Madness

2 ditzy blonds attired in cheerleading outfits on their way to a cheerleading competition stop at a gas station to refuel. At the same time 2 guys are having car trouble nearby. At this point the movie looked like the start of a retro porn from the seventies. Anyway, one of the guys comes over to the girls who just finished stretching (sorry, they were wearing long johns, or something, underneath) and starts a conversation; a "porno" conversation (okay, a lame dialog and bad acting conversation). The gist of which is that he and his buddy are having car trouble and need a ride. In the meantime, said buddy is having a stare down with some loony who just drove up in a truck wearing a mask like a bandit or outlaw from the wild west. The crazo is gunning his engine and staring hard with his mismatched pupils. Eventually he relents and drives off. The simple-minded girls agree to give the guys a lift. Shortly thereafter, the masked psycho is on his walkie-talkie with another of his ilk communicating in another language or possibly crazyspeak since I didn't know what the f!!ck he was saying. I could only guess that he was letting the other know that some choice victims were on their way.

Basically this movie is another of those where unsuspecting innocents run afoul of sadistic backwoods crazies. If you've seen this type of film before then you have the general framework. For those who have not (and there may be 1 or 2 of you out there) here it is: Unsuspecting young people passing thru, going to, or stopping at some remote backwoods area for some reason become prey of some psychotic retard(s) (usually physically deformed, but not always). Said retard(s) usually has a cabin, a shack, a compound---whatever---that serves as their residence and a holding pen, torture chamber, and abattoir for their unfortunate victims. Need I say they all love sharp things? It also should go without saying that most of these movies are amateurish and exploitive to varying degrees and this one is no different.

Finally, I thought this movie was gory and disgusting enough, though I've seen a lot worse, and the opening did make me wince. There were only about 12 people in it (who were alive to start with). The acting, is not great and some of the fight scenes have a play-acting quality that make the men look childish or girlish; the punches and kicks looked ineffectual and you could tell very clearly that they were being pulled. This didn't stop them from getting good and bloody as if a mule kicked them in the face, though. Finally (I'm serious this time), the movie does --if nothing else-- have value as a comedy despite some scenes of cruelty and the subject of rape. The exaggerated behavior of the mad men, especially towards the end, will possibly make you grin or chuckle (I did). Blood, bad acting, madmen foaming at the mouth...... All you need now is something to dull your brain for an hour and a half before viewing and you're set. Love, Boloxxxi.
