The 28th Annual Tony Awards

Among the actors in attendance were no fewer than four who would be linked to the Sherlock Holmes character--George C. Scott who had played a psychiatric hospital inpatient believing himself to be Holmes in They Might Be Giants (1971), Nicol Williamson who would play Holmes in The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976), Christopher Plummer who would play Holmes in Murder by Decree (1979), and both Peter Cook and Dudley Moore who would spoof Holmes and Dr. Watson in The Hound of the Baskervilles (1978).
