lovers who had not read the books. However, as is often the case with Netflix projects, Shadow and Bone was canceled after its second season.
If you still miss that magical fantasy atmosphere, then these series are definitely for you.
1. Carnival Row, 2019-2023
Centaurs, fairies, fauns, and other fairytale creatures have increased the population of the city of Burgue, but the people are not too happy about their new neighbors. The city even has a separate area called Carnival Row, where non-humans live. An unknown madman has started hunting magical creatures, killing them and leaving almost no evidence.
The investigation is taken over by a former military man, now Detective Philostrate, almost the only police officer who does not feel hatred and contempt for the magical inhabitants.

Movie franchises moving to the small screen tend to come with significant caveats, thanks to lower budgets.
Fortunately, no expense was spared in producing the Apple TV+ drama series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a new series based on Legendary's Monserverse.
The official trailer for the highly-anticipated project dropped during a New York Comic-Con panel for the series, and let's just say we're convinced.
The impressive cast includes Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
That's a perfect cast who bring their A-game in the trailer, showcasing a very different world after the battle between Godzilla and the Titans.
With San Francisco pretty much obliterated in that battle, there's a desire for answers about why monsters have become so prominent.

Cara Delevingne exploded onto the modeling scene in the early 2010s as one of the most sought-after names in fashion. As her modeling career took off, she also took up acting and has since appeared in a number of different films and TV shows over the years - including "Paper Towns," "Suicide Squad," "Her Smell," "Only Murders in the Building," and "Carnival Row."
Despite her celebrity status and fame, Delevingne is not very open about her personal life, including those she's romanced through the years. In the past, Delevingne has vaguely alluded to how she chooses her partners. "However one defines themselves, whether it's 'they' or 'he' or 'she,' I fall in love with the person - and that's that," she told Variety in 2020 of her pansexual identity. "I'm attracted to the person."

Sony‘s Gran Turismo is peeling away from the starting line with $1.4M in previews. The studio began previewing the game-related sports drama two weeks ago and has included the overall take on Friday’s total. Screenings turned key at 2 p.m. on Thursday at 3,156 markets, including Plf and IMAX theaters. Analysts say the Gran Turismo box office could race toward the top spot this weekend with $12M-$15M across 3,800 cinemas.
Gran Turismo’s road to release is a winding one. Sony decided at the end of July to move the feature’s wide release from August 11 to August 25. The strategy was to put distance between Gran Turismo and Barbenheimer, a lethal combination that’s dominated the box office for several weeks. Another reason for moving the film is the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which forbids stars from the film to participate in promotional events. In Los Angeles,...
