Cara Delevingne Says Concerning Paparazzi Images Led to Rehab Stay, Sobriety Journey: “I Was Not Ok”
Cara Delevingne sparked widespread concern after paparazzi images captured at a private airport in L.A. last September showed the model and actress looking disheveled and acting erratically upon returning from Burning Man. Now, in a revealing cover interview with Vogue, the 30-year-old said she’s grateful for those images because it sent her on a path to rehab and sobriety.
“I hadn’t slept. I was not Ok,” she told Vogue writer Chioma Nnadi. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, Ok, I don’t look well. You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.”
For the interview, conducted in late January, Delevingne confessed that she was four months sober after a stint in rehab late last year. “I’ve had interventions of a sort, but I wasn’t ready.

You have to wonder whether Holliday Grainger misses the corsets. It’s been five years since the star of Strike last wore the punishing vintage garment; an eternity really, given that she spent the better part of a decade bound into one playing frothy aristocrats in shows such as The Borgias and haughty royalty in films like Anna Karenina. “I’ve worn so many I think my bloody liver is bruised,” she cackles, a trace of her native Manchester accent peeping through the negative space of her vowels. The short answer, then, is no. She does not miss the corsets.
These days, Grainger is about comfort. The actor calls me from bed one afternoon, her hair pulled back from her high-boned, full-moon face, which is bare. Not celebrity bare (meaning concealer and mascara) but actually bare. She’s in workout clothes and her rosy cheeks are rosier than usual. I...

It’s difficult to believe that intimacy coordinators are a relatively new function of a film or TV set. With love scenes and nudity onscreen, coordinators’ roles are to make sure that actors feel safe and secure while filming.
Yet Alicia Vikander recalled to Harper’s Bazaar UK that she didn’t always have that experience during productions. Vikander, who next stars in Olivier Assayas’ “Irma Vep” TV series, said coordinators “should have existed at the beginning of my career” to hopefully curb uncomfortable encounters.
“I’ve been in situations that were not fine, where I didn’t feel I was protected,” Vikander said.
The “Tomb Raider” star described one instance of being on set where “everyone was busy doing their own thing and, in the middle, you have an actor who sits there naked for a couple of hours.”
She continued, “And someone is supposed to arrive with a robe,...

Alicia Vikander (Blue Bayou) is replacing Michelle Williams as Queen Catherine Parr in the royal thriller Firebrand from Brazilian helmer Karim Ainouz (The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão), Deadline has confirmed. She’ll star alongside Jude Law, who is set to portray King Henry VIII.
Ainousz’s first English-language feature, based on Elizabeth Fremantle’s bestselling historical novel Queen’s Gambit, centers on Parr—Henry VIII’s sixth and final wife, who was the only one to avoid banishment or death.
By the time young Catherine Parr (Vikander) married the deteriorating, increasingly despotic King Henry VIII (Law), she had no assurances of a happy marriage; in fact, she had no assurances of surviving this marriage at all. Of her predecessors, two were thrown out, one died in childbirth and two were beheaded. While Catherine tried to keep her head about her to navigate the politics of her position, she brought a secret agenda.

Suicide Squad star Cara Delevingne has opened up about her pansexuality during a candid interview. Speaking to Variety for its Power of Pride issue, the model-turned-actress discussed everything from her LGBTQ+ identity to disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein’s reaction to her same-sex relationships.
Delevingne – whose other notable screen credits include the historical romantic drama Tulip Fever and Amazon Prime show Carnival Row – has previously described herself as ‘bisexual’ and later ‘sexually fluid,’ but in her latest interview, she firmly declared herself pansexual, meaning she’s attracted to people regardless of their gender.
“I feel different all the time. Some days, I feel more womanly. Some days, I feel more like a man. I always will remain, I think, pansexual. However one defines themselves, whether it’s ‘they’ or ‘he’ or ‘she,’ I fall in love with the person – and that’s that. I’m attracted to the person.”

Ask Fiona Apple to describe her friend Cara Delevingne, and she compares her to a foreign country where you instantly feel at home. “Like if Paris were populated by Chicagoans,” Apple writes in an email to Variety. “At first sight, you may notice the fancy threads and sleek silhouettes and highbrow art — but in live action, she’s a big, hearty hug of a woman, with a salty spirit and a loving kind of strength.”
For most of her life, Delevingne wasn’t sure what to make of her own desires: whether she could claim them, or even say them out loud. On this day in May, during a Zoom conversation from Los Angeles, Delevingne says that her path to acceptance involved discarding labels. “The thing is with me, I change a lot,” says the 27-year-old British actor, model, singer and star of the Amazon TV series “Carnival Row,” set in a fantasy universe.

