Blood: The Last Vampire began as Blood: The Last Vampire (2000) (2000), a Japanese anime movie scripted by Kenji Kamiyama and Katsuya Terada. It led to a manga, Blood: The Last Vampire (2001), written by Benkyo Tamaoki. It also gave rise to Blood+ (2005) (2005-2006), a 50-episode anime series.
Not very closely. There are maybe two or three scenes that will look familiar. However, the movie is based on the original anime (meaning, only some things are the same). For example, there's no Haji.
Again, one has to differentiate between three main version. First of all there's the well-known International Version released in Europe or in the States. Then there's a so-called Korean version that runs shorter than the International Version, due to a longer scene that was left out, and this version features also some alternate shots and other differences in comparison to the international version. There's also a special Hong Kong version that is different from the Korean version and of course the international version. This Hong Kong version features the "longer" version of the international cut but contains the scene with the Afro-vampires which is probably missing in all the American and European versions (which is definitely true for the German DVD) and the Korea DVD.
