For the past decade, Warner Bros. Animation has been giving DC Comics fans the movies they deserve, juggling a variety of tones and art styles to deliver adaptations of some of the biggest events in comics history. Beginning with ‘Superman: Doomsday‘ in 2007, the DC Animated Universe has served as both a blessing and a curse: on the one hand, examples of what faithful comic book adaptations can look like, and on the other hand, proof that the live-action Warner Bros.

It's Been nearly a month since the USA watched (and then discussed) the climactic last episode of Smallville's eighth season, so avoiding the spoilers online has been a minefield.
One TV news site spoke of an unnamed character's fate and proclaimed 'Spoiler alert' but then showed an image of the person right next to the headline. So that gave the game away immediately and took some of the surprise out of the episode. Thanks, guys!
Well, the UK has now seen the Season 8 finale too. So here is my review - with spoilers - and the chance for you to chime in with your own comments.
Was this finale worth waiting for? Is the show still great to watch or has it gone off the rails? Have your say below...

The explosion in comic book-related films in the last few years isn't confined to the big screen, or to live action. Both of the "big two" comic book publishers, DC Comics and Marvel Comics, have released a number of high-quality direct-to-dvd animated features based upon their characters.
While Marvel Comics may be the king of the comic book rack, DC Comics is the champion in comic book-related animated DVD sales, according to The-Numbers.com:
1. Superman: Doomsday - 9.4 million
2. Batman: Gotham Knight - 8.0 million
3. Ultimate Avengers 2 - 7.8 million
4. Ultimate Avengers - 6.7 million
5. Hulk Vs. - 5.4 million
6. Invincible Iron Man - 5.2 million
7. Justice League: The New Frontier - 5.2 million
8. Dr. Strange - 3.9 million
9. Wonder Woman - 3.4 million
10. Next Avengers - 2.9 million
Marvel's next animated release is Thor, designed to raise interest in the character slated for a live-action feature film in 2010. DC is releasing the animated origin story Green Lantern: First Flight in July.

As we all know, the live action Green Lantern movie is still at least year or two away, but in the meantime Warner Brothers is hoping to get your money for a new direct-to-dvd animated feature starring the Emerald Crusader. Green Lantern: First Flight is the latest in the Warner Premiere series that also includes Superman: Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight and Wonder Woman. I haven't been a huge fan of these animated features thus far, but I do think the Warner ones do have a slight edge over the Marvel ones from what I've seen. Green Lantern: First Flight is directed by Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Superman: Doomsday), and features the voices of Christopher Meloni, Tricia Helfer, Michael Madsen and John Larroquette. Look for it in stores on July 21st. Check out the trailer below.

DVD Rating: 3.5/5.0 Chicago – Even though I once had a weekly comic book addiction, I was never a big Wonder Woman fan. Maybe it was a trapping of my gender, but I always tended toward books with male heroes like Superman, Batman, and The X-Men. Having said that, I can still respect what the team behind DC Universe’s latest film have accomplished with “Wonder Woman,” another installment in an increasingly intriguing series of straight-to-dvd movies.
When you tell a lot of people that an animated straight-to-dvd movie is worth their time, a lot of them glaze over, smile, and nod. Trust me. “Superman: Doomsday,” “Justice League: The New Frontier,” “Batman: Gotham Knight,” and, now, “Wonder Woman” would make for a better superhero marathon than most live-action blockbusters of men (or a woman) in tights. If I had to rank the four, “Ww” would be the lowest, but that’s largely...

Chicago – Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation have revealed the fifth title in their popular DVD series of DC Universe animated original “PG-13” movies. In addition, they have sent HollywoodChicago.com the cover for “Green Lantern: First Flight”. The July 28, 2009 release will follow “Superman: Doomsday,” “Justice League: The New Frontier,” “Batman: Gotham Knight” and “Wonder Woman,” which will hit stores on March 3, 2009 and will be reviewed here later this week.
“First Flight” tells the story of Hal Jordan’s initial mission in the illuminated hero’s first-ever full-length animated film. The title will be released as a special edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray Hi-Def, as well as single disc DVD.
The DC Universe titles have been acclaimed for the accomplished voice talent and “First Flight” will feature some great actors including “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit“‘s Christopher Meloni as Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. Meloni...

For director Lauren Montgomery, the animated Wonder Woman DVD film was a breath of fresh air, giving her the opportunity to work with the emotions of a female character that a project such as Superman: Doomsday might not necessarily do. Hopefully she enjoyed the opportunity, however, because she’s back in the realm of the macho superhero with this summer’s animated Green Lantern: First Flight.

I never got into Wonder Woman. That was my older sister’s thing. I dealt with her on the Superfriends, but that was about it. Also: Superman: Doomsday didn’t do it for me, I was warned against Justice League: The New Frontier and Batman: Gotham Knight, although cool, was a collection of shorts, not a full feature. So do I sound like someone who wanted to see Wonder Woman? After an exhausting day of schlepping a heavy backpack and eating nothing but a Honey Nut Cheerios bar I grubbed off of a co-worker? Heck no. This was one of the times when my really cool job that everyone is jealous about actually felt like a job. So here’s the punchline: Wonder Woman is frickin’ fantastic. Sixty seconds into this movie there are decapitations, Cyclopses, winged purple beasts and hot hot Hot warrior women. And awesome dialogue: “My spear is thirsty!
