When purchasing a firearm Lucas asks if there's an application to fill out and the proprietor scoffs at him. In reality, a licensed firearms seller would have informed Lucas he would need to fill out federal form 4473 and pass an FBI background check. Any licensed dealer who bypasses that requirement, even in rural Michigan, would be in trouble.
