Alternate versions

In Australia, the uncut version was rated R18+ by the OFLC and was subsequently edited to receive a lower MA15+ rating. According to Universal a few seconds of footage were trimmed in order to receive the new rating. The uncut version was released on DVD/Blu-ray.

The movie's original cut was rated 18 by the BBFC for the UK, and released in that form. The movie was then edited down by two minutes to secure a 15 certificate, and re-released two weeks later as "Brüno: Snipped - The 15-Rated Version". Both versions were shown in parallel, with the edited version targeting the more-lucrative teenage audience.

In addition to the generally available theatrical release, there is a shorter version available in the Philippines. Runtimes are, respectively, "1h 21m( 81 min)" and "1h 15m (75 min) (Philippines)".
