Realistic, real characters who don't read prepared sentences via a script. Instead, this is in typical Italian style. It feels so liberating to escape the American Hollywood style with its "black and white", stereotypical stories! And above all, no one who applauds in the final scene or tells a moral tribute to life that makes everyone in the film weep with rapture.
Where are all those with indelibly beautiful faces or the white teeth that we know everyone had back in the day? I'm glad that today you can find these series in countries outside the US where you can feel for people without languid music and dramatic naive tear-jerking stories and exaggerated pointing fingers. The pace is slow sometimes, but so is our existence! Most people today seem to want so much action that they can't bear to follow series that don't depict life as full of drama at every moment.
Admittedly, I've only seen three episodes so far, so I hope it continues throughout the series. In short; so like the lives we live without fog curtains!
