At one point in the film, Brooke tell Joel, an actor pretending to be an architect, "Well that's great Jimmy Stewart, but we try to stay in character." James Stewart actually graduated from Princeton with a degree in architecture.
This is Teryl Rothery's 12th live-action Christmas movie since The Twelve Days of Christmas Eve (2004) in 2004 and 13th since A Christmas Romance (1994) way back in 1994.
Joel, portrayed by Matt Cohen, gives his reason for being an actor as "the family business." Matt appears as young John Winchester in Supernatural (2005), where the "family business" is famously "saving people, hunting things."
Teryl Rothery, Bruce Boxleitner and Anna Van Hooft were all in Cedar Cove (2013), also produced by Hallmark and shot in the Vancouver area as is this movie.
