Fox 'Break,' 'K-Ville' get Web peeks
NEW YORK -- Fox Broadcasting Co. said Thursday that it is offering the series premiere of K-Ville online ahead of its broadcast debut along with the first 17 minutes of the season premiere of Prison Break.
The series will be available commercial-free for a limited time on News Corp. portals Fox.com and IGN.com along with AOL.com, Yahoo, TVGuide.com and others. The portals are part of the unnamed News Corp./NBC Universal joint online video venture set to launch this year.
"This approach reinforces the importance of involving fans to assist with marketing the show through word-of-mouth and discussion forums across the Internet," said William Bradford, senior vp content strategy at Fox.
This is an increasingly popular option for networks seeking different ways to promote new series to an online audience. Last month, Viacom's VH1 debuted its comedy I Hate My 30s on its official Web site and Web TV platform Joost ahead of its broadcast debut.
The New Orleans-based police drama K-Ville, which stars Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser, premieres Sept.
