This episode convinced Jack Webb to hire Kent McCord as the second lead in his new series "Adam-12".
In part of Jack Webb's "What Is A Cop" speech, he mentions that the job "doesn't pay overtime". He was correct; until 1974 Los Angeles Police Officers were not paid overtime.
The famous opening theme is done with 100% percussion instruments for this episode.
The reason for the use of a tympani for the series theme in this episode is, during the early part of 1967 when the episode was produced, the American Federation of Musicians was briefly on strike against the studios and Webb could not get a full orchestra.
The announcer says that 6 months after being cleared, Officer Culver is wounded and is awarded the Medal of Valor. In the last episode of Adam-12, Officer Reed, played by Kent McCord, is awarded the Medal of Valor after rescuing a wounded Officer Malloy during a shootout.