How Gordon Brown, Harvey Weinstein and a milkman ensured film was a ‘ghastly disaster’
It is a tale of two bestselling books about 17th century Dutch painters which were both adapted into films. One was a joy. The other a “complete nightmare from start to finish” which ended in flames, along with Harvey Weinstein.
The writers Tracy Chevalier and Deborah Moggach told an audience at Hay festival of their hugely different experiences adapting their novels Girl With a Pearl Earring and Tulip Fever.

Roadside Attractions has released the trailer for “Trial by Fire,” which finds Jack O’Connell back in prison — onscreen, that is. The “Starred Up” and “Unbroken” star teams up with Laura Dern in Edward Zwick’s based-on-fact drama about a death-row inmate and an unlikely ally who did her utmost to exonerate him. Watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis: “‘Trial by Fire’ is the true-life Texas story of the unlikely bond between an imprisoned death row inmate (Jack O’Connell) and a mother of two from Houston (Laura Dern) who, though facing staggering odds, fights mightily for his freedom. Cameron Todd Willingham, a poor, uneducated heavy metal devotee with a violent streak and a criminal record, is convicted of arson-related triple homicide in 1992. During his 12 years on death row, Elizabeth Gilbert, an improbable ally, uncovers questionable methods and illogical conclusions in his case, and battles with the state...

‘Tell It To The Bees’: Anna Paquin & Holliday Grainger’s Lesbian Romance Doesn’t Spark [Tiff Review]
Fine acting, some lovely moments, and good intentions cannot save the fifties-set melodrama “Tell It to the Bees” from being a major disappointment. And that’s a shame since this 2018 Toronto International Film Festival world premiere is positively bursting with promise. Consider: The leads are Oscar winner Anna Paquin and rising star Holliday Grainger.

There used to be a time when the period romantic drama was thriving. You could find it on the BBC, nearly every Oscar race of the ‘80s and ‘90s and when Harvey Weinstein found some cache, he certainly pursued this kind of picture relentlessly even up until TWC’s essentially last movie, “Tulip Fever,” due to the Academy’s fondness for them. These days the breed is somewhat rare, but given that the content-hungry Netflix seemingly needs an oversaturation of all kinds of genre, romantic period dramas, in this case, a British one set during WWII, have been able to find a home on their streaming channel.

Every so often, it’s nice to see a film that’s been on the shelf for years finally come out and actually get solid reviews. Usually, that’s the mark of a terrible flick. Here, in the case of The Seagull, we have a much happier outcome. Initially earmarked to come out a few years ago, it finally played at the recent Tribeca Film Festival, before heading into release this week. Too often, films of this ilk end up like Tulip Fever, finally released to outright pans. The Seagull, while not likely to end up being championed like Margaret, which took nearly a decade to come out but was feted upon release, still is the rare delayed title to clearly not have been shelved because of quality. The movie is an adaptation of the classic Anton Chekhov play. Here’s the synopsis from IMDb, in case you’re unfamiliar...

Familiarity with the “Tomb Raider” video game series isn’t required when it comes to enjoying the “Tomb Raider” reboot. By the time it gets gunning on its second act, shrewd audiences should be able to identify not only broad strokes of gameplay, but also whole missions required of Alicia Vikander in her quest to, well, raid tombs and such. Roar Uthaug’s new feature is positively jittery with action sequences, hopscotching from one scene to the next with little connective tissue. That’s okay: When “Tomb Raider” digs into its more creative action, including a breathless bike race through London and a genuinely queasy shipwreck, it’s about as entertaining as popcorn entertainment gets these days. It’s when the film falls back on the old tropes that things grind to a halt.

“When I was growing up, a film producer was a rich, fat man with his feet on the table and a cigar in his mouth,” says Rebecca O’Brien, an independent producer and long-time collaborator of director Ken Loach. “And now, you know, that’s me. Apart from rich and fat.”
“That’s me, apart from rich,” quips her friend, Suffragette producer Alison Owen, who worked on five Harvey Weinstein films, including Proof (2005) with Gwyneth Paltrow and, more recently, Tulip Fever. Last year Owen acknowledged her former colleague’s “sleazeball” reputation and spoke out in support of the women who came forward. She is now working towards legislation against harassment in the film and TV industry.

Dame Judi Dench has admitted to feeling torn in two directions by the sexual misconduct allegations rocking Hollywood.
Speaking to Sky News at the London premiere of The Murder on the Orient Express on Thursday, the Oscar-winner said, “It’s very hard when a lot of people concerned are great friends of yours.”
“I feel loyal to them and at the same time I feel appalled by what has happened to a lot of young actresses who had no way of getting out.”
Dench — who plays Princess Dragomiroff in the revamped murder-mystery alongside Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Hamilton‘s Leslie Odom Jr.
